A total of 160 barramundi's (Lates calcarifer Bloch, 1790) sampled from four rivers (Tentulia, Balaswar, Bakkhali, and Andarmanik) along the southern coastal region of Bangladesh were investigated in terms of morphometric characters to reveal the intraspecific variation. Twenty-five morphometric measurements were extracted using the conventional method and subjected to multivariate analyses (i.e., principal component analysis (PCA), discriminate function analysis (DFA), cluster analysis (CA)) to distinguish individuals from different rivers. The result demonstrated that twenty-two out of 25 measurements was statistically significant (Univariate ANOVA) among all four populations. PCA analysis of morphometric characters resulted in two principal components, PC I and PCⅡ which accounted for 79.25% and 4.28% of the total data variance. PC I-PC Ⅱ plot explained 83.53% of total variance differentiated the population of L. calcarifer into two groups. Discriminate analysis correctly classified about 88.1% of the examined fish into the four areas. The UPGMA dendrogram showed that Bakkhali populations were the most morphologically different populations in comparison to other populations, while Andarmanik and Balaswar populations were very close to each other. The strong morphometric variation between Bakkhali and Tentulia, Andarmanik and Balaswar was observed in the present study, suggested the evidence of the separate stock population of barramundi in these locations, which might require distinct stock management strategies for resource sustainability in the waters of southern Bangladesh. However, if these findings are supported by further molecular markers and geometric morphometry, this would be a strong indication of different stocks of this population in the four rivers of southern Bangladesh.

Phylogenetically, the new species is sister to K. idiootocus, but is distinguishable from all known congeners by a combination of the following characters: small body size(snout-vent length 28.2-32.2 mm in males;38.6 mm in female);snout rounded.

Based on the feature-point method of recognizing printed Chinses characters, anautomatic printed Chinese character recognition system on microcomputers is proposed. It isan entire system including layout decision, text recognition and post-editing *** on 2 million Chinese characters indicate that this system is able to recognizeprinted Chinese characters on books, magazines and documents at a speed of 20 charachersper second on 20 MHz COMPAQ 386 and with a correct recognition rate above 95%.

Recognizing signs and fonts of prehistoric language is a fairly difﬁcult job that requires special *** stipulation make the dispensation period over-riding,difﬁcult and tiresome to *** paper present a technique for recognizing ancient south Indian languages by applying Artiﬁcial Neural Network(ANN)associated with Opposition based Grey Wolf Optimization Algorithm(OGWA).It identiﬁes the prehistoric language,signs and *** is an apparent from the ANN system that arbitrarily produced weights or neurons linking various layers play a signiﬁcant role in its *** adaptively determining these weights,this paper applies various optimization algorithms such as Opposition based Grey Wolf Optimization,Particle Swarm Optimization and Grey Wolf Opti-mization to the ANN *** results are illustrated that the proposed ANN-OGWO technique achieves superior accuracy over the other *** test case 1,the accuracy value of OGWO is 94.89%and in test case 2,the accu-racy value of OGWO is 92.34%,on average,the accuracy of OGWO achieves 5.8%greater accuracy than ANN-GWO,10.1%greater accuracy than ANN-PSO and 22.1%greater accuracy over conventional ANN technique.

The morphology and infraciliature of a marine ciliate Anphi/eptus litonotiformis nov. sp. inhabiting a shrimp farming pond in Sheyang (Jiangsu Province) are described. According to the infraciliature, habitat . and other morphological characters, it can not be congeneric with any other species of the genus . The special features of A. litonotiformis are the Litonotus-like body shape and the arrangement of its extrusomes regularly located along the margin of the cytostome. The most important characters of some related Amphileptus-species from marine water are biometrically tabled and discussed.

Male and female adult midges of Pseudosmittia aizaiensis sp. n. are described and illustrated with figures of morphological characters. The inferior volsella of gonocoxite with large lobes, the long but equal width gonostylus. and the small projection in basal part of outer margin are the characters that may separate this species from others. One larva of this genus is purely aquatic in habitat and is associated with Cricotopus bicinctus, Cardiociadius capucinns and Polypedilum sp. in the same algae debris (Spirogyra sp.) of the Dunghe River. Further, the larva’s very short SI and SII bifids. its 5 pairs of lateral teeth on mentum and its absence of premandible brush are the characters that may also separate this species from any known species of this genus.
