An interval algorlthm for inequality coustrained discrete minimax problems is described, in which the constrained and objective functions are C1 functions. First, based on the penalty function methods, we trans form this problem to unconstrained optimization. Second, the interval extensions of the penalty functions and the test rules of region deletion are discussed. At last, we design an interval algorithm with the bisection rule of Moore. The algorithm provides bounds on both the minimax value and the localization of the minimax points of the problem. Numerical results show that algorithm is reliable and efficiency.

Conservative management of acute appendicitis (AA) is gradually being adopted as a valuable therapeutic choice in the treatment of selected patients with AA. This approach is based on the results of many recent studies indicating that it is a valuable and effective alternative to routine emergency appendectomy. Existing data do not support routine interval appendectomy following successful conservative management of AA; indeed, the risk of recurrence is low. Moreover, recurrences usually exhibit a milder clinical course compared to the first episode of AA. The role of routine interval appendectomy is also questioned recently, even in patients with AA complicated by plastron or localized abscess formation. Surgical judgment is required to avoid misdiagnosis when selecting a conservative approach in patients with a presumed “appendiceal” mass.

We present an overview of approaches to selfvalidating?one-dimensional integration quadrature formulas and?a verified numerical integration algorithm with an adaptive?strategy. Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate whole-muscle content of several proteins involved in the regulation of skeletal muscle mitochondrial protein content and anaerobic capacity following 4 weeks of extremely low-volume high-intensity interval training (HIT). Methods: Young, healthy, recreationally active adult males (n = 8) trained 4 times a week for 4 weeks on a cycle ergometer. Each session involved 4 min of total exercise comprised of eight 20 s intervals at ~170% of peak aerobic power separated by 10 s rest. Muscle biopsies were taken prior to (pre) and ~72 hrs post-training (post). Par- ticipants completed an incremental peak oxygen up- take (VO2peak) test and a Wingate test pre-, mid-, and post-training. Results: VO2peak was elevated (p p < 0.05) and post-training (pre: 40.5 ± 3.8 ml·kg-1·min-1, mid: 43.4 ± 2.5 ml·kg-1·min-1, post-: 47.2 ± 2.9 ml·kg-1·min-1). Wingate mean power also increased with training (pre-: 701.0 ± 73.0 W, mid-: 745.5 ± 73.3 W, post-: 786.8 ± 80.0 W). While maximal citrate synthase activity was unchanged, protein expression of the mitochondrial protein cytochrome c oxidase (COX) subunit I (+27%;p p p = 0.08) increased. Increases (p α (+19%), and nuclear PGC-1α (+46%) were also observed after 4 weeks of HIT. No changes were observed in the whole-muscle contents of PDHe1a, PDK4, SIRT1, mTOR, S6K1, MCT1, or PFK protein. Conclusions: These results demonstrate that several mitochondrial protein (but not citrate synthase activity), PGC-1α protein content, and exercise capacity can be improved in only 4 min of total training time per day, 4 days per wk using HIT cycle training.

Aerobic capacity, which is expressed as peak oxygen consumption (VO2peak), is well-known to be an independent predictor of all-cause mortality and cardiovascular prognosis. This is true even for people with various coronary risk factors and cardiovascular diseases. Although exercise training is the best method to improve VO2peak, the guidelines of most academic societies recommend 150 or 75 min of moderate- or vigorous- intensity physical activities, respectively, every week to gain health benefits. For general health and primary and secondary cardiovascular prevention, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) has been recognized as an efficient exercise protocol with short exercise sessions. Given the availability of the numerous HIIT protocols, which can be classified into aerobic HIIT and anaerobic HIIT [usually called sprint interval training (SIT)], professionals in health-related fields, including primary physicians and cardiologists, may find it confusing when trying to select an appropriate protocol for their patients. This review describes the classifications of aerobic HIIT and SIT, and their differences in terms of effects, target subjects, adaptability, working mechanisms, and safety. Understanding the HIIT protocols and adopting the correct type for each subject would lead to better improvements in VO2peak with higher adherence and less risk.

在传统的DEA模型中,最优相对效率模型是在不大于1的范围内研究决策单元的效率的,最差相对效率模型是在不小于1的范围内研究决策单元的效率,这两种模型在研究投影问题时,是在不同的范围内进行的,有一定的片面性.将在interval DEA模型中,研究决策单元的投影问题,该模型是在相同的约束域内研究最优和最差相对效率模型,得出的结论将更加全面,通过两个定理给出了非DEA有效的决策单元在DEA有效面上的投影表达式和非DEA无效的决策单元在DEA无效面上的投影表达式.同时,通过一个实例对决策单元在interval DEA模型中的投影结果与在传统的DEA模型的投影结果进行了比较,发现投影结果比传统模型得到的投影结果对实际的生产有更强的指导意义.

In order to solve the constrained global optimization problem,we use penalty functions not only on constraints but also on objective function. Then within the framework of interval analysis,an interval Branch-and-Bound algorithm is given,which does not need to solve a sequence of unconstrained problems. Global convergence is proved. Numerical examples show that this algorithm is efficient.

This study considers the estimation of Maximum Likelihood Estimator and the Bayesian Estimator of the Weibull distribution with interval-censored data. The Bayesian estimation can’t be used to solve the parameters analytically and therefore Markov Chain Monte Carlo is used, where the full conditional distribution for the scale and shape parameters are obtained via Metropolis-Hastings algorithm. Also Lindley’s approximation is used. The two methods are compared to maximum likelihood counterparts and the comparisons are made with respect to the mean square error (MSE) to determine the best for estimating of the scale and shape parameters.

The system of linear equations plays a vital role in real life problems such as optimization, economics, and engineering. The parameters of the system of linear equations are modeled by taking the experimental or observation data. So the parameters of the system actually contain uncertainty rather than the crisp one. The uncertainties may be considered in term of interval or fuzzy numbers. In this paper, a detailed study of three solution techniques namely Classical Method, Extension Principle method and α-cuts and interval Arithmetic Method to solve the system of fuzzy linear equations has been done. Appropriate applications are given to illustrate each technique. Then we discuss the comparison of the different methods numerically and graphically.
