Crystal structure and crystallinity of carbon nitride support, size and dispersity of active-metal nanoparticles(NPs), and surface engineering of composites have great roles in generation and separation of photogenerated charge carries and photocatalyzed organic reactions for the conversion of solar energy into chemical energy. Herein, we deposited well-dispersed Pd NPs with small size on crystallized carbon nitride(CN–C) to construct a Schottky-type Pd/CN–C hybrid for photocatalyzed Ullmann C–C homocoupling of aryl halides under visible light irradiation at room temperature. Compared to Pd NPs supported g-C_3N_4(Pd/g-C_3N_4), Pd/CN–C exhibits excellent visible light photocatalytic activity for Ullmann C–C coupling of aryl halides due to high crystallinity of CN–C support, high dispersion and smaller size of Pd NPs, and the interfacial heterojunction of Pd/CN–C. Upon visible light irradiation, more photogenerated electrons from CN–C flow across the Schottky junction to metallic Pd and trigger the Ullmann C–C coupling of aryl halides. The photogenerated holes on CN–C surface are captured by a protic solvent(such as EtOH). In the presence of base K_2CO_3, the solvent undergoes dissociation, dehydrogenation, and finally can be oxidized by captured photogenerated holes. Moreover, Pd/CN–C has general applicability for various substrates and shows excellent stability and reusability for more than nine cycles.

Using acetonitrile or DMF as cosolvent, both perfluoroalkyl iodides such as Cl(CF_2)_nI (n=4,6,8, 1a-1c), CF_3(CF_2)n I(n=5,6,7, 1d-1f), I(CF_2)_n O (CF_2)SO_3 Na (n=2,4,6, 1g-1i)and perfl- uoroalkyl bromides such as Cl(CF_2) n Br (n=4,6, 3a-3b) and C_7F_(15) Br (3e) reacted with Rongalite in aqueous solution to give the corresponding sulfinates Cl(CF_2)n SO_2 Na (n=4,6,8, 2a-2c), CF_3- (CF_2)n SO_2Na (n=5,6,7, 2d-2f) and NaO_2S(CF_2)n O(CF_2)_2 SO_3Na (n=2,4,6, 2g-2i) in moderate yields. 1H-perfluoroalkanes were formed as the main products when other solvents such as ethanol. iso-propanol, 1,4-dioxane and morpholine were used.

Holmium nitrate n-hydrates were prepared by the procedure referred to in Ref.[1]. The faint yellow n-hydrates （n=6, 5, 3） crystallized were dried in a desiccator over sulfuric acid of 48, 60 and 98% in concentration respectively. Infrared and Roman Spectra of two kinds of glass systems of Li2 O-P2 O5 and LiCl-Li2O-P2O5 were studied and the influence of LiCl on the glass structure was discussed. The results show that in the system of Li2O-P2O5, Licl can not only play a dresser part, but also exist in network gaps in a free state. When x（x=Li2O/P2O5 mole fraction） is smaller and the content of LiCl is lower, LiCl causes the structare of phosphatic glass to break as Li2O and （PO2Cl） groaps. With the increase of x and the content of LiCl, the number of LiCl existing in dissociation state increases, too. When x is larger than some value （about 1.4）, LiCl exists in a dissociation state entirely.

Dissociating Improvement of Attention and Intelligence during Written Language Acquisition in Adults

About one tenth of the world’s population cannot read and write sufficiently. Cognitive abilities, such as selective attention and crystallized as well as fluid intelligence, have been defined as crucial factors for the acquisition of written language skills. However, it is unclear whether these abilities are necessary also for the alphabetization of adults. Before and after a one-year alphabetization course, we compared the attention and intelligence of 47 illiterate individuals to 41 matched literate controls who did not take part in the alphabetization course. Illiterate individuals improved in selective attention and crystallized intelligence from before to after the alphabetization course;however, they did not reach the same level of functioning as literate controls. In addition, the fluid intelligence of illiterates did not improve. More importantly, when controlling for attention improvement, we found that improvement in crystallized intelligence was associated with alphabetization above and beyond the influence of attention. Our results suggest that alphabetization is closely related to improvements in attention and crystallized intelligence. Specifically, socio-cultural, knowledge- specific learning processes improve during the acquisition of written language skills and may not depend on only the enhancement of the ability to attend to relevant stimuli. Alphabetization programs may, therefore, benefit from distinct considerations of attentional, intellectual, and literacy related skill acquisitions.

Six rare earth nitrate complexes of 2, 6-diacetylpyridinebis (semicarbazone) (DAPSC) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and electrical conductance. Molecular and crystal structures of complex [Sm(DAPSC)(NO3)2(EtOH)]NO3 were determined by X-ray diffraction method. C13H21N10O12 Sm crystallized in the monoclinic apace group C2/c with the following unit-cell constants, a=16.674(2)A, b = 10. 715(2)A, c = 25.242(4)A . β = 100.077(11)°; z=8, the final R factor is 0.025. The coordination number of Sm3+ is ten.

The title compound was prepared by dissolving 1.3g MoCl3·3H2O into 20 ml anhydrous formic acid. The solution was then heated and refluxed for half an hour. After cooling a bit, 20ml anhydrous ethanol saturated with HCl and 0.5g （Et4N）I were added to the solution. The brown twin crystals were crystallized in three days. The formula of the product was confirmed by elemental chemical analysis. Found: Mo, 36.09; Cl, 26.84; C, 15.19; H, 3.54; N, 1.76. Calcd: Mo, 36.82; Cl, 27.21; C, 16.90; H, 2.97; N, 1.79.
