The dissemination of relevant information on wildlife utilization and its connection with the illegal trade in wildlife

We analyzed the generation and dissemination of relevant information on wildlife utilization based on the African bush elephant(Loxodonta africana Blumenbach.),the tiger(Panthera tigris L.)and the totoaba,a species of marine fish,(Totoaba macdonaldi Gilbert)as examples,whose populations are more threatened by the illegal wildlife trade.We compared the illegal trade in wildlife with related information in order to find possible associations,searched for relevant information on major international websites to summarize similarities in information production and dissemination,and used a"Zhiwei"dissemination analysis platform to analyze the dissemination of information circulated at Microblog.The results show that the most infuential information related to the trade in wildlife is mainly generated from news media websites and new selfmedia platforms,usually from non-governmental organizations concerned with wildlife protection.The main factors that affect the depth and breadth of disseminating relevant information on wildlife utilization include the participation of relatively infuential opinion leaders,the verification ratio of forwarding users,the number of followers,and affective identification.Misleading information can stimulate and promote poaching and smuggling,regardless of their real market demand or their products.Therefore,all links in the course of information dissemination should be carefully examined in order to purify the information environment and reduce adverse effects of misleading information on wildlife protection.

Floristic Diversity, Stand Structure and Plant Life Traits in the Forest-Savanna Mosaic at Ndjole (Centre Cameroon)

With the aim of assessing floristic diversity, stand structure and vegetation ecology, the present work was carried out in the savanna mosaic forest of the locality of Ndjole (Centre Cameroon). A total of 30 floristic plots of 40 m × 40 m (1600 m2) were delineated in the different ecosystems (forest, forest-savanna contact zone and the savanna). Within each plot, all individuals with a diameter at breast height ≥ 10 cm at 1.30 m were taken into account. ANOVA was used to compare the means of the diversity indices of the different ecosystems, and the DUNCAN test at 5% significance level (XLSTAT 2016) to separate these means. A total of 85 species belonging to 67 genera and 33 families were recorded. That is, 68 species in semi-caducifolia forest, 45 in forest-savanna contact zone and 18 in savanna. Urticaceae, Combretaceae, Apocynaceae, Myristicaceae and Euphorbiaceae are the most diverse families in the forest. On the other hand, in contact zones, the Euphorbiaceae, Fabaceae, Annonaceae and Moraceae families are the most diversified, while in the savannas, the Combretaceae, Fabaceae and Annonaceae families are the most diversified. Shannon’s diversity index values (1.7 to 2.37 bits) reflect low specific diversity;Piélou’s equitability (0.86 to 0.9) shows good distribution of individuals within species. The diametric structure of woody species shows an inverted “J” shape in all plant communities. This indicates a high regeneration potential characterized by a greater number of small trees than large trees. Mesophanerophytes and megaphanerophytes are dominant in forests and forest-savanna contact zones, and microphanerophytes in the savannas. Endozoochory is the main mode of diaspore dissemination. As regards the distribution of phytogeographical types, it shows the overall dominance of Guineo-Congolese species in all plant communities. An Efficient Message dissemination Scheme for Minimizing DeliveryDelay in Delay Tolerant Networks

Delay tolerant networks （DTNs） are a kind of sparse and highly mobile wireless networks, where no stableconnectivity guarantee can be assumed. Most DTN users have several points of interest （PoIs）, and they enjoy disseminatingmessages to the other users of the same PoI through WiFi. In DTNs, some time-sensitive messages （disaster warnings, searchnotices, etc.） need to be rapidly propagated among specific users or areas. Therefore, finding a path from the source tothe destination with the shortest delay is the key problem. Taking the dissemination cost into consideration, we proposean efficient message dissemination strategy for minimizing delivery delay （MDMD） in DTNs, which first defines the user＇sactiveness according to the transiting habit among different PoIs. Furthermore, depending on the activeness, an optimaluser in each PoI is selected to constitute the path with the shortest delay. Finally, the MDMD with inactive state （on theway between PoIs） is further proposed to enhance the applicability. Simulation results show that, compared with otherdissemination strategies, MDMD achieves the lowest average delay, and the comparable average hopcounts, on the premisethat the delivery ratio is guaranteed to be 100% by the sufficient simulation time.

Laparoscopic uncontained power morcellation-induced dissemination of ovarian endodermal sinus tumors:A case report

BACKGROUND Endodermal sinus tumors(ESTs),which arise primarily in children and adolescents,account for 20%of malignant ovarian germ cell tumors,but constitute only 1%of all ovarian malignancies.Treatment of ESTs consists of surgical staging with fertility-sparing surgery and chemotherapy.CASE SUMMARY A 15-year-old nulliparous patient was diagnosed with disseminated ovarian ESTs after laparoscopic unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy using uncontained power morcellation for treatment of a ruptured solid adnexal mass in another hospital.Exploratory laparotomy;total abdominal hysterectomy,right salpingooophorectomy,and lymphadenectomy were performed with optimal debulking,and surgical stage 3C was assigned to the patient.CONCLUSION In 2014,the Food and Drug Administration noted that power morcellation was probably associated with a risk of disseminating suspected cancerous tissue.Furthermore,the use of power morcellation to remove solid adnexal mass is considered a contraindication because of the potential for a malignant tumor.This case report aims to warn of the dangers of using uncontained power morcellation to treat solid adnexal masses.

