Several reports have revealed the vital role that probiotics play in fish growth and ***,few works are available for host gut-derived probiotics on the growth,immunity,and gut microbiota of fish,especially in hybrid grouper (♀Epinephelus fuscoguttatus×♂Epinephelus lanceolatus) due to their isolation difficulty and functional *** study aimed at assessing 3 host gut-derived Bacillus species?effects on the growth,immune and antioxidant-biochemical responses,haematological parameters,intestinal morphology,immune-related gene expression,gut microbiota,and disease resistance against Vibrio harveyi in hybrid grouper.A total of 480 hybrid grouper (initial weight=9.03±0.02 g) were randomly allotted into 4 groups,namely,the group fed a basal diet without probiotic inclusion (control,B0),the group fed the basal diet with Bacillus velezensis GPSAK4 (BV),the group fed the basal diet with Bacillus subtilis GPSAK9 (BS),and the group fed the basal diet with Bacillus tequilensis GPSAK2 (BT) strains at 1.0×10^(9)CFU/*** a 6-week feeding trial,the results revealed significant improvements (P<0.05) in the growth performance,whole fish-body proximate composition,blood haematological parameters,serum,liver,and intestinal biochemical indexes,intestinal morphology,and protection against *** pathogen in the probiotic-treated groups compared with the ***,the expressions of intestinal tight junction genes (occludin and ZO1),pro-and anti-inflammatory genes,including IL1β,IL6,IL8,TNFa,MyD88,IL10,and TGFβ,were upregulated (P<0.05) after Bacillus species *** gut-derived Bacillus supplementation shaped the gut microbiota by significantly increasing (P<0.05) the relative abundance of Proteobacteria,Bacteroidetes,Actinobacteria (except the BS group),Acidobacteria(except the BT group),Cyanobacteria (except the BV and BT groups),and Verrucomicrobia phyla,as well as known beneficial genera (Romboutsia,Turicibacter,Epulopiscium,Clostr

Effect of the drive system on locomotive dynamic characteristics using different dynamics models

Based on the theory of vehicle-track coupled dynamics and gear system dynamics, a locomotive-track coupled spatial dynamics model is established by considering the dynamic effects of the gear transmission system. The vibration responses of a locomotive's major components are then simulated using three locomotive-track models, namely the proposed dynamics model with the gear transmissions, a locomotive-track coupled dynamics model that considers the traction motor, and the classical Zhai's model. The locomotive dynamic responses of the three models are extracted and compared to reveal discrepancies between them so as to explore the dynamic effects of the power transmission system and clarify potential applications of these models. The results indicate that the dynamic effects of the gear transmissions have a negligible influence on the lateral vibrations of the locomotive components. However, they have obvious effects on the vertical and longitudinal vibrations of the wheelset and the traction motor. Another advantage of the locomotive dynamics model that considers the dynamic effects of the gear transmissions is that the dynamic performance of the drive system can be assessed in the vehicle vibration environment. This study provides theoretical references that can assist researchers in choosing the most appropriate locomotive dynamics model according to their specific research purpose.

Effective utilization of hot electrons generated from the decay of surface plasmon resonance in metal nanoparticles is conductive to improve solar water splitting ***,Ag nanoparticles and reduced graphene oxide(rGO)co-decorated hierarchical TiO2 nanoring/nanotube arrays(TiO2 R/T)were facilely fabricated by using two-step electrochemical anodization,electrodeposition,and photoreduction *** studies were conducted to elucidate the effects of rGO and Ag on the morphology,photoresponse,charge transfer,and photoelectric properties of ***,scanning electron microscope images confirm that the Ag nanoparticles adhered on TiO2 R/T and TiO2 R/T-rGO have similar diameter of 20 nm except for TiO2 R-rGO/***,the UV-Vis DRS and scatter spectra reveal that the optical property of the Ag-TiO2 R/T-rGO ternary composite is enhanced,ascribing to the visible light absorption of plasmonic Ag nanoparticles and the weakening effect of rGO on light ***,intensity-modulated photocurrent spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectra demonstrate that rGO can promote the hot electrons transfer from Ag nanoparticles to Ti substrate,reducing the photogenerated electron-hole ***,Ag-TiO2 R/T-rGO photoanode exhibits high photocurrent density(0.98 mA cm?2)and photovoltage(0.90 V),and the stable H2 evolution rate of 413μL h?1 cm?2 within 1.5 h under AM 1.5 which exceeds by 1.30 times than that of pristine TiO2 R/*** line with the above results,this work provides a reliable route synergizing rGO with plasmonic metal nanoparticles for photocatalysis,in which,rGO presents a broad absorption spectrum and effective photogenerated electrons transfer.

