Disorders of the musculoskeletal system are the major contributors to the global burden of disease and current treatments show limited *** often suffer chronic pain and might eventually have to undergo end-stage ***,future treatments should focus on early detection and intervention of regional *** have been gradually used in organisms due to their advantages of intelligent,precise and minimally invasive targeted *** the combination of control and imaging systems,microrobots with good biosafety can be delivered to the desired area for *** the musculoskeletal system,microrobots are mainly utilized to transport stem cells/drugs or to remove hazardous substances from the *** to traditional biomaterial and tissue engineering strategies,active motion improves the efficiency and penetration of local targeting of cells/*** review discusses the frontier applications of microrobotic systems in different tissues of the musculoskeletal *** summarize the challenges and barriers that hinder clinical translation by evaluating the characteristics of different microrobots and finally point out the future direction of microrobots in the musculoskeletal system.

Biomechanics of musculoskeletal system and Its Biomimetic Implications： A Review

Biological musculoskeletal system （MSK）, composed of numerous bones, cartilages, skeletal muscles, tendons, ligaments etc., provides form, support, movement and stability for human or animal body. As the result of million years of selection and evolution, the biological MSK evolves to be a nearly perfect mechanical mechanism to support and transport the human or animal body, and would provide enormously rich resources to inspire engineers to innovate new technology and methodology to develop robots and mechanisms as effective and economical as the biological systems. This paper provides a general review of the current status of musculoskeletal biomechanics studies using both experimental and computational methods. This includes the use of the latest three-dimensional motion analysis systems, various medical imaging modalities, and also the advanced rigid-body and continuum mechanics musculoskeletal modelling techniques. Afterwards, several representative biomimetic studies based on ideas and concepts inspired from the structures and biomechanical functions of the biological MSK are dis- cussed. Finally, the major challenges and also the future research directions in musculoskeletal biomechanics and its biomimetic studies are proposed.

Infection and rejection in musculoskeletal trauma often pose challenges for natural healing,prompting the exploration of biomimetic organ and tissue transplantation as a common alternative ***(PHAs)are a large family of biopolyesters synthesised in microorganism,demonstrating excellent biocompatibility and controllable biodegradability for tissue remodelling and drug *** different monomer-combination and polymer-types,multi-mechanical properties of PHAs making them have great application prospects in medical devices with stretching,compression,twist in long time,especially in musculoskeletal tissue *** review systematically summarises the applications of PHAs in multiple tissues repair and drug release,encompassing areas such as bone,cartilage,joint,skin,tendons,ligament,cardiovascular tissue,and nervous *** also discusses challenges encountered in their application,including high production costs,potential cytotoxicity,and uncontrollable particle size *** conclusion,PHAs offer a compelling avenue for musculoskeletal system applications,striking a balance between biocompatibility and mechanical ***,addressing challenges in their production and application requires further research to unleash their full potential in tackling the complexities of musculoskeletal regeneration.

Sonoelastography in the musculoskeletal system:Current role and future directions

Ultrasound is an essential modality within musculoskeletal imaging, with the recent addition of elastography. The elastic properties of tissues are different from the acoustic impedance used to create B mode imaging and the flow properties used within Doppler imaging, hence elastography provides a different form of tissue assessment. The current role of ultrasound elastography in the musculoskeletal system will be reviewed, in particular with reference to muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and soft tissue tumours. The different ultrasound elastography methods currently available will be described, in particular strain elastography and shear wave elastography. Future directions of ultrasound elastography in the musculoskeletal system will also be discussed.

Simulation Architecture for Modelling Interaction Between User and Elbow-articulated Exoskeleton

The aim of our work is to improve the existing user-exoskeleton models by introducing a simulation architecture that can simulate its dynamic interaction, thereby altering the initial motion of the user. A simulation architecture is developed that uses the musculoskeletal models from OpenSim, and that implements an exoskeleton control algorithm and human response model in Matlab. The musculoskeletal models need to be extended with the response of a user to external forces to simulate the dy- namic interaction. A set of experiments was performed to fit this response model. A validation test showed that more than 80% of the variance of the motion could be explained. With the human response model in the combined simulation architecture, a simulation in which an object connects with the exoskeleton or with the human is performed. The effect of the exoskeleton on, among others, muscle excitation and altered motion can be assessed with this architecture. Our work can be used to better predict the effect an exoskeleton has on the user.

BACKGROUND Although the impact of microbial infections on orthopedic clinical outcomes is well recognized,the influence of viral infections on the musculoskeletal system might have been *** To systematically review the available evidence on risk factors and musculoskeletal manifestations following viral infections and to propose a pertinent classification *** We searched MEDLINE,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(CENTRAL),the Reference Citation Analysis(RCA),and Scopus for completed studies published before January 30,2021,to evaluate risk factors and bone and joint manifestations of viral infection in animal models and patient *** assessment was performed using SYRCLE's risk of bias tool for animal studies,Moga score for case series,Wylde score for registry studies,and Newcastle-Ottawa Scale for case-control *** Six human and four animal studies were eligible for inclusion in the qualitative *** C virus was implicated in several peri-and post-operative complications in patients without cirrhosis after major orthopedic *** virus may affect the integrity of lumbar discs,whereas Ross River and Chikungunya viruses provoke viral arthritis and bone *** Evidence of moderate strength suggested that viruses can cause moderate to severe arthritis and *** factors such as pre-existing rheumatologic disease contributed to higher disease severity and duration of ***,based on our literature search,the proposed clinical and pathogenetic classification scheme is as follows:(1)Viral infections of bone or joint;(2)Active bone and joint inflammatory diseases secondary to viral infections in other organs or tissues;and(3)Viral infection as a risk factor for post-surgical bacterial infection.

Relationship between Muscle Strength, Muscle Mass and BMD in Postmenopausal Female of Zhuang in Guangxi Province of China

Objective: To explore the correlation between muscle strength, muscle mass and bone mineral density (BMD) in Zhuang female population, body composition analysis and grip strength, and to analyze the possible influencing factors of BMD. Methods: 182 postmenopausal women were selected from Guangxi Province of China. Broadband ultrasound attenuation (BUA) was used to evaluate BMD. Grip dynamometer to assess muscle strength. Height, weight and muscle mass of each part were measured by body composition measuring instrument. Body mass index (BMI), skeletal muscle mass index (SMI) and limb skeletal muscle mass (SM) were calculated according to the measurement results. Results: BUA, grip strength and SMI in postmenopausal women of Zhuang nationality showed a decreasing trend with age (p p p r = 0.305, p Conclusion: With the increase of age, the decline rate of muscle strength of postmenopausal Zhuang women in Guangxi is slower than that of BMD and muscle mass. SM can better reflect the BMD level of the body than SMI, and the LSM is the main influencing factor of BMD.