The bacterial and host factors associated with extrapulmonary dissemination of Mycobacterium tuberculosis

With high morbidity and mortality worldwide, tuberculosis （TB） is still an important public health threat. The majority of human TB cases are caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Although pulmonary TB is the most common presentation, M. tuberculosis can disseminate into other organs and causes extrapulmonary TB （EPTB）. The dissemination of bacteria from the initial site of infection to other organs can lead to fatal diseases, such as miliary and meningeal TB. Thoroughly understanding the mechanisms and pathways of dissemination would develop therapies to prevent the lethal prognosis of EPTB （miliary and meningeal TB） and vaccines to promote the development of adaptive immunity. This review focuses on risk factors of EPTB, bacterial and host genes involved in EPTB, and potential mechanisms of M. tuberculosis extrapulmonary dissemination.

Oral Literature:The Translation and dissemination of Mulian Baojuan in the English World

Mulian baojuan,originating from the Sūtra of Ullambana,tells the story of Mulian rescuing his mother from hell.Rostislav Berezkin,David Johnson,and Wilt L.Idema have studied and introduced it.This paper mainly discusses the translation and dissemination of baojuan to sort out and verify its spread in the English world.The translation and dissemination of baojuan have shifted towards its performances,illustrations,and social functions.The study of baojuan has presented a new development trend by breaking the restrictions of the genre of text and through dynamic interactions with novels,dramas,and other forms of literature.

The dissemination of Intangible Cultural Heritage Along Beijing-Hangzhou Canal Based on Encoding/Decoding Theory

The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal carries a wealth of Chinese cultural symbols,showing the lifestyle and wisdom of working people through ages.The preservation and inheritance of its intangible cultural heritage can help to evoke cultural memories and cultural identification of the Canal and build cultural confidence.This paper applies Stuart Hall’s encoding/decoding theory to analyze the dissemination of intangible heritage tourism culture.On the basis of a practical study of the villages along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal,this paper analyses the problems in the transmission of its intangible cultural heritage and proposes specific methods to solve them in four processes,encoding,decoding,communication,and secondary encoding,in order to propose references for the transmission of intangible heritage culture at home and abroad.

The dissemination and Influence of the Three-Region Theory in Seventeenth- and Eighteenth-Century China

The three-region theory,which divided the air into warm,cold,and hot strata from bottom to top,was the paramount theory for explaining meteorological phenomena in medieval Europe.Such missionaries as Matteo Ricci,Francisco Furtado and Alfonso Vagnone introduced it into China during the seventeenth century,where it had a significant influence on Chinese meteorological knowledge.Chinese scholars endeavored to understand and assimilate this theory based on the traditional yuanqi元氣(original substance or primal vitality)theory or yinyang陰陽(negative and positive principles)theory,so as to either broaden the range of the three regions,or to indicate that there were no definite boundaries to them.In this context,Jie Xuan揭暄drew a meteorological illustration entitled Rihuo xiajiang yangqi shangsheng tu日火下降暘氣上升圖(Illustration of the descent of the sun’s warmth and the ascent of warmed air),which epitomized how Sino-Western scientific encounters inspired new ideas.

dissemination and Genetic Structure of Carbapenemase Encoding Genes (blaOXA-23and blaOXA-24) in Acinetobacter baumanniifrom Southern Texas

Acinetobacter baumannii is one of the most important human pathogens causing a variety of nosocomial infections. Carbapenem antibiotics have been primarily used to treat the A. baumannii infections. However, carbapenem resistant A. baumannii producing carbapenemases causes serious treatment problems worldwide. Outbreaks of carbapenem resistant isolates have reported in some area of the United States, but their dissemination and genetic structure of the carbapenemase encoding genes are currently little known. To understand outbreaks, dissemination, and genetic structure of the carbapenemase encoding genes in Southern Texas, 32 clinical isolates collected from Austin and Houston, TX were characterized. Twenty-eight of 32 isolates were resistant to all tested β-lactam antibiotics including carbapenem (imipenem and meropenem). Three of them carried blaOXA-23 as a part of Tn2008 integrated into a known plasmid (pACICU2) and all others carried blaOXA-24 flanked by XerC/XerD-like recombinase binding sites that were adjoined by DNA sequences originated from multiple plasmids. Genotype analysis revealed that the 25 isolates carrying blaOXA-24 were all identical genotypes same as a representative isolate carrying blaOXA-24 from Chicago, IL but the 3 isolates carrying blaOXA-23 was a distinct genotype as compared with isolates carrying blaOXA-23 from Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C. Each of the blaOXA-23 and blaOXA-24 was transferred to carbapenem susceptible A. baumannii and E. coli with similar minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of carbapenem as that of their parental isolates but significantly lower levels of MIC in E. coli. Overall results suggest that a unique strain carrying blaOXA-23 and a similar strain carrying blaOXA-24 as seen in other geographic areas are currently disseminated in Southern Texas.

dissemination and Problems of African Biogas Technology

The present status of biogas technology in Africa was briefly reviewed focusing on biogas market potential, stake-holders, investments and bottlenecks. Africa is endowed with important biomass reserve considered as a potential for anaerobic digestion. However, the over reliance on wood and fossil fuels remains significantly overwhelming. This is due to the number of challenges in the field which led to underestimate at some extent the benefits of biogas technology. Unreliable and inefficient use of biomass fuel, which contributes to the greenhouse gas emissions still, has kept its preference in primary energy balance. Despite the huge potentialities and biomass resources for anaerobic digestion in Africa, the dissemination rate of biogas in Africa is struggling to meet biogas market demand. Nevertheless, there are a number of problems to address especially narrowing down the gap between biogas market demand and supply. This paper consists of an introduction and the status of the energy sector in Africa, and then discusses current dissemination of biogas development, finance and stakeholder contributions, challenges and a conclusion.