Although a detailed finite element(FE) model provides more precise results, a lumped-mass stick(LMS) model is preferred because of its simplicity and rapid computational time. However, the reliability of LMS models has been questioned especially for structures dominated by higher modes and seismic inputs. Normally, the natural frequencies and dynamic responses of a LMS model based on tributary area mass consideration are different from the results of the FE model. This study proposes a basic updating technique to overcome these discrepancies; the technique employs the identical modal response, D(t), to the detailed FE model. The parameter D(t) is a time variable function in the dynamic response composition and it depends on frequency and damping ratio for each mode, independent of the structure's mode shapes. The identical response D(t) for each mode is obtained from the frequency adaptive LMS model; the adaptive LMS model which can provide identical modal frequencies as the detailed FE model. Theoretical backgrounds and formulations of the updating technique are proposed. To validate the updating technique, two types of structures(a symmetric straight column and an unsymmetric T-shaped structure) are considered. From the seismic response results including base shear and base moment, the updating technique considerably improves the seismic response accuracy of the tributary area-based LMS model.

By numerical simulations on frequency dependence of the spiking threshold, i.e. on the critical amplitude of periodic stimulus, for a neuron to fire, we find that bushy cells in the cochlear nuclear exhibit frequency selec- tivity behaviour. However, the selective frequency band of a bushy cell is far away from that of the preferred spectral range in human and mammal auditory perception. The mechanism underlying this neural activity is also discussed. Further studies show that the ion channel densities have little impact on the selective frequency band of bushy cells. These findings suggest that the neuronal behaviour of frequency selectivity in bushy cells at both the single cell and population levels may be not functionally relevant to frequency discrimination. Our results may reveal a neural hint to the reconsideration on the busily cell functional role in auditory information processing of sound frequency.

Air/CO2 cooling garment: Description and benefits of use for subjects exposed to a hot and humid climate during physical activities

The severity of the hot and humid conditions to which miners are exposed increases as the depth of the work site *** can cause heat stress that can greatly affect the health and safety of *** resolve this,a cooling garment has been developed that uses an atmospheric discharge of liquid CO2 to create a cool microclimate with an average temperature of 12.5(±0.4)℃ beneath the *** evaluate the garment's cooling efficiency,19 male subjects participated in an experimental *** two modes,cooling on and off,were *** physiological differences were found between the two modes after minute 27(p<0.05)until the end of the recovery phase for the heart rate(maximum difference of 10 beats per minute)and the internal body temperature(maximum difference of 0.33℃).It was found that the modes also affected the subjects'*** ON-mode was associated with better well-being and thermal comfort,and reduced humidity *** of exertion were lower in the ON-mode condition from minute *** findings provide strong evidence of the ability of this cooling garment to reduce heat stress in hot and humid conditions similar to those encountered in deep mines.

The viscoelastic multi-dimensional earthquake isolation and mitigation device is a new kind of passive control device, which has both earthquake isolation and earthquake mitigation abilities. In order to quantify the horizontal earthquake isolation and mitigation effect of this device on structures, shaking table tests on structures with and without the devices and the corresponding analysis on earthquake isolation and mitigation properties are carried out. It can be shown from the experimental and analytical results that the device has both earthquake isolation and earthquake mitigation effects on structures in horizontal direction, and its horizontal earthquake mitigation coefficients can be referred to those of the rubber bearing earthquake isolation structure.
