In this paper, the methods developed by?[1] are used to analyze flowback data, which involves modeling flow both before and after the breakthrough of formation fluids. Despite the versatility of these techniques, achieving an optimal combination of parameters is often difficult with a single deterministic analysis. Because of the uncertainty in key model parameters, this problem is an ideal candidate for uncertainty quantification and advanced assisted history-matching techniques, including Monte Carlo (MC) simulation and genetic algorithms (GAs) amongst others. MC simulation, for example, can be used for both the purpose of assisted history-matching and uncertainty quantification of key fracture parameters. In this work, several techniques are tested including both single-objective (SO) and multi-objective (MO) algorithms for history-matching and uncertainty quantification, using a light tight oil (LTO) field case. The results of this analysis suggest that many different algorithms can be used to achieve similar optimization results, making these viable methods for developing an optimal set of key uncertain fracture parameters. An indication of uncertainty can also be achieved, which assists in understanding the range of parameters which can be used to successfully match the flowback data.

A Study on Biocompatibility of TiN Thin Film Deposited on 317L Stainless Steel by Ion Beam assisted Deposition

Titanium nitride ceramic thin films on 317L stainless steel(SS317L) substrate were deposited by Ion Beam assisted Deposition (IBAD). The composition of the TiN films were investigated by Auger electron spectroscopy(AES), while the preferential orientation of the deposited film and phase composition were determined by X-ray diffraction(XRD). Adhesion was measured through Micro Scratch Tester(MST), and the corrosion resistance was evaluated by the electrochemical corrosion experiments in Hamk’s simulated human plasma. Specially, the biocompatibility of SS317L and TiN thin films were studied with fibroblast and marrow cell cultures in vitro. The results show that TiN thin films deposited on SS317L by means of IBAD can make remarkable changes on the structure and properties of the surface. At 37℃ Hank’s simulated plasma, free corrosion potential (E corr ) and breakthrough potential of pitting corrosion (E b) were both improved by coating TiN films . The culture results show that ion beam assisted TiN coatings exhibit a higher degree of cytocompatibility than that of SS317L and the cells grow better on those proper rough surfaces.

Nowadays, the success of the new technology development and deployment process depends not only on technical, technological solutions, but also on solving the non-technological problems and crossing the societal and psychological barriers. A large international European projects, GABRIEL1 had developed a maglev assisted aircraft take-off and landing, that was applied to conceptual design of aircraft and required on-board and ground systems, had analysed all impacts (effects of concept deployment on effectiveness, safety, security, noise, emissions) and had demonstrated the safe applicability by concept validation. The applied methodology, used methods and the results of the Gabriel projects had been described and discussed by 55 project deliverables. This paper has a special goal: investigating the problems and barriers of possible implementing of the radically new technology, aircraft MagLev assisted take-off and landing. The study was started by identification and classification of the problems and barriers. After it, the problems were systematically analysed by use of special methodology containing the understanding (description) of the problems, investigation of the possible solutions and discussing their applicability (mainly by use of the Gabriel project results). The paper has three major sections: 1) description of the Gabriel concept and project results, 2) introducing some related thoughts on general aspects of new technology developments, and 3) discussion on the problems and their solutions. The major classes of the problems are the 1) technical, technological problems as developing a radically new solution, landing the undercarriage-less aircraft on the magnetic tracks, 2) stakeholders’ problems as decision makers kicking against supporting the developments of so radically new technologies and 3) society barriers like society worrying on and fear of future passengers on flying by aircraft have not conventional undercarriage systems. Lignocellulosic materials are promising alternative feedstocks for bioethanol production. However, the recalcitrant nature of lignocellulosic biomass necessitates an efficient pretreatment pretreatment step to improve the yield of fermentable sugars and maximizing the enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency. Microwave pretreatment may be a good alternative as it can reduce the pretreatment time and improve the enzymatic activity during hydrolysis. The overall goal of this paper is to expand the current state of knowledge on microwave-based pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass and microwave assisted enzymatic reaction or Microwave Irradiation-Enzyme Coupling Catalysis (MIECC). In the present study, a comparison of microwave assisted alkali pretreatment was tried using Oil Palm empty fruit bunch. The microwave assisted alkali pretreatment of EFB using NaOH, significantly improved the enzymatic saccharification of EFB by removing more lignin and hemicellulose and increasing its accessibility to hydrolytic enzymes. The results showed that the optimum pretreatment condition was 3% (w/v) NaOH at 180 W for 12 minutes with the optimum component loss of lignin and holocellulose of about 74% and 24.5% respectively. The subsequent enzymatic saccharification of EFB pretreated by microwave assisted NaOH (3% w/v);resulted in 411 mg of reducing sugar per gram EFB at cellulose enzyme dosage of 20 FPU. The overall enhancement by the microwave treatment during the microwave assisted alkali pretreatment and microwave assisted enzymatic hydrolysis was 5.8 fold. The present study has highlighted the importance of well controlled microwave assisted enzymatic reaction to enhance the overall reaction rate of the process.

