Litsea lancilimba Merr.is a Cinnamomum plant of Lauraceae.Phytochemical investigations of the Litsea lancilimba Merr.have resulted in the isolation of volatile oil,flavonoid glycosides,tannins,alkaloids,lignans,organic acids and so on.Studies have showed that volatile oil is the main chemical component.Recent trials have demonstrated the efficacy of Litsea lancilimba Merr.in strengthening the function of stomach.The fruits have also been demonstrated to possess anti-inflammatory and bacteriostatic activities.This review deals mainly with the chemical structure and biological activities of Litsea lancilimba Merr.oil.

Components of volatile oil from Water-caltrop and Their Anti-tumor Effect in vitro

The volatile oil was extracted from water caltrop by steam distillation; it was then analyzed by GC-MS to obtain 16 components, 8 of which were identified. Apocynin was the most abundant one, accounting for 81.41% of the total oil. The in vitro inhibitory effects of the volatile oil on SMMC-7721, MCF-7, Hela, HL-60 cells, and human peripheral blood mononuclear cells（PBMC） were investigated via the MTT method. The morphological changes of the tumor cells were observed and the apoptosis of HL-60 cells was detected by flow cytometry. The proliferation of the tumor cells could be significantly inhibited and the apoptosis of HL-60 cells could be induced by the volatile oil. The proliferation inhibition effect of the volatile oil on HL-60 tumor cells and the induction of the apoptosis of ilL-60 cells had dose-dependent feature.

Objective:The objective of this study is to study the best inclusion technology of Lavender-and fennel-mixed volatile oil by beta?cyclodextrin(β-CD) and characterize the final product thereafter.Methods:Using the saturated water solution method,the volatile β-CD inclusion complex was produced.The effect of volatile oil weight ratio,inclusion temperature and inclusion time on the inclusive quality was studied by measuring the yield of inclusion and inclusion rate of volatile oil as evaluation indexes.The preparation method of inclusion complex was then optimized by the Box-Behnken response surface method.The inclusion complex was characterized by ultraviolet spectrophotometry,thin-layer chromatography,thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis,and the microscopic imaging method.Results:The optimized conditions were the weight ratio of β-CD to volatile oil was 8.13:1(g/ml).The inclusion temperature was 44°C.The inclusion time was 1 h.Conclusion:We were able to produce an inclusion complex with high inclusion rate of volatile oil and high yield of inclusion using the preparation method mentioned above.Furthermore,the method can also improve the stability of volatile oil in abnormal savda munziq.This study can provide a good reference for the development of new preparations.

Objective To analyze the volatile oil from the branches of Picrasma quassioides. Methods volatile oil was extracted from the branches of P. quassioides by steam distillation. GC-MS method was used to analyze the components. Results A total of 49 compounds were isolated, and 46 compounds were successfully identified, which represented over 98% of the total oil composition. The major components of the volatile oil in the branches of P. quassioides included caryophyllene (12.83%), 12-oxabicyclo[9.1.0]dodeca-3,7-diene,1,5,5,8-tetramethyl-[1R-(1R*,3E,7E,11-R*)] (12.29%), 1-hexanol (9.96%), naphthalene, 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydro-1,8a-dimethyl-7-(1-methyletheyl)-[1S-(1a,7a,8aa)] (7.32%), aromadendrene oxide-(2) (6.69%), and α-caryophyllene (3.88%). Conclusion The major components in volatile oil are terpenoids, hydroxy compounds, and other acyclic alkane compounds.

[Objectives] volatile oil components of traditional drug use site " root and rhizome" of N. jatamansi and herb were identified and contrasted,which aimed to provide the basis for rationally using wild N. jatamansi resource. [Methods]volatile oil components from different sites of N. jatamansi were identified and isolated by GC-MS. [Results] There were 56 kinds of volatile oil components from different sites of N. jatamansi,in which 39 components from herb of N. jatamansi,39 components from root and rhizome of N. jatamansi,and there were 22 common components. But 1 component in higher concentration had obvious difference. [Conclusions] The herb of N. jatamansi could not completely replace " root and rhizome" of N. jatamansi as the medicine,which was consistent with prior detection result of each physicochemical index from different sites of N. jatamansi. The research could provide the reference for making quality standard of N. jatamansi medicine and rational basis for its further research and development.

