Integrated Control Strategy for CVT Powertrains with Consideration of Vehicle drivability

During shift,power flow is not interrupted in powertrains equipped with continuously variable transmission（CVT）.When hard acceleration is commanded,engine speed will flare and corresponding torque will be consumed,which leads to a drop in vehicle drive torque and also the vehicle *** is the reason why CVT vehicles have poor drivability during hard acceleration *** method such as torque compensation doesn＇t always work due to the limited backup torque of *** to this,means to evaluate the drivability of CVT vehicles are studied,affect factors of drivability are analyzed in *** acceleration process of CVT vehicle is studied by theoretical analysis,based on which engine torque and ratio change rate of CVT are identified as two key control parameters that decide the drivability of CVT vehicles during hard acceleration ***,a control strategy based on restricting the change rate of CVT ratio together with torque compensation is proposed,and two different algorithms to establish the limitation of ratio change rate are *** two algorithms are simulated and compared with each other,results indicate that drop of vehicle acceleration is eliminated evidently by limit the change rate of CVT ratio,but small ratio change rate also results in a longer time to finish the accelerate process,an algorithm to decide a proper ratio change rate is needed in order to tune these different *** order to get better control effects,a new fuzzy logic based algorithm is proposed to decide a proper ratio change rate during kick down conditions,simulation and experiment results indicate that,the amount of vehicle acceleration decrease is reduced from about 1 m/s2 to almost 0,in the mean time the accelerate process only delayed for about 0.3 *** proposed control strategy and algorithm can effectively tune the characteristics of CVT equipped vehicle during kick down conditions.

Study on pile drivability with one dimensional wave propagation theory

Pile drivability is a key problem during the stage of design and construction installation of pile foundations. The solution to the one dimensional wave equation was used to determine the impact force at the top of a concrete pile for a given ram mass, cushion stiffness, and pile impedance. The kinematic equation of pile toe was established and solved based on wave equation theory. The movements of the pile top and pile toe were presented, which clearly showed the dynamic displacement, including rebound and penetration of pile top and toe. A parametric study was made with a full range of practical values of ram weight, cushion stiffness, dropheight, and pile impedance. Suggestions for optimizing the parameters were also presented. Comparisons between the results obtained by the present solution and in-situ measurements indicated the reliability and validity of the method.

For a single-motor parallel hybrid electric vehicle, during mode transitions （especially the transition from electric drive mode to engine/parallel drive mode, which requires the clutch engagement）, the drivability of the vehicle will be signifi- cantly affected by a clutch torque induced disturbance, driveline oscillations and jerks which can occur without adequate controls. To improve vehicle drivability during mode transitions for a single-motor parallel hybrid electric vehicle, two controllers are proposed. The first controller is the engine-side controller for engine cranking/starting and speed synchronization. The second controller is the motor-side controller for achieving a smooth mode transition with reduced driveline oscillations and jerks under the clutch torque induced disturbance and system uncertainties. The controllers are all composed of a feed-forward control and a robust feedback control. The robust controllers are designed by using the mu synthesis method. In the design process, control- oriented system models that take account of various parameter uncertainties and un-modeled dynamics are used. The results of the simulation demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithms.

The traditional drivability calibration is a very time consuming manual process and it must be done on entire *** paper discussed a highly automated drivability calibration method that can be carried out with powertrain-in-loop test system,which significantly improves drivability calibration *** this method,a DOE test plan regarding calibration parameters and operating point parameters is setup,and then these parameters are automatically modified according to the plan before each test Driving operations are also automatically performed on testbed and the objective drivability evaluation tool gives scores for each *** the ratings are restored and the mathematical models are created automatically basing on these *** optimization results and the calibrated new maps are obtained basing on the *** ECU parameter calibration test dealing with long response delay was performed on powertrain testbed to verify this method and the results proved that this method had effectively and efficiently improved the drivability performance of the tested vehicle for the target problems.

In view of the influence of PHEV’ s complicated control strategy and operation mode on driving performance,the subjective and objective evaluation testing are conducted on a PHEV passenger vehicle with a DCT powertrain combination of three-cylinder machine and built-in *** results show that in the operation of switching between hybrid and pure electric modes there are much more disadvantages to the drivability evaluation,including engine start and stop,automatic transmission shift,as well as engine and motor speed torque *** longitudinal acceleration of the studied vehicle does not fluctuate greatly during the mode switching process,which indicates that the drivability calibration was being performed to get the optimized data in the development The transmission of the studied vehicle has obvious shift shock,but the shift response,engine start-stop performance and vehicle comfort score are *** the starting condition and acceleration process,the motor has fast response,small vibration and good subjective feeling,which reflects the unique configuration advantages of PHEV in driving performance.

A control-oriented drivability model for en electric vehicle is described. The developed model is capable of predicting longitudinal vehicle responses that affect *** model is implemented in Simulink and validated by CRUISE,and the results demonstrate sufficient accuracy for the developed model. The model is useful for design,improvement and calibration of control algorithms and strategies.

Desktop calibration of automatic transmission for passenger vehicle

Desktop calibration of automatic transmission(AT) is a method which can reduce cost, enhance efficiency and shorten the development periods of a vehicle effectively. We primary introduced the principle and approach of desktop calibration of AT based on the condition of coupling characteristics between engine and torque converter and obtained right point exactly. It is shown to agree with experimental measurements reasonably well. It was used in different applications abroad based on AT technology and achieved a good performance of the vehicle compared with traditional AT technology which primary focuses on the drivability, performance and fuel consumption.

The current research on hybrid electric vehicles(HEV)has two aims:to improve fuel economy while also attempting to minimize emissions;and to implement a coordinated control strategy for powertrain components to satisfy the driver’s power demand and ensure smooth power *** powertrain control strategies of improving drivability, this paper summarizes and extensively overviews the state-of-the-art electromechanical coupling architecture of hybrid powertrains,with simply analysis and advantages represented in these ***,it reviews the coordinated control strategies for HEV in mode-switch and gear *** is clear that the utilization of planetary gear sets and advanced transmissions such as e-CVT,DCT,*** done so much contribution to optimal powertrain control strategies for hybrid vehicles,there remains further scope for devoted researchers into drivability.

When the hybrid cars driving in the crowded city,frequent starting of the engine is inevitable and the driving performance in engine starting process is t-he key indicator of the customer’ s evaluation of the *** this paper,a systematic analysis of the engine starting process is carried out for a P2 configuration hybrid electric *** on the above theoretical research,a kind of evaluation method is developed,which can be objective and reproducible to evaluate the driving performance of vehicle during the engine starting *** on this method,the test is carried out on the powertrain *** test results show that the method is *** is the key way to evaluate the driving performance of engine starting process,and it is also an important basis for the selection of the engine starting strategy.
