On the basis of statistical description of the typical facts of China’s monthly import and export data relations during the period of 1990-2010,and making use of the unit root and cointegration verification techniques of endogenous structural break,this paper conducts an empirical analysis of the sustainability of China’s trade surplus.The results show that between China’s import and export there exists a long-term equilibrium relationship in which changes are found in the intercept items and the slope items.The trade surplus has weak sustainability.Due to the restrain of the long-term balanced relationship between the import and export,the deviation from equilibrium of export will be corrected in the next term.Therefore,policies aiming at adjusting the trade balance(external)should take full account of this feature.

Exosomes have been recognized as extracellular vesicles that mediate systemic information exchange and long-distance interactions between cells.1 Their functions are all highly reliant on systemic biological distribution so that it is possible to promote the biological effects for therapy by accurately manipulating exosome biodistribution.However,given that the mechanisms for regulating the exosome biodistribution are unclear,it is challengeable to achieve the manipulation of exosome biodistribution by regulating molecular signals.Recently,Liu et al.2 reported a vesicle shuttle(VS),which was composed of a ferroferric oxide core,a silica shell,and a stimuli-cleavable poly(ethylene glycol)corona conjugated to two types of antibody(one against antigens on the exosomes of interest,and the other targeted to the recipient injured cells).2 They showed that the VS could effectively collect,transport,and release circulating exosomes to the designated areas inside the organism.

The endogenous GAs, ABA and IAA in the shoot apices of 8-year-old Chinese pines, flowered, non-flowered and non-flowered but treated with GA4/7 were analyzed by GC-MS-SIM.The results demonstrated that GA3 and GA9 levels were obviously higher in flowered plants than in non-flowered. A peak value of GA3 in flowered plants occurred after appearance of the earliest auxiliary bud primorda which had the possibility of transforming into male cone bud primordia and before the morphological initiation of male cone bud primordia. Exogenously applied GA4/7 could enhance the endogenous GA3 and GA9, this may benefit the promotion of male cone buds in Chinese pine. The relations among ex-ogenously applied GA4/7 endogenous GAs, ABA and IAA in the shoot apices, and the initiation of male cone bud are discussed.

endogenous auxin is an important regulator of in vivo organ development,but its role in in vitro organogenesis is unclear.It has been observed that the basal end of epicotyl cuttings of juvenile citrus seedlings produces fewer shoots than the apical end.Here,we report that elevated endogenous auxin levels in the basal end of citrus epicotyl cuttings are inhibitory for in vitro shoot organogenesis.Using transgenic citrus plants expressing an auxin-inducible GUS reporter gene,we have observed elevated levels of auxin at the basal end of stem cuttings that are mediated by polar auxin transport.Depleting endogenous auxin or blocking polar auxin transport enhances shoot organogenesis.An auxin transport inhibitor,N-1-naphthylphthalamic acid(NPA),can also enhance shoot organogenesis independent of its action on polar auxin transport.Finally,we demonstrate that the promotional effects of depleting endogenous auxin or blocking polar auxin transport on shoot organogenesis are cytokinin-dependent.Our study thus provides meaningful insights into possible roles of endogenous auxin and polar auxin transport,as well as auxin–cytokinin interactions,in in vitro shoot organogenesis.Meanwhile,our results may also provide practical strategies for improving in vitro shoot organogenesis for citrus and many other plant species.

MicroRNAs(miRNAs),a class of endogenous single-stranded short noncoding RNAs,have emerged as vital epigenetic regulators of both pathological and physiological processes in animals.They direct fundamental cellular pathways and processes by fine-tuning the expression of multiple genes at the posttranscriptional level.Growing evidence suggests that mi RNAs are implicated in the onset and development of rheumatoid arthritis(RA).RA is a chronic inflammatory disease that mainly affects synovial joints.This common autoimmune disorder is characterized by a complex and multifaceted pathogenesis,and its morbidity,disability and mortality rates remain consistently high.More in-depth insights into the underlying mechanisms of RA are required to address unmet clinical needs and optimize treatment.Herein,we comprehensively review the deregulated mi RNAs and impaired cellular functions in RA to shed light on several aspects of RA pathogenesis,with a focus on excessive inflammation,synovial hyperplasia and progressive joint damage.This review also provides promising targets for innovative therapies of RA.In addition,we discuss the regulatory roles and clinical potential of extracellular mi RNAs in RA,highlighting their prospective applications as diagnostic and predictive biomarkers.

