Ceramic coatings play a keyrole in extending the service life of materials in aerospaceandenergy fields byprotectingmaterials from high temperature,oxidation,corrosion and thermal stress.Non-oxide and high entropy ceramics are new emerging coating materials which have been researched and developed in recent years.Compared with traditional oxide ceramics,non-oxide ceramics have better high temperature stability,oxidation resistance and erosion resistance.These characteristics make non-oxide ceramics perform well in extreme environments.It is particularly noteworthy that the non-oxide high entropy ceramic is a uniform solid solution composed of at least four or fiveatoms.Their unique structure and outstanding propertiesshow great potential application in the field of coating.In this paper,the researches aboutregulating microstructure,preparation technology and properties of nitride and its high entropy system,carbide and its high entropy system and boride and its high entropy system in coating field are summarized,and their future development and prospects are prospected.

Lithium sulfur batteries are one of the most promising alternative electrochemical systems,but their practical applications are largely hindered by the serious shuttling problems and sluggish redox kinetics.Here,the conductive and polar niobium nitride(NbN)is in-situ introduced onto graphene with ultrasmall size and high dispersion,and their composite is used to construct an efficient lithium polysulfide blocking layer.The graphene helps to construct highly conductive pathways,and niobium nitride serves as the sulfiphilic sites to chemically adsorb the migrating lithium polysulfides and catalyze their redox conversion.Hence,the cells with the Nb N/G interlayers exhibit a long cycle life with a lower capacity decay of 0.096%/cycle at 1 C for 300 cycles and high rate capability of 937 m Ah g^-1 at 2 C.Further coupling with a sulfur/carbon nanofiber electrode,the cell with an ultra-high sulfur loading of 10.8 mg cm^-2 delivers an areal capacity of 12.5 m Ah cm^-2 at 0.1 C.

Energy crisis,resulting from growing population and emerging progress in modern society,has received global concern over the past decades.Among these,feasible ways that can well address task-specified issues,such as available fresh water,are highly desired.In this regard,separation membranes consisting of twodimensional(2D)materials with abundant nano-pores,show great potential for water purification and seawater desalination,by virtue of their low transport resistance,high permeability and tailorable interlayer spacing(d).

A simple method to prepare two-dimensional hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN) scalably is essential for practical applications. Despite intense research in this area, high-yield production of two-dimensional h-BN with large size and high crystallinity is still a key challenge. In the present work, we propose a simple exfoliation process for boron nitride nanosheets(BNNSs) with high crystallinity by sonication-assisted hydrothermal method, via the synergistic effect of the high pressure, and cavitation of the sonication. Compared with the method only by sonication, the sonication-assisted hydrothermal method can get the fewer-layer BNNSs with high crystallinity.Meanwhile, it can reach higher yield of nearly 1.68%, as the hydrothermal method with the yield of only 0.12%. The simple sonication-assisted hydrothermal method has potential applications in exfoliating other layered materials, thus opening new ways to produce other layered materials in high yield and high crystallinity.

Graphitic carbon nitride(g-C3N4)was synthesized by heating melamine and was then treated with sodium hydroxide solution under a hydrothermal condition to obtain g-C3N4 with a large specific surface area(HSSA).HSSA shows higher photocatalytic activity for decomposition of acetaldehyde than that of original g-C3N4.HSSA was modified with RuO2 as a co-catalyst by the impregnation method.HSSA loaded with 0.05 wt%RuO2 shows the highest photocatalytic activity for acetaldehyde decomposition under visible light(k=455 nm).

The use of silicon nitride in integrated photonics has rapidly progressed in recent decades.Ultra-low-loss waveguides based on silicon nitride are a favorable platform for the research of nonlinear and microwave photonics and their application to a wide variety of fields,including precision metrology,communications,sensing,imaging,navigation,computation,and quantum physics.In recent years,the integration of Si and Ⅲ-Ⅴ materials has enabled new large-scale,advanced silicon nitride-based photonic integrated circuits with versatile functionality.In this perspective article,we review current trends and the state-of-the-art in silicon nitride-based photonic devices and circuits.We highlight the hybrid and heterogeneous integration of Ⅲ-Ⅴ with silicon nitride for electrically pumped soliton microcomb generation and ultra-low-noise lasers with fundamental linewidths in the tens of m Hz range.We also discuss several ultimate limits and challenges of silicon nitride-based photonic device performance and provide routes and prospects for future development.

Industrial production of NH3 from N2 and H2 significantly relies on Haber-Bosch process,which suffers from high energy consume and CO2 emission.As a sustainable and environmentally-benign alternative process,electrochemical artificial N2 fixation at ambient conditions,however,is highly required efficient electrocatalysts.In this study,we demonstrate that hexagonal boron nitride nanosheet (h-BNNS) is able to electrochemically catalyze N2 to NH3.In acidic solution,h-BNNS catalyst attains a high NH3 formation rate of 22.4 μg·h-1·mg-1cat.and a high Faradic efficiency of 4.7% at-0.75 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode,with excellent stability and durability.Density functional theory calculations reveal that unsaturated boron at the edge site can activate inert N2 molecule and significantly reduce the energy barrier for NH3 fonmation.

Corrosion Behaviors of nitride Coatings on Titanium Alloy in NaCl-Induced Hot Corrosion

TiN and TiAlN coatings were deposited by arc ion plating on titanium alloys to study their hot corrosion resistance when they were exposed to NaCl at 600℃.The microstructure and corrosion behaviors of nitride coatings were studied using scanning electron microscope,X-ray diffraction,electro-probe microanalyzer and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.The results showed that nitride coatings with the different compositions and the ones with the same composition but different thicknesses presented different hot corrosion resistance.TiN and thin TiAlN coatings showed poor corrosion resistance.Serious internal oxidation attacked the alloy substrate.Their corrosion products were mainly consisted of non-protective TiO2 and sodium salt.By contrast,the thick TiAlN coating presented outstanding corrosion resistance.Besides sodium salt,the corrosion products were composed of protective Al_(2)O_(3).The increasing thickness of TiAlN significantly enhanced the hot corrosion resistance.The corrosion mechanisms of alloy,TiN and TiAlN coatings were discussed in detail.

A diverse range of remarkable boron n itride (BN) nano structures subsumi ng nano-homs, nano-rods, nano-platelets, and clusters of hollow nano spheres (nano-onions, arguably of greatest applied and fun damental in terest) have bee n produced exclusively from crystalline BN precursor powder via lamp ablation. The procedure is safe, devoid of toxic reagents, simple, rapid and scalable—generating some genres of nan oparticles that had previously proved elusive. Product structure and composition were unambiguously assessed by high-resoluti on transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and electron energy loss spectroscopy.
