We develop an influenza pandemic model with quarantine and treatment, and analyze the dynamics of the model. Analytical results of the model show that, if basic repro- duction number R0 〈 1, the disease-free equilibrium （DFE） is globally asymptotically stable, if R0〉 1, the disease is uniformly persistent. The model is then extended to assess the impact of three anti-influenza control measures, precaution, quarantine and treat- ment, by re-formulating the model as an optimal control problem. We focus primarily on controlling disease with a possible minimal the systemic cost. Pontryagin＇s maximum principle is used to characterize the optimal levels of the three controls. Numerical sim- ulations of the optimality system, using a set of reasonable parameter values, indicate that the precaution measure is more effective in reducing disease transmission than the other two control measures. The precaution measure should be emphasized.

An effectiveness study of vaccination and quarantine combination strategies for containing mpox transmission on simulated college campuses

The ongoing transmission of mpox in specific countries and regions necessitates urgent *** is essential to implement targeted containment strategies that concentrate on high-risk populations and critical locations,such as college campuses,to effectively curb the spread of *** study is dedicated to evaluating the performance of various vaccination and quarantine strategies in curbing the spread of mpox and estimating the outbreak *** accomplish this,we constructed a stochastic,agent-based,discrete-time susceptible-latent-infectious-recovered(SLIR)model,to examine mpox transmission on a simulated college *** findings reveal that relying solely on PEP is insufficient in containing mpox *** bolster the population immunity and protect the vulnerable,pre-exposure vaccination among high-risk populations prior to an outbreak is *** study demonstrates that a pre-exposure vaccination rate of 50%in high-risk populations can led to a remarkable 74.2%reduction of *** translated to a mere 1.0%cumulative infection incidence in the overall *** cases where the desired vaccination coverage is not attainable,enhancing case detection and isolation measures can serve as an effective emergency response to contain mpox *** pre-exposure vaccination coverage of 20%or lower,a 40%isolation ratio is necessary to keep the cumulative number of infections in ***,when the coverage exceeds 30%,a reduced isolation ratio of 20%becomes sufficient to manage the outbreak *** insights underscore the importance of strategic pre-exposure vaccination in conjunction with robust surveillance and isolation protocols to safeguard public health and prevent the escalation of mpox outbreaks.

The quarantine of people suspected of being exposed to an infectious agent is one of the most basic public health measure that has historically been used to combat the spread of communicable diseases in human *** study presents a new deterministic model for assessing the population-level impact of the quarantine of individuals suspected of being exposed to disease on the spread of the 2014e2015 outbreaks of Ebola viral *** is assumed that quarantine is imperfect(i.e.,individuals can acquire infection during quarantine).In the absence of quarantine,the model is shown to exhibit global dynamics with respect to the disease-free and its unique endemic equilibrium when a certain epidemiological threshold(denoted byR 0)is either less than or greater than ***,unlike the full model with imperfect quarantine(which is known to exhibit the phenomenon of backward bifurcation),the version of the model with no quarantine does not undergo a backward *** data relevant to the 2014e2015 Ebola transmission dynamics in the three West African countries(Guinea,Liberia and Sierra Leone),uncertainty analysis of the model show that,although the current level and effectiveness of quarantine can lead to significant reduction in disease burden,they fail to bring the associated quarantine reproduction number(R Q0)to a value less than unity(which is needed to make effective disease control or elimination feasible).This reduction of R Q0 is,however,very possible with a modest increase in quarantine rate and *** is further shown,via sensitivity analysis,that the parameters related to the effectiveness of quarantine(namely the parameter associated with the reduction in infectiousness of infected quarantined individuals and the contact rate during quarantine)are the main drivers of the disease transmission ***,this study shows that the singular implementation of a quarantine intervention strategy can lead to the effective control or