Dear Editor,Aquareovirus(ARV,Reoviridae)causes hemorrhagic disease in the economically important golden shiner and grass carp of America and China,respectively(Nason et al.,2000;Fang et al.,2005).Reoviridae members are characterized by endogenous transcription of their multipartite genomes within capsids of 1-3 layers and are further classified based on the presence(Spinareovirinae subfamily,9 genera)or absence(Sedoreovirinae subfamily,6 genera)of mRNA-capping turrets along the innermost layer(King et al.,2012).

Gas therapy(GT)exhibits great potential for clinical application due to its high therapeutic efficiency,low systemic side effects,and biosafety,thereinto,a multifunctional nanoplatform is generally needed for controllable gas release and precise delivery to tumor tissue.In this review,the recent development of multifunctional nanoplatforms for efficient tumor delivery of stimuliresponsive gas-releasing molecules(GRMs),which could be triggered by either exogenous physical or endogenous tumor microenvironment(TME)is summarized.The reported therapeutic gas molecules,including oxygen(O_(2)),hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S),nitric oxide(NO),hydrogen(H_(2)),and carbon monoxide(CO),etc.,could directly influence or change the pathological status.Additionally,abundant nanocarriers have been employed for gas delivery into cancer region,such as mesoporous silica nanoparticles(MSNs),metal-organic frameworks(MOFs),two-dimensional(2D)nanomaterials,and liposomes,as well as nonnanocarriers including inorganic and organic nanoparticles.In the end,the outlooks of current challenges of GT and GRMs delivery nanoplatforms as well as the prospects of future clinical applications are proposed.

Following cell death,DNA can be released into the blood plasma and other body fluids in the form of cell-free DNA(cfDNA).These DNA fragments are typically~167 bp in length,corresponding to the length of DNA wrapped around one nucleosome core(147 bp),plus DNA tails that survive endogenous DNase digestion(~10 bp).CfDNA is derived from a variety of sources,each having unique diagnostic applications.During pregnancy,fetal-derived cfDNA within an expectant mother’s blood plasma can diagnose fetal genetic abnormalities and is a well-established method for non-invasive prenatal testing.Cancer-derived cfDNA is also detectable within blood plasma by high sensitivity methods(e.g.,NGS,ddPCR)and can accurately diagnose cancers by a minimally invasive blood test(Diehl et al.,2008).The short half-life of cfDNA(<2 hours)also facilitates real-time measurement of disease burden,such as monitoring cancer relapse.There is now growing evidence of brain-derived cfDNA(bd-cfDNA)within the cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)and blood plasma.In this perspective,we review the present understanding,current challenges,and potential utility of bd-cfDNA.

endogenous endophthalmitis is a devastating infection of the eye which can lead to permanent blindness. We report two rare cases of paediatric endogenous endophthalmitis secondary to melioidosis with contrasting visual outcomes. Both patients presented with acute painful visual loss with poor vision on presentation after exposure to open water sources (swimming at two separate locations with waterfalls). Both were diagnosed to have melioidosis endogenous endophthalmitis based on the ocular features clinically and via positive melioidosis serology. They otherwise did not exhibit any symptoms and signs suggestive of systemic melioidosis infection. Even though the two children demonstrated severe ocular involvement, ocular culture from vitreous and aqueous sampling taken from one of the patients did not yield any positive results. No ocular sampling was taken from the other patient. After standard antimicrobial treatment, the first patient responded well with good visual recovery without requiring any surgical intervention for the endophthalmitis. In contrast, our second patient ended up with poor visual outcome despite undergoing multiple intravitreal antibiotic injections and early pars plana vitrectomy. This is because he developed extensive retinal detachment due to the aggressive ocular infection. The diagnosis of endogenous endophthalmitis due to ocular melioidosis remains challenging and requires a high index of suspicion in areas endemic for the causative organism. Early empirical antibiotic treatment should be initiated in suspicious cases, even though the treatment outcomes may vary greatly.