Objectives:To investigate the effect of Chinese herbal medicine"heche assisted preg-nancy recipe (HCAPR)" on estrogen receptor(ER), progesterone receptor (PR), pro-lifierating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)in endometrium of infertile women.Methods: The S-P immunohistochemical assay was used to observe expression ofER, PR , PCNA and VEGF in late proliferative phase before and after the HCAPR treat-ment.Results: After the treatment, the expression of ER,PR,PCNA and VEGF in nucleiof glandular epithelium and stromal cells was significantly stronger (all P＜0. 001) re-spectively than that before treatment , especially the expression of PCNA and VEGF.Conclusions: These results suggest that traditional Chinese medicine HCAPR oftonifying kidney and regulating menstruation increased the synthesis of ER,PR, PCNAand VEGF, which may promote normal growth and development of the endometrium ,improve the micro-environment of the endometrium, and enhance uterine receptivity.The evidence may provide theoretical basis for therapy infertility with Chinese herbalmedicine.

A New Computer assisted Orthopaedic Surgery System:WATO

Background:The traditional manual orthopaedic technology heavily relies on a surgeon's experience,so it certainly increases the instability of the surgery.Therefore,computer assisted orthopaedic surgery(CAOS) is becoming a hot research topic for its high accuracy and stability.We developed a new CAOS system WATO,which is mainly designed for total knee replacement(TKR).Methods:WATO system provides the interactive software for a surgeon's preoperative planning.Based on its two infrared cameras,infrared markers and infrared probe,WATO system gives a simple surgical positioning procedure of femur and tibia without additional surgery for the placement of fiducial markers.According to the reference alignment axis from positioning procedure,a surgeon can move the robot of WATO system to do accurate bone resection.Safety checking is also considered in WATO system.Results:Extensive experiments were conducted on phantoms and cadaver bones to verify the accuracy and stability of WATO system.Experimental results showed that TKR using WATO system had better performance compared with traditional and navigated TKR.Conclusion:WATO system shows its superiority in TKR,and has a broad application prospect in the future.We will develop its new functions for other orthopaedic surgery such as total hip replacement(THR).Current disadvantages such as bigger skin incision have to be resolved in the future.

This paper studies the operating characteristics of solar-assisted heating system in Changchunarea, the changes of the indoor temperature with the conditions of solar-assisted heating system .By analyzing these operating data we can see solar-assisted heating to meet the requirements of the indoor temperature and save energy.

There are many reasons that motivate people to build online communities. The purpose of this study was to identify the topics that learners discuss when they are part of a computer assisted language learning course in order to answer the question “What are they talking about?”. We have examined an e-community of 618 students who were learning the Modern Greek language online. We analyzed their conversation topics directly from the discussion boards of the web-based course and sorted them into the pre-defined topic categories. The results of the study showed that during the first lessons of the course the students contributed more to social discussions which were unrelated to the course material. The reason of this outcome is that the students want to introduce themselves and meet their peers. As they progressed through the course’s lessons, however, their discussion topics became more course material related. The study ends with implications of the results and future research directions.

Ultrasonically assisted Regioselective Nitration of Aromatic Compounds in Presence of Certain Group V and VI Metal Salts

Ultrasonically assisted nitration reactions (USANR) with anilides, moderately activated and non-activated aromatic compounds underwent smoothly and afforded good yields of products with high regio selectivity. Observed longer reaction times (6 - 8 hrs.) in metal catalyzed reactions reduced to (1 - 2 hrs.) under sonication. When ortho position is blocked para derivatives are obtained, and ortho nitro products are obtained when para position is blocked. In case of USANR of aromatic carbonyl and related compounds the effect of sonication is much more effective. The reactions could be completed only in few minutes.
