For the study of the effect of Plagodent and Palladent noble alloy dentures (OJSC "SIC 'Supermetal'", Russia), the elemental compositions of the fluids obtained from gingival sulcus of abutment teeth of metal ceramic dentures with frames made of the above-stated dental alloys, have been investigated. Response of white blood cells and fibroblasts in the gingival fluid and the mixed saliva of the patients a long time after prosthetic repair, relying on the content of proinflammatory interleukins IL-1 β and IL-6, anti-inflammatory interleukins IL-4 and IL-10, the factor of tumor necrosis TNF-α and lactoferrin, has been investigated. The results obtained have convincingly proved the biosafety of the Plagodent and Palladent noble alloys.

Background Gastroesophageal reflux disease with extra-esophageal symptoms, especially those with respiratory distress was attracting more and more attention. The related mechanisms were still in controversy. The purpose of the work was to explore airway inflammation triggered by gastroesophageal reflux. Methods Sixteen Sprague-Dawley rats were used as study group and 9 as control. In the study group, a plastic extender with a trumpet-shaped distal end was inserted into the lower esophagus to dilate the cardia, the pylorus was ligated. One ml of 0.1 mol/L hydrochloric acid was injected into the stomach. While a simple laparotomy was performed for control animals. All animals from two groups were sacrificed 24 hours after operation. Then tracheotomy was carried and the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid was collected in all animals. Cells in the fluid were counted and levels of interleukin （IL）-5, -6, -8 in it were measured. Results Compared with control group, the study group presented a neutrophil pattern of airway inflammation and an elevated concentration of IL-5, -6, -8 with no significant difference regarding eosinophil count. Conclusion The gastroesophageal reflux-triggered airway inflammation is characterized by a neutrophilic airway inflammation which differed from that caused by asthma, and enhanced levels of IL-5, -6 and -8, which are similar to that caused by asthma.

Background The interleukin(IL)-32/tumor necrosis factor(TNF) α pathway is supposed to play a key role in the amplification of the immune response in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) inflammation. Inhaled corticosteroids(ICS) in combination with long-acting β2-agonists(LABA) have shown airway anti-inflammatory effects in recent studies, but the mechanism is still uncertain. Methods Patients were treated in a randomized, open-labeled, parallel group clinical trial with either a combination of salmeterol xinafoate/fluticasone propionate(SF; Seretide, GlaxoSmithKline) Diskus(50/500 μg twice daily) or ipratropium bromide/salbutamol(IS; Combivent, Boehringer Ingelheim) MDI(42 μg/240 μg quartic daily) for 12 weeks. At the start and the end of treatment, induced sputum was collected and the concentration of IL-32 and TNF-α, the number of neutrophils and eosinophils were *** Following 12 weeks of treatment, a statistically significant fall from baseline in the concentration of TNF-α in sputum(P=0.004) was seen after treatment with SF but not with IS. However, neither treatment had significant effects on the concentration of IL-32 in sputum. There was a decrease from baseline in the number of sputum neutrophils with SF that approached statistical significance(P=0.028) but not with IS, while the number of sputum eosinophils did not change significantly from baseline in either treatment group. There was a statistically significant decline from baseline in the quality of life as assessed by the St George’s respiratory questionnaire in both the SF(P=0.004) and IS(P=0.030) treatment groups, but no evidence of improvement in lung function was observed in either *** The sputum TNF-α and neutrophils, but not IL-32 and macrophages, could be reduced by ICS/LABA treatment, suggesting that IL-32 could be involved in the corticosteroid resistance of COPD inflammation.

Objective： To observe the regulatory effect of moxibustion on the expression of CD86 and CD163, which are the important functional phenotypes of macrophage differentiation in lung tissue of ulcerative colitis（UC） rats. The mechanism of the regulatory effect of moxibustion for macrophage differentiation based on the key cytokine interferon-gamma（IFN-γ）, tumor necrosis death factor-alpha（TNF-α）, interleukin- 4（IL-4） and interleukin-13（IL-13） was also explored. Methods： Forty SD rats were randomly divided into a normal group（NG）, a model group（MG）, a normal moxibustion group（NMG） and a smokeless moxibustion group（SMG）. The model of UC was made by antigen immunization combined with enema with topical formalin. The rats in the normal moxibustion group accepted moxibustion at bilateral Tianshu（ST 25）, while the rats in the smokeless moxibustion group with smokeless moxibustion at bilateral Tianshu（ST 25）, each 10 min, once a day for 8 d. After treatments, the hematoxylin-eosin（HE） staining was used to observe the pathological changes of colonic tissue, the Western blotting（WB） was used to observe the expression of CD86 and CD163, two important functional phenotypes of macrophage differentiation in lung tissue of UC rats, while the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay（ELISA） was used to assess the content of IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-4 and IL-13, the key cytokines of macrophage differentiation in micro environment of the lung tissue. Results： Compared with the NG, the colons of rats in MG were injured more seriously, and the scores of gross observation and histological examination were significantly higher（P〈0.05）. Compared with the MG, the pathological changes of the two groups of rats with moxibustion treatment were improved, which presented with ulcer repair, inflammation dissipation, and the general score and histological score of the two groups were decreased（P〈0.05）. Two selective phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) inhibitors—viz., crisaborole (Eucrisa®, Pfizer) and apremilast (Otezla®, Celgene)—have recently received approval by the United States Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of related but different dermatologic skin conditions (viz., atopic dermatitis and plaque psoriasis, respectively). The purpose of this review is to summarize the underlying biochemistry and pathophysiology associated with these dermatologic conditions, review the chemistry, pharmacology and safety of each of these products, and present preclinical and clinical evidence that may help explain why these two PDE4 inhibitors offer new treatment options for these skin conditions.

A number of cytokines are secreted during HIV infection that enhances both innate and adaptive immune responses. Interferon-α/β/γ, IL-12, IL-15 and IL-18 have been found to contribute to the development, maturation, differentiation and function of NK and other immune cells. The levels of IFN-α/β/γ, IL-12, IL-15 and IL-18 were compared in the plasma of 90 HIV-1 infected and 90 HIV-2 infected subjects by ELISA or Cytometric Beads Array assays. The HIV-infected subjects were stratified according to CD4+ T cell counts into three groups: >500, 200 - 500 and + T cell counts (p = 0.001). The levels of IFN-β were seen to differ between the two infections in patients from the category of medium CD4+ T cell counts: this was significantly increased in HIV-2 infected patients (p + T cell categories except for an increase in HIV-2 infected patients at low CD4+ T cell counts (p = 0.02). The levels of these cytokines were similar in all HIV-1 subjects. Also, the level of IL-12p70 was similar between the two infections but significantly higher in HIV-2 at low compared to medium CD4+ T cells categories (p = 0.047). Similar to IFN-γ and IL-12p70, the levels of both IL-18 and IL-15 were found to be significantly higher in HIV-2 infected patients compared to HIV-1 at low CD4+ T cell counts (p < 0.05). These data show that there is variability in the levels of innate cytokines at different stages of HIV infection but the finding of increased IFN-α in HIV-2 infected asymptomatic subjects is consistent with the high innate NK respo
