Aims Plant height is a key functional trait related to aboveground bio-mass,leaf photosynthesis and plant ***,large-scale geographical patterns in community-average plant height(cAPH)of woody species and drivers of these patterns across different life forms remain hotly ***,whether cAPH could be used as a predictor of ecosystem primary productivity is *** We compiled mature height and distributions of 11422 woody spe-cies in eastern Eurasia,and estimated geographic patterns in cAPH for different taxonomic groups and life *** we evaluated the effects of environmental(including current climate and historical climate change since the Last Glacial Maximum(LGM))and evolutionary factors on ***,we compared the predictive power of cAPH on primary productivity with that of LiDAR-derived canopy-height data from a global *** Findings Geographic patterns of cAPH and their drivers differed among taxonomic groups and life *** strongest predictor for cAPH of all woody species combined,angiosperms,all dicots and deciduous dicots was actual evapotranspiration,while temperature was the strongest pre-dictor for cAPH of monocots and tree,shrub and evergreen dicots,and water availability for *** climate change since the LGM had only weak effects on *** phylogenetic signal was detected in family-wise average height,which was also unrelated to the tested environmental ***,we found a strong correlation between cAPH and ecosystem primary *** productivity showed a weaker relationship with cAPH of the tallest species within a grid cell and no relationship with LiDAR-derived canopy height reported in the global *** findings suggest that current climate rather than historical climate change and evolutionary history determine the geographical patterns in ***,the relative effects of climatic factors representing environmental energy and water availability on s

Leguminosae,the thirdly largest family of the angiosperm,is diverse in morphology,ecology and *** phylogenetic reconstructions of the Leguminosae based on one or a few genes have not resolved many deep phylogenetic relationships or some nodes only obtained low *** applied 151 complete/nearly complete plastomes of 187 species representing all 36 tribes and most major clades of six subfamilies to infer phylogenetic *** reconstructions were conducted on both coding and noncoding regions with various pruning and partitioning *** of our analyses fully resolved the deep relationships of legume with strong statistical support at most nodes,which are generally congruent with the those in previous studies but with some interesting *** deep relationships and some short internodes of Leguminosae were strongly supported both in coding and noncoding data sets but conflict relationships were *** phylogenetic signal analyses for all matrices,we detected conflict phylogenetic signals between coding and noncoding regions,and also among some coding loci at these *** phylogenomics offers new and important insights into deep phylogenetic relationships of *** robust phylogenetic backbone reconstructed in this study establish a framework for future studies on classification,evolution and diversification of this important family.

Angiosperms（flowering plants） are the most diverse and species-rich groups of plants,yet the relationships of the five divergent groups of the Mesangiospermae（～99.95% of extant angiosperms） and its evolutionary timeline have been a subject of long *** we infer the angiosperm phylogeny and divergence times of major lineages by analyzing 3577 nuclear genes in 142 species,covering all or most orders of eudicots,monocots,magnoliids,Chloranthaceae and *** phylogeny corroborates some earlier inferences and provides novel insights,in particular within *** find sisterhood of Chloranthaceae and a clade containing eudicots and Ceratophyllaceae,and these three lineages form sister group to magnoliids + *** timescale of angiosperm evolution reveal that the crown-angiosperms originated approximately 222.92 million years ago（Ma） ±25 million years,and Mesangiospermae diversified into five groups in a short time span（～9 Ma） at the Late *** 80% of angiosperm orders appear in the Cretaceous accompanying the long-lasting humid temperate environment,which provided new external conditions for further expansive diversification within Mesangiospermae.

The legume family（Fabaceae or Leguminosae） is the third largest angiosperm family with c.765 genera and over 19,500 *** ecological and economic terms,Leguminosae is also one of the most important plant families of the world and it has been a focus of numerous taxonomic,phylogenetic and evolutionary *** remarkable advances over the last two decades,some deep phylogenetic relationships among the subfamilies and tribes remain unresolved or weakly *** plastomes show significant structure variation,however,only limited plastomes have been reported,of which most are from *** sequenced the whole plastomes of 350 species of 300 genera,representing 35 out of 36 tribes of *** structural variations,including IR expansion and contraction,large inversion,gene duplication,were detected in species from the mimosoid clade and *** reconstruction based on different plastomic loci and partitioning methods produce trees with generally congruent topologies,but with some interesting ***,the deep relationships and some short internodes of Leguminosae were strongly supported in coding and noncoding regions with incongruent *** using phylogenetic signal analyses and different reduced matrices,we demonstrate that conflicting phylogenetic signals can be found across the chloroplast coding *** addition,our results also provided a dissection of the distribution of loci and observed heterogeneous phylogenetic signals between coding and noncoding *** clades within subfamilies were strongly supported as monophyly,and most phylogenetic relationships among them were resolved with high *** used newly developed tool of ARACHIS to reconstruct ancestral plastome architecture of Leguminosae and explored the factors associated with structural variations across their *** found that the loss of inverted repeats was related to the occurrence of inversion,and that
