Understanding the mechanisms underlying cell-surface interaction is of fundamental importance for the rational design of scaffolds aiming at tissue engineering,tissue repair and neural regeneration ***,we examined patterns of neuroblastoma cells cultured in three-dimensional polymeric scaffolds obtained by two-photon *** of the intrinsic resolution of the technique,the micrometric cylinders composing the scaffold have a lateral step size of^200 nm,a surface roughness of around 20 nm,and large values of fractal dimension approaching *** found that cells in the scaffold assemble into separate groups with many elements per *** cell wiring,we found that resulting networks exhibit high clustering,small path lengths,and small-world *** values of the topological characteristics of the network can potentially enhance the quality,quantity and density of information transported in the network compared to equivalent random graphs of the same *** is one of the first direct observations of cells developing into 3D small-world networks in an artificial matrix.

neurodegenerative eye diseases, such as glaucoma, cause irreversible vision loss in millions of patients worldwide, creating serious medical, economic and social issues. Like other mammalian central nervous system tracts, optic nerve intrinsically lacks the capacity for axonal growth and its surrounding environment is also non-permissive to regeneration. Any axonal damage also triggers a vicious cycle of retinal ganglion cell （RGC） death. Exploring methods that can enhance RGCs survival and promote axonal regeneration will not only enable vision restoration for millions of patients, but also shed light on the treatment of other neurodegenerative diseases. In this review article, we will go through three current approaches to cure neu- rodegenerative eye diseases, including cell based therapy, neuro-regeneration and neuro-rejuvenation.

Clinical translation of neuro-regenerative medicine in India: A study on barriers and enabling strategies

We present the findings of a study of barriers and enabling strategies to clinical translation of neuro-Regenerative Medicine (neuro-RM) technologies in India. Twenty-three people were included in this qualitative study, including researchers, clinicians, firm representatives and policy makers working in neuro-RM. The study has identified barriers that may arise at each stage of translation and how these are being addressed. Understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of neuro-RM is being supported through government investment in existing neuroscience centres and the creation of new centres with regenerative medicine expertise. Clinical trials benefit from the support of clinicians who partner with researchers in study design and data collection. Government agencies have developed guidelines to inform best practices in preclinical and clinical studies. Addressing the barriers to neuro-RM translation identified in this study can be achieved through continued support for capacity building and priority setting in preclinical studies, international efforts to achieve clinical trial protocol standardization, and multidisciplinary collaborations between clinicians, researchers, government and industry.
