Sperm are haploid,but must be functionally equivalent to distribute alleles equally among progeny.Accordingly,gene products are shared through spermatid cytoplasmic bridges which erase phenotypic differences between individual haploid sperm.Here,we show that a large class of mammalian genes are not completely shared across these bridges.We term these genes"genoinformative markers"(GIMs)and show that a subset can act as selfish genetic elements that spread alleles unevenly through murine,bovine,and human populations.We identify evolutionary pressure to avoid conflict between sperm and somatic function as GIMs are enriched for testis-specific gene expression,paralogs,and isoforms.

Awards:National Science and Technology Progress Award(first grade),1985 Research institutions:Institute of Materia Medica of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and the 187th Hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army Cephalotaxus hainanensis,commonly known as Hainan plum-yew,is a species of the family of Cephalotaxaceae and distributes mainly in southern China.Fujian folk medicine already had a record of treating tumors with the bark of Cephalotaxus fortunei,and the 187th Hospital of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army(PLA)had used the crude preparations of Cephalotaxus hainanensis in cancer patients.In 1972,Powell et al.reported the isolation of four ester alkaloids including harringtonine,homoharringtonine,iso-harringtoine,and deoxyharringtoine from Cephalotaxus harringtonia,although they did not continue the studies.In 1973,the Institute of Materia Medica(IMM)of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and the 187th Hospital of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army began to investigate the antitumor activities of Cephalotaxus hainanensis and its active pharmaceutical ingredients(APIs)in terms of plant resources,chemical composition,synthesis and analysis of APIs,and pharmacology.A total of 19 monomers have been identified,among which eight compounds were for the first time obtained from the plant.Pharmacological tests showed that all the four ester alkaloids had remarkable anti-tumor activities,especially harringtonine and homoharringtonine.

A wireless sensor network (WSN) is composed of many nodes with limited power supply;most nodes are stationary in the network which could probably involve a few mobile nodes. Various medium access control (MAC) protocols specially aimed at a target locating application for WSNs have been proposed. However, most of these protocols based on the problem of energy-limited does not consider the mobility of nodes. Therefore, in order to solve such problem, this paper proposes a MAC protocol—distribute Moving-MAC (DM-MAC). Under the condition of keeping high network coverage, the protocol utilizes the redundancy of nodes to strengthen the robustness and energy efficiency of network, and decreases the packet loss rate of the mobile node’s communication links for realizing reliable communication of two nodes. Simulation indicates that the new protocol has higher energy efficiency, lower packet loss rate and higher network coverage which suit for wireless sensor network with mobile nodes well.

THE swan goose is a large waterfowl of the Anatidae bird family.This bird lives mainly in and around lakes,ponds,rivers,and swamps.It has been circulated in China that the swan goose can carry letters for humans,hence the laudatory title of postman has been given to this bird.Tang Zhenya is a national model worker,a national moral model,and a delegate to the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.For more than 20 years,he has traveled more than 20 kilometers across the Hongze Lake every day on a small row boat to distribute more than a million letters and newspapers.Tang provides services for an area of more than 300 square kilometers.Due to the nature and responsibilities of his work,local fishermen call him the“Swan Goose of the Hongze Lake.”

The kinetics of the polymerization reactions in butadiene rubber production is complicated and is affected by many factors. The ML value should be controlled within the range of 45±2 for high quality products.
