Multiple mixed state variable incremental integration for reconstructing extreme multistability in a novel memristive hyperchaotic jerk system with multiple cubic nonlinearity

Memristor-based chaotic systems with infinite equilibria are interesting because they generate extreme multistability.Their initial state-dependent dynamics can be explained in a reduced-dimension model by converting the incremental integration of the state variables into system parameters.However,this approach cannot solve memristive systems in the presence of nonlinear terms other than the memristor term.In addition,the converted state variables may suffer from a degree of divergence.To allow simpler mechanistic analysis and physical implementation of extreme multistability phenomena,this paper uses a multiple mixed state variable incremental integration(MMSVII)method,which successfully reconstructs a four-dimensional hyperchaotic jerk system with multiple cubic nonlinearities except for the memristor term in a three-dimensional model using a clever linear state variable mapping that eliminates the divergence of the state variables.Finally,the simulation circuit of the reduced-dimension system is constructed using Multisim simulation software and the simulation results are consistent with the MATLAB numerical simulation results.The results show that the method of MMSVII proposed in this paper is useful for analyzing extreme multistable systems with multiple higher-order nonlinear terms.

A digital background calibration technique which mainly corrects nonlinear errors of residue amplifiers in pipelined analog-to-digital converters(ADCs) is presented. The proposed technique extracts the nonlinear errors by splitting sampling capacitors and inserting two extra comparators, and is highly effective as long as the input signal is busy. The method of self-tracking comparator thresholds is proposed to reduce the time of convergence with low complexity for any bit cases in a pipelined ADC.Both measurement and correction are processed in digital domain. After calibration, the behavioral simulation shows that the Signal-to-noise-and-distortion ratio(SNDR) is raised from 55.4d B to 90.2d B and the Spurious-free dynamic range(SFDR) is improved from 61.6d B to 102 d B in a 16-bit prototype pipelined ADC with 0.5% capacitor mismatches and 4.5% gain compression of the residue amplifier.

This paper compares data from linearized and nonlinear Zebiak-Cane model, as constrained by observed sea surface temperature anomaly （SSTA）, in simulating central Pacific （CP） and eastern Pacific （EP） E1 Nino. The difference between the temperature advections （determined by subtracting those of the linearized model from those of the nonlinear model）, referred to here as the nonlinearly induced temperature advection change （NTA）, is analyzed. The results demonstrate that the NTA records warming in the central equatorial Pacific during CP E1 Nino and makes fewer contributions to the structural distinctions of the CP E1 Nino, whereas it records warming in the eastern equatorial Pacific during EP E1 Nino, and thus significantly promotes EP E1 Nino during E1 Nino-type selection. The NTA for CP and EP E1 Nino varies in its amplitude, and is smaller in CP E1 Nino than it is in EP E1 Nino. These results demonstrate that CP E1 Nino are weakly modulated by small intensities of NTA, and may be controlled by weak nonlinearity; whereas, EP E1 Nino are significantly enhanced by large amplitudes of NTA, and are therefore likely to be modulated by relatively strong nonlinearity. These data could explain why CP E1 Nino are weaker than EP E1 Nino. Because the NTA for CP and EP E1 Nino differs in spatial structures and intensities, as well as their roles within different E1 Nino modes, the diversity of E1 Nino may be closely related to changes in the nonlinear characteristics of the tropical Pacific.

Frequency-swept interferometry(FSI) is a well-known ranging technique, but it suffers from three problems, namely, the Doppler effect, the frequency-sweep nonlinearity, as well as the slow frequency-sweep rate. The first two problems hinder the measurement accuracy, while the third problem limits the measurement rate. In this paper, we present a dynamic FSI(DFSI) that solves these three fundamental problems simultaneously. The DFSI consists of two auxiliary interferometers(AU1 and AU2) and two measurement interferometers(FSI and frequency-fixed interferometry(FFI)). We use FSI to obtain the Doppler and nonlinearity affected ranging signal, AU1 to monitor the frequency-tuning nonlinearity in the frequency-swept laser(FSL), and FFI and AU2 to constitute a laser vibrometer for monitoring the target motion-induced Doppler effect. Then, a novel signal fusion processing technique is applied to reconstruct the real dynamic distance from the above-measured signals. The dynamic ranging error caused by the Doppler effect and frequency-sweep nonlinearity in FSI can be eliminated and the dynamic distance at each sampling point can be obtained. The validity of this method is demonstrated by numerical experiments.

