traditional chinese medicines(TCMs)possess a rich historical background,unique theoretical framework,remarkable therapeutic efficacy,and abundant ***,the modernization and internationalization of TCMs have faced significant obstacles due to their diverse ingredients and unknown *** gain deeper insights into the phytochemicals and ensure the quality control of TCMs,there is an urgent need to enhance analytical ***,two-dimensional(2D)chromatography,which incorporates two independent separation mechanisms,demonstrates superior separation capabilities compared to the traditional one-dimensional(1D)separation system when analyzing TCMs *** the past decade,new techniques have been continuously developed to gain actionable insights from complex *** review presents the recent advancements in the application of multidimensional chromatography for the quality evaluation of TCMs,encompassing 2D-gas chromatography(GC),2D-liquid chromatography(LC),as well as emerging three-dimensional(3D)-GC,3D-LC,and their associated data-processing *** studies highlight the promising potential of multidimensional chromatographic separation for future phytochemical ***,the increased separation capability has resulted in higher-order data sets and greater demands for data-processing *** that multidimensional chromatography is still a relatively nascent research field,further hardware enhancements and the implementation of chemometric methods are necessary to foster its robust development.

The most common subtype of lung cancer is non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC), which has a poor prognosis and seriously threatens the health of human beings. The multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment model has gradually become the mainstream of NSCLC treatment. traditional chinese medicine(TCM) can be used effectively either as an adjunctive therapy or alone throughout the NSCLC therapy,which has a significant impact on survival, quality of life, and reduction of toxicity. Therefore, this paper reviewed the theoretical basis, the latest clinical application, and combined treatment mechanisms in order to explore the advantage stage of TCM treatment and the synergistic therapeutic mechanisms.

Functional dyspepsia(FD) is a common and frequently occurring disease in clinic. With the infuence of environmental factors, social factors and dietary factors, the incidence rate of FD in the general population is yearly increasing. traditional chinese medicine has a long history and far-reaching infuence in the treatment of FD. It can prevent and treat FD in the form of multiple-components, targets and channels,with obvious effect and prominent advantages. This article starts with the common syndrome types of FD, and discusses the research progress of single chinese medicine, effective ingredients and the mechanism of traditional chinese medicines in treating FD, in order to provide a theoretical basis for the treatment of FD with traditional chinese medicines.

Chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG),a common disease of digestive system,is an extremely important cause of gastric cancer(GC).The occurrence and development of CAG involves the abnormality of multiple signaling *** chinese medicines(TCMs)has the advantages of mild action,multi-target and small adverse reaction,etc.,which broadens the way for the treatment of the disease,and TCMs can play a therapeutic role by regulating multiple signaling *** this review,based on the related experiments of TCMs and chinese herbal compounds in recent years,the related literatures were searched and 10 kinds of signaling pathways involved were summarized,in order to provide a reference for further research on reversing or delaying the progress of CAG and preventing gastric cancer.

Rapid bioluminescence assay for monitoring rat CES1 activity and its alteration by traditional chinese medicines

In traditional chinese medicine herbs(TCM),including Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae(Danshen),Radix Puerariae Lobatae(Gegen),Radix Angelicae Sinensis(Danggui),and Rhizoma Chuanxiong(Chuanxiong)are widely used for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and also often co-administered with Western drugs as a part of integrative medicine *** 1(CES1)plays a pivotal role in the metabolisms of pro-drugs,Since(S)-2-(2-(6-dimethylamino)-benzothiazole)-4,5-dihydrothiazole-4-carboxylate(NLMe)has recently been identified by us as a selective CES1 bioluminescent sensor,we developed a rapid method using this substrate for the direct measurement of CES1 activity in *** bioluminescence assay was applied to determine CES1 activity in rat tissues after a two-week oral administration of each of the four herbs noted *** results demonstrated the presence of CES1 enzyme in rat blood and all tested tissues with much higher enzyme activity in the blood,liver,kidney and heart than that in the small intestine,spleen,lung,pancreas,brain and *** addition,the four herbs showed tissue-specific effects on rat CES1 *** on the CES1 biodistribution and its changes after treatment in rats,the possibility that Danshen,Gegen and Danggui might alter CES1 activities in human blood and kidney should be *** summary,a selective and sensitive bioluminescence assay was developed to rapidly evaluate CES1 activity and the effects of orally administered TCMs in rats.

New cyclodextrin derivatives （CDs）, heptakis（2, 6-di- O-methyl-3- O-methoxymethyl）-β-CD （ Ⅰ ） and heptakis（2, 3, 6-tri-O-methoxymethyl）-β-CD （ Ⅱ ）, were investigated for their chromatographic performance as stationary phases for capillary gas chromatography （CGC）. Both of the CDs exhibited good selectivity and satisfactory separation for test mixtures and aromatic positional isomers, and volatile compounds from Ligusticurn chuanxiong Hort. Additionally, the selectivity and elution orders of major compounds were compared with a well-recognized commercial column on the basis of the results by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry （GC-MS）. The present work demonstrates the good selectivity of the two new CDs and can be used as GC stationary phases for the separation of positional isomers and analytes in complex samples.

Rheumatoid arthritis(RA),the most common inflammatory arthropathy word wild,is a systemic autoimmune disease that mainly affects the synovium of joints with a high disability *** misregulation has emerged as a fundamental pathogenesis of RA linked to immune cell dysfunction,while targeting immunometabolism provides a new and effective approach to regulate the immune responses and thus alleviate the symptom of ***,natural active compounds from traditional chinese medicines(TCMs)have potential therapeutic effects on RA and regulating *** this review,in addition to updating the connection between cellular metabolism and cell function in immune cells of RA,we summarized that the anti-inflammatory mechanisms of the potential natural compounds from TCM by targeting metabolic reprogramming of immune cells,and discusses them as a rich resource for providing the new potential paradigm for the treatment of RA.

LC-MS-based metabolomics has being widely used in traditional chinese medicines （TCMs） research due to the great coverage of mass ranges, high sensitivity to detect metabolites, and no need of sample derivatization. Herein, we reviewed our research on the applications of LC-MS-based metabolomics in TCMs research over the past decade in the following aspects： herbal authentication, determination of herb harvest time, chemical transformation of herbs during post-harvest handlings （sulfurfumigation and drying）, discrimination of raw and processed herbs, chemical transformation of TCMs during preparation, screening endogenous toxic compounds in TCMs, unveiling synergistic mechanisms between small molecules （such as saponins） and polysaccharides in TCMs, revealing synergistic actions of TCMs with chemical drugs, which demonstrated that metabolomics is a superior strategy in TCMs research concerning the holistic perspectives.

After thousands of years of development, traditional chinese medicines （TCMs） have evolved into a complete scientific system characterized by multiple components, targets, and pathways, which mediates numerous pharmacological activities and efficacies. The development of ＂-omics＂ technology, including systems biology and network pharmacology, has enabled the illustration of TCMs from a more systematic view. Although the network adequately reflects the overall philosophy of TCMs, its complexity hinders the relevant research to a hover. In addition, the strategies involved appear to be in contrast to the original concise and efficacious disease therapy oriented focus on classic chinese material medica （CMM）. Based on the established holistic view and reductionism, in this review, we discuss an integrated systems biology and chemical biology research approach that will facilitate and accelerate the understanding of the mechanisms of TCMs. Furthermore, we are optimistic that it will elucidate the associated interactions between active natural products and their targets, and ultimately improve the strategies for complex disease therapies.
