A monitoring method of biofouling in reverse osmosis(RO) system was proposed based on the fluorescent signal of resorufin, which is reduced by nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide released from viable cells during aerobic respiration. The fluorescent signal of resorufin reduced by planktonic cells and microorganisms of biofilm showed linearity, indicating its feasibility to monitor biofouling in a RO system. For the application of the method to the lab-scale RO system, the injection concentration of resazurin and the injection flow rate were optimized. Biofilm on RO membranes continuously operated in a lab-scale RO system was estimated by resorufin fluorescence under optimized detection condition. As a result,resorufin fluorescence on RO membrane showed a significant increase in which the permeability of RO system decreased by 30.48%. Moreover, it represented the development of biofilm as much as conventional biofilm parameters such as adenosine triphosphate,extracellular polymeric substances, and biofilm thickness. The proposed method could be used as a sensitive and low-cost technology to monitor biofouling without autopsy of membranes.

For studying the strata behavior due to multi-slicing top coal caving longwall mining along-the-strike direction in steeply dipping extra thick coal seams,the shield support pressures of the upper and lower slices of panel 37220 in Dongxia Coal Mine were monitored using the KJ513 dynamic monitoring *** set up rooms adopted the "horizontal line-arc segment-inclined line" form and used different types of shield *** results show that the strata pressure of upper slice panel 37220-1 changed slightly along the strike direction,while along the dip direction it exhibited strong to weak pressure from bottom to *** first weighting interval of lower slice panel 37220-2 was about 60.8 m,and the average periodic weighting interval were about 22.6 *** strata behavior of panel 37220-2 exhibited a spatiotemporal characteristic in that periodic weighting occurred first in the middle-upper part,followed by the middle and upper parts,arc segment,and finally the lower *** the periodic weighting,the weighting interval and intensity also exhibited strong space *** average dynamic load coefficient was 1.48 and the maximum lateral load of the side shield was 20-25 MPa.

This paper considers the processes of activation in ground subsidence movements in flooding mine workings of mines being liquidated in two districts in Donetsk city on the area of more than 60km^2. A concept is given to build up control network of geomechanical monitoring in conditions of existing old mining operations at shallow depths (down to 100m), strong damages of objects of urban building. Given are GPS network structure, layouts for location of basic and local profile lines, special control stations for monitoring ground subsidence movements over the territory of mines being flooded. Results of the series of observations made are discussed and their accuracy is analyzed.

In January 2008, South China experienced extremely low temperatures, heavy snowstorms, and severe frosts (2008 Frost Disaster, for short), which led to (partial) failures of observations from ground stations and ground radars resulting in a lack of necessary emergency information. To compensate for the failure of ground observations and to provide timely disaster information, the National Satellite Meteorological Center of China (NSMC) established a snow storm monitoring system for the 2008 Frost Disaster, which was based on the WRF Three Dimension Variational Assimilation and Forecast system (with NOAH as the land surface sub-process model) cooperatively developed by NSMC and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), US. This system made full use of ATOVS and NCEP data to provide estimates of snow water equivalent every 6 hours during the storm. In this study, the ATOVS assimilation based snowstorm monitoring scheme was explored in detail, while the modeled results with and without ATOVS assimilation were compared against related observations. Results showed that the coupling of ATOVS assimilation into the proposed monitoring system evidently delineates weather characteristics of the snowstorm process more accurately, and demonstrated the feasibility of the system for snowstorm monitoring and forecasting. Through theoretical analyses and case discussion, this study proposes a reliable and practicable scheme to provide timely and accurate information on snow spatial distribution and temporal development for disaster mitigation, and illustrates a new application of ATOVS data.

The cell membrane is a critical barrier for cellular homeostasis,integral to signaling and intercellular communication,and vital for understanding cellular functions and disease *** its microenvironment is crucial for uncovering the molecular basis of physiological and pathological processes associated with the cell membrane,driving the development of bioanalytical toolkits capable of dynamically monitoring the cell surface *** the continuous advancement of functional nucleic acids and dynamic DNA nanotechnology,DNA nanodevices with controllable nanosized geometry,specific molecular recognition,and selective membrane-localization properties offer a versatile platform for probing the cell membrane *** this review,we summarize the current biosensing and membrane-anchoring mechanisms of DNA nanodevices and highlight their use in studying key cell membrane events,including membrane lipid dynamics,transmembrane transport,receptor dimerization,and signal ***,we discuss the challenges and potential future applications of DNA nanodevices in advancing cell membrane biology research and biomedical applications.

monitoring Winter Wheat Freeze Injury Using Multi-Temporal MODIS Data

Freeze injury is an usual disaster for winter wheat in Shanxi Province, China, and monitoring freeze injury is of important economic significance. The aim of this article is to monitor and analyze the winter wheat freeze injury using remote sensing data, to monitor the occurrence and spatial distribution of winter wheat freeze in time, as well as the severity of the damage. The winter wheat freeze injury was monitored using multi-temporal moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer （MODIS） data, combined with ground meteorological data and field survey data, the change of normalized difference vegetation index （NDVI） before and after freeze injury was analyzed, as well as the effect of winter wheat growth recovery rate on yield. The results showed that the NDVI of winter wheat decreased dramatically after the suffering from freeze injury, which was the prominent feature for the winter wheat freeze injury monitoring. The degrees of winter wheat freeze injury were different in the three regions, of which, Yuncheng was the worst severity and the largest freeze injury area, the severity of freeze injury correlates with the breeding stage of the winter wheat. The yield of winter wheat showed positive correlation with its growth recovery rate （r=0.659^＊＊ which can be utilized to monitor the severity of winter wheat freeze injury as well as its impact on yield. It can effectively monitor the occurrence and severity of winter wheat freeze injury using horizontal and vertical profile distribution and growth wheat freeze injury in Shanxi Province. recovery rate, and provide a basis for monitoring the winter

Low frequency infrasonic waves are emitted during the formation and movement of debris flows, which are detectable in a radius of several kilometers, thereby to serve as the precondition for their remote ***, false message often arises from the simple mechanics of alarms under the ambient noise *** improve the accuracy of infrasound monitoring for early-warning against debris flows, it is necessary to analyze the monitor information to identify in them the infrasonic signals characteristic of debris ***, a large amount of debris flow infrasound and ambient noises have been collected from different sources for analysis to sum up their frequency spectra, sound pressures, waveforms, time duration and other correlated characteristics so as to specify the key characteristic parameters for different sound sources in completing the development of the recognition system of debris flow infrasonic signals for identifying their possible existence in the monitor *** recognition performance of the system has been verified by simulating tests and long-term in-situ monitoring of debris flows in Jiangjia Gully,Dongchuan, China to be of high accuracy and *** recognition system can provide the local government and residents with accurate precautionary information about debris flows in preparation for disaster mitigation and minimizing the loss of life and property.
