Alzheimer's disease(AD)is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the presence of senile plaques and neurofibrillary *** attempts to identify characteristic factors that are associated with the presence of the AD pathology on the one hand and that increase the risk of developing AD on the *** in non-rapid eye movement(NREM)sleep may meet both requirements for various ***,NREM-sleep is important for optimal memory *** addition,studies report that the presence of AD pathology is associated with NREM-sleep ***,more and more results appear to suggest that sleep problems are not only a symptom of AD but can also increase the risk of *** of these studies suggest that it is primarily a lack of NREM-sleep that is responsible for this increased ***,the majority investigated sleep only through subjective reporting,as a result of which NREMsleep could not be analyzed *** aim of this literature study is therefore to present the results of the studies that relate the AD pathology and NREM-sleep(registered by electroencephalography).Furthermore,we try to evaluate whether NREM-sleep analysis could be used to support the diagnosis of AD and whether NREM-sleep deficiency could be a causal factor in the development of AD.

sleep disorders are common in patients with Alzheimer’s disease,and can even occur in patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment,which appears before Alzheimer’s *** disorders further impair cognitive function and accelerate the accumulation of amyloid-βand tau in patients with Alzheimer’s *** present,sleep disorders are considered as a risk factor for,and may be a predictor of,Alzheimer’s disease *** that sleep disorders are encountered in other types of dementia and psychiatric conditions,sleep-related biomarkers to predict Alzheimer’s disease need to have high specificity and ***,we summarize the major Alzheimer’s disease-specific sleep changes,including abnormal non-rapid eye movement sleep,sleep fragmentation,and sleep-disordered breathing,and describe their ability to predict the onset of Alzheimer’s disease at its earliest *** the mechanisms underlying these sleep changes is also crucial if we are to clarify the role of sleep in Alzheimer’s *** paper therefore explores some potential mechanisms that may contribute to sleep disorders,including dysregulation of the orexinergic,glutamatergic,andγ-aminobutyric acid systems and the circadian rhythm,together with amyloid-β*** review could provide a theoretical basis for the development of drugs to treat Alzheimer’s disease based on sleep disorders in future work.

Objective Lavender essential oil（LEO） has been used to improving sleep and alleviating symptoms of anxiety in clinic practice. The effective characteristics and mechanisms involved in LEO action on sleep-wake cycle remain unclear. Methods The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of intranasal delivering saturated LEO steam（SLEOS） on sleep-wake states and EEG power spectrums for 24 h（08:00-08:00 h） in mice. Results Odor of delivery parameter at 10 s SLEOS and 110 s fresh air（20 ml/min）, compared to control, immediately enhanced the non-REM（NREM） sleep for 20 min（08:00-08:20 h, from 7.40 ± 1.78 min to 12.05 ± 1.07 min, P ＜ 0.05） and simultaneously accompanying a reduction in wakefulness（from 11.95 ± 2.03 s to 6.70 ± 1.23 s, P ＜ 0.05）, and increased REM sleep during 08:40-09:00 h（from 0.65 ± 0.31 min to 2.10 ± 0.46 min, P ＜ 0.05）. Near the end of light period（17:00-18:00 h）, SLEOS significantly increased non-REM（NREM） sleep during 17:00-17:20 h（from 8.90 ± 1.76 min to 13.45 ± 0.27 min, P ＜ 0.05）, and REM sleep during 17:40-18:00 h（from 0.60 ± 0.26 min to 2.40 ± 0.52 min, P ＜ 0.01） again. SLEOS-induced enhancement of NREM and REM sleep was due to the increase of NREM and REM episode number, and reduction of wakefulness was because of a decrease in waking episode duration. Amount of each state across 24-h sleep-wake cycle showed that SLEOS significantly decreased wakefulness（from 311.60 ± 8.99 min to 283.85 ± 5.94 min, P ＜ 0.05）, and increased rapid eye movement（REM） sleep（from 46.40 ± 3.44 min to 56.10 ± 2.98 min, P ＜ 0.05） during light（inactive） period（08:00-20:00） and 24-h TST（from 75.15 ± 3.03 min to 85.40 ± 3.42 min, P ＜ 0.05）. SLEOS-induced sleep mainly occurred during 08:00-09:00 h and17:00-18:00 h. SLEOS significantly reduced the sleep latency in cage change（22.08 ± 3.24 min vs. 43.20 ± 6.33 min, P ＜ 0.05） compared with control group. Abstract:Objective Alarm pheromones(APs)are very important communicating substances in species survival,which conducts hazards,***,distress,presence of predators,*** the individual survival,sufficiently sleep is *** order to avoided predators,are the APs able to waking up mice during sleep time until *** Spherical Treadmill Olfaction-sleep Recording System(STOSRS)was employed in this study,the mouse(C57BL/6J)head was restrained by a head plate,and the animal was able to maneuver on the top surface of an air-supported floating Styrofoam ***(which collected during killing of mice with CO electrical stimulation after anesthesia)directional/quantitative delivered during non-rapid eye movement sleep(NREM)or rapid eye movement sleep(REM)which were determined by EEG/EMG and digital *** waking latency(WL)and EEG power analysis were used to reveal the EEG/EMG characteristics of the arousal induced by APs in ***(l)Animals were able to sleeping(NREM and REM)on the STOSRS after one week *** EEG/EMGcharacteristics of the NREM and REM sleep were similar as unrestrained ***,when the mouse was movement on the Styrofoam ball,the EEG display typical 9 wave(4.5-9.0 Hz)same as REM sleep,meanwhile,the EMG shown high activity.(2)Air delivered into nasal cavity at NREM sleep,the WL was randomly from 5 s to 116 s(n=11).APs delivered display steady WL(9.31±0.71 s,n=8)and the EEG characteristics were changed to movement wave(described above).(3)During the REM sleep,as the same effects of air,the WL was randomly from 7.5 s to 138 s(n=5)after APs delivered.(4)The distribution of Grueneberg ganglion was 3D reconstruction by using OMP-GFP *** APs can awake mice within the NREM sleep,this pivotal effect protects animals to avoided predators and contributed to species survival.