quarantine is a crucial control measure in reducing imported COVID-19 cases and community ***,some quarantined COVID-19 patients may show symptoms after finishing quarantine due to a long median incubation period,potentially causing community *** assess the recommended 14-day quarantine policy,we develop a formula to estimate the quarantine failure rate from the incubation period distribution and the epidemic *** found that the quarantine failure rate increases with the exponential growth rate of the epidemic *** apply our formula to United States,Canada,and Hubei Province,*** the lockdown of Wuhan City,the quarantine failure rate in Hubei Province is about 4.1%.If the epidemic curve flattens or slowly decreases,the failure rate is less than 2.8%.The failure rate in US may be as high as 8.3%-11.5%due to a shorter 10-day quarantine period,while the failure rate in Canada may be between 2.5%and 3.9%.A 21-day quarantine period may reduce the failure rate to 0.3%-0.5%.

The monkeypox epidemic has become a global health issue due to its rapid transmission involving nonhuman-to-human transmission in nonendemic *** actions,such as quarantine,vaccination,and hospitalization,have been implemented by worldwide *** the relatively high cost and strict implementation of vaccination,our focus lies on quarantine and *** this paper,we study the monkeypox epidemic involving quarantine and hospitalization through fractionalorder mathematical *** proposed model considers six classes of human populations(susceptible,exposed,infected,quarantined,hospitalized,and recovered)and three classes of nonhuman populations(susceptible,exposed,and infected).The basic properties of the model have been investigated,and its equilibrium points have been obtained,namely monkeypox-free,nonhuman-free endemic,and *** have derived the basic reproduction numbers for human-to-human and nonhuman-tononhuman transmissions,denoted as R0h and R0n *** existence and stability(both locally and globally)of each equilibrium point depend on R0h and R0n relative to *** performed calibration and forecasting of the model on the weekly monkeypox case data of the human population in the United States of America from June 1 to September 23,*** findings indicate that the fractional-order model shows better calibration and forecasting compared to the corresponding firstorder model based on the root mean square ***,the best-fitting model calibration indicates R0=maxfR0h;R0ng>1,suggesting the potential for endemic conditions in ***,the best forecasting shows R0quarantine and hospitalization *** and

In this paper,a deterministic compartmental model is presented to assess the impact of vaccination and non-pharmaceutical interventions(social distance,awareness,face mask,and quarantine)on the transmission dynamics of COVID-19 with co-morbidity and *** expression for the basic reproduction number is then derived for this *** analysis shows that the model exhibits backward bifurcation phenomenon when the basic reproduction number is less than *** for the case of no reinfection,the model has a globally asymptotically stable disease-free equilibrium(DFE)when the basic reproduction number is less than ***,it is shown that in the case of no re-infection,a unique endemic equilibrium point(EEP)of the model exists which is globally asymptotically stable whenever the reproduction number is greater than *** the global sensitivity and uncertainty analysis,we have identified mask coverage,mask efficacy,vaccine coverage,vaccine efficacy,and contact rate as the most influential parameters influencing the spread of *** simulation results show that the use of effective vaccines with proper implementation of non-pharmaceutical interventions could lead to the elimination of COVID-19 from the *** simulations also suggest that the control strategy that ensures a continuous and effective mass vaccination program is the most cost-effective control *** study also shows that in the presence of any co-morbidity and with the occurrence of re-infection,the disease burden may increase.

Global health concerns about the health of the global population and the concepts of global health are gradually being accepted by all of the countries in the *** health and quarantine at points of entry(POEs) is an integral part of global health,and its duty of prevention and control of the communicable diseases in POEs is consistent with the duty of global health to promote the health of global *** the principle of "prevention first",health and quarantine organ carries out the work of disease prevention and control and international travel health care,the reinforcement of core capacity at POEs,and focuses on human rights *** the same,there are some gaps with the requirements of global health,such as the inadequate of health promotion planning capacity,ethics awareness and legal *** future work of health and quarantine should change ideas on communicable diseases prevention at POEs,focus more on ethical consideration,and should optimize system architecture and human resources,strengthen cooperation,maintain core capacity at POEs,thus to build points of entry public health system with Chinese characteristics,meanwhile to apply the concepts of global health deeply into every aspects of health and quarantine at POEs.
