In situ synchrotron x-ray diffraction experiments of SWCNT （single-walled carbon nanotube） electrode in alkali halide aqueous electrolyte at several applied potentials were performed, and the change in the diffraction pattern of SWCNTs was observed. It was found that the position of the 100 diffraction peak does not change with applied potential while the peak intensity decreases with anion adsorption. It was concluded that the space inside the tube would be the important ion adsorption site for the well-gown SWCNT bundles.

Titanium dioxide （TiO2） nanoparticles are produced for many different purposes, including development of therapeutic and diagnostic nanoparticles for cancer detection and treatment, drug delivery, induction of DNA double-strand breaks, and imaging of specific cells and subcellular structures. Currently, the use of optical microscopy, an imaging technique most accessible to biology and medical patholog36 to detect TiO2 nanoparticles in cells and tissues ex vivo is limited with low detection limits, while more sensitive imaging methods （transmission electron microscopy, x-ray fluorescence microscop~ etc.） have low throughput and technical and operational complications. Herein, we describe two in situ post- treatment labeling approaches to stain TiO2 nanoparticles taken up by the cells. The first approach utilizes fluorescent biotin and fluorescent streptavidin to label the nanoparticles before and after cellular uptake; the second approach is based on the copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition, the so-called Click chemistry, for labeling and detection of azide-conjugated TiO2 nanoparticles with alkyne- conjugated fluorescent dyes such as Alexa Fluor 488. To confirm that optical fluorescence signals of these nanoparticles match the distribution of the Ti element, we used synchrotron x-ray fluorescence microscopy （xFM） at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory. Titanium-specific xFM showed excellent overlap with the location of optical fluorescence detected by confocal microscopy. Therefore, future experiments with TiO2 nanoparticles may safely rely on confocal microscopy after in situ nanoparticle labeling using approaches described here.

An ultrafast front-end ASIC chip has been developed for APD array detectors in x-ray time-resolved experiments. The chip has five channels： four complete channels and one test channel with an analog output. Each complete channel consists of a preamplifier, a voltage discriminator and an open-drain output driver. A prototype chip has been designed and fabricated using 0.13 μm CMOS technology with a chip size of 1.3 mm×1.9 mm. The electrical characterizations of the circuit demonstrate a very good intrinsic time resolution（rms） on the output pulse leading edge, with the test result better than 30 ps for high input signal charges（〉 75 fC） and better than 100 ps for low input signal charges（30-75 fC）, while keeping a low power consumption of 5 mW per complete channel.

This paper reports recent studies of the rheological and viscoelastic properties of minerals at mantle pressure and temperature using Deformation multi-anvil apparatus(D-DIA).Stress-strain-time relations were measured using synchrotron x-ray radiation to determine these *** properties of San Carlos olivine were measured at pressure up to 10 GPa and indicated that the effect of pressure on the viscosity of olivine is much smaller than previous *** unique capability of synchrotron x-ray can resolve the stress heterogeneity within a polycrystalline material as well as within a multi-phase mixture and elucidate the stress-strain distribution in an *** measurements were carried out using olivine as the sample at mantle pressure and *** results showed that grain boundary activity rather than pressure dominate the relaxation *** aim of this paper is to illustrate the methods using new tools for high pressure research.