We study the dynamics of short optical pulses in a real system with periodically distributed dispersion and the nonlinearity is governed by the higher order nonlinear Schr?dinger equation(HNLSE) with linear and nonlinear gain(loss). Under specific parametric circumstances, where the dark and bright solitary waves are combined, a set of entirely new types of solitary waves with nonlinear chirp have emerged. For a properly intense optical pulse in the combined solitary waves, the binding of the bright and dark solitary waves is very strong. It is seen that by numerical simulation, these pooled types of solitary-like solutions show a high degree of stability while propagating over an extremely long distance in the considering system, even in the presence of a high degree of perturbation of the amplitude and white noise. All constraint relations on the physical parameters are explicitly shown to be related to the development and to the dynamical study of the chirped solitary like solution in the considering medium.

The flourishing of topological photonics in the last decade was achieved mainly due to developments in linear topological photonic structures.However,when nonlinearity is introduced,many intriguing questions arise.For example,are there universal fingerprints of the underlying topology when modes are coupled by nonlinearity,and what can happen to topological invariants during nonlinear propagation?To explore these questions,we experimentally demonstrate nonlinearity-induced coupling of light into topologically protected edge states using a photonic platform and develop a general theoretical framework for interpreting the mode-coupling dynamics in nonlinear topological systems.Performed on laser-written photonic Su-Schrieffer-Heeger lattices,our experiments show the nonlinear coupling of light into a nontrivial edge or interface defect channel that is otherwise not permissible due to topological protection.Our theory explains all the observations well.Furthermore,we introduce the concepts of inherited and emergent nonlinear topological phenomena as well as a protocol capable of revealing the interplay of nonlinearity and topology.These concepts are applicable to other nonlinear topological systems,both in higher dimensions and beyond our photonic platform.

We present the motion equation of the standard-beam balance oscillation system, whose beam and suspensions, compared with the compound pendulum, are connected flexibly and vertically. The nonlinearity and the periodic solution of the equation are discussed by the phase-plane analysis. We find that this kind of oscillation can be equivalent to a standard-beam compound pendulum without suspensions; however, the equivalent mass centre of the standard beam is extended. The derived periodic solution shows that the oscillation period is tightly related to the initial pivot energy and several systemic parameters： beam length, masses of the beam, and suspensions, and the beam mass centre. A numerical example is calculated.

The absolute and sum-of-squares indicators are used to evaluate the Global avalanche characteristics(GAC) of Boolean functions in a global manner. The GAC properties of a class of highly nonlinear 1-resilient Boolean functions are given. We derive new upper bounds of the absolute and sumof-squares indicators for a class of 1-resilient Boolean functions with high nonlinearity. Compared to the known1-resilient Boolean functions, the constructed functions possess higher nonlinearity and better GAC properties.

Kerr nonlinearity is an important resource for creating squeezing and entanglement in quantum technology.Here we propose a scheme for generating Kerr nonlinearity originated from an engineered non-Markovian environment,which is different from the previous efforts using nonlinear media or quantum systems with special energy structures.In the present work,the generation of Kerr nonlinearity depends on the system-environment interaction time,the energy spectrum of the environment,and the system-environment coupling strength,regardless of the environmental initial state.The scheme can be realized in systems originally containing no Kerr interaction,such as superconducting circuit systems,optomechanical systems,and cavity arrays connected by transmission lines.