[Objectives]To study the volatile components and antibacterial effects of 11 kinds of Aurantii Fructus Immaturus processed products.[Methods]11 kinds of Aurantii Fructus Immaturus processed products were obtained according to the traditional processing method,the volatile oil was extracted by steam distillation,and the composition of volatile oil in the 11 kinds of processed products was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS).the relative percentage content of each component in these 11 kinds of processed products was determined using the peak area normalization.The drug sensitivity activity of the volatile oil of these 11 kinds of processed products was tested using the K-B paper diffusion method and the minimum inhibition volume fraction of volatile oil of these 11 kinds of processed products was tested using the microdilution method.[Results]The highest yield of volatile oil of 11 kinds of these processed products was baking(5.193%),and the lowest was stir-bake to scorch(1.998%).A total of 36 chemical components were identified from the volatile oils of these 11 kinds of processed products.The components with the most volatile oil were stir-bake to scorch(24 kinds),and the components with the least volatile oil were the method of processing with rice-washed water(15 kinds).They contain 8 kinds of common chemical components,such as limonene,linalool,myrcene,α-pinene.The highest content of limonene came from processing with honey(60.93%),the lowest came from processing with rice-washed water(55.25%);the highest content of linalool came from processing with rice-washed water(7.139%),the lowest came from processing with honey(5.436%);the highest content of myrcene came from processing with honey(1.899%),the lowest came from stir-bake to scorch(1.632%);the highest content ofα-pinene came from raw Aurantii Fructus Immaturus(2.355%),and the lowest came from stir-bake to scorch(1.618%).The volatile oil of these 11 kinds of Aurantii Fructus Immaturus processed products has good antibacterial effect on

Extraction Optimization and Composition Analysis of volatile oil from Fruit of Alpinia zerumbet

[Objectives] The aim was to determine the optimum process for the extraction of volatile oil from Alpinia zerumbet fruit.[Methods]Steam distillation was used to extract volatile oil from A. zerumbet fruit. Based on the single factor tests,an orthogonal test was designed to explore the effects of solid-liquid ratio,soaking time,extraction time and grinding degree of material on the extraction rate. The composition of volatile oil from A. zerumbet fruit was analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry( GC-MS),and the relative mass fraction of each component was determined by peak area normalization. [Results] With volatile oil yield as the index,the optimum extraction process was determined: solid to liquid ratio of 1∶ 10,soaking time of 0. 5 h,grinding degree of passing through 24-mesh sieve and extraction time of 5 h. A total of 29 compounds were isolated. Among them,the contents of α-terpinene( 24. 894%),1,8-terpadiene( 15. 527%) andα-pinene( 6. 982%) were relatively high. [Conclusions]The optimized extraction process for volatile oil from A. zerumbet fruit is stable and reasonable. Under the optimum extraction process,the extraction effect of volatile oil from A. zerumbet fruit was the best. The chemical components of volatile oil from A. zerumbet fruit were determined by GC-MS as α-terpinene( 24. 894%),1,8-terpadiene( 15. 527%) and α-pinene( 6. 982%).

Objective:The volatile oil of nutmeg was used to study the acute toxicity,central nervous system depressant activity and the action on acute myocardial infarction.Methods:volatile oil was administrated orally.LD50 in mice of was investigated and calculated.Its potentiation effect on hypnosis induced by subthreshold pentobarbital sodium in mice was observed;its influence on latency and percentage of convulsion,death latency and percentage of survival induced by strychnine was also observed;moreover,its anti-acute myocardial infarction effect in rats was tested.Results:LD50 in mice was 7.67g /kg.At the dose of 1.07g /kg(p.o),the volatile oil produced potentiation effect on hypnosis induced by subthreshold dose of pentobarbital sodium in mice,prolonged death latency and increased the survival rate for strychnine-induced convulsion in mice.There were no remarkable effects on acute myocardial infarction.Conclusion:These observations indicated that the volatile oil of nutmeg had central depressant actions and no remarkable effect on acute myocardial infarction.

Determination of volatile oil and Ferulic Acid in Different Parts of Wild Ferula sinkiangensis K. M. Shen and Ferula fukanensis K. M.Shen Cultivars

[Objectives] To increase the reserves distribution and planting area of Ferula resources,protect wild Ferula resources,make comparative analysis on wild and cultivated varieties of Ferula medicinal materials,and provide references for quality evaluation of Ferula herbs collected from cultivation environment. [Methods] volatile oil determination and high performance liquid chromatography were used to measure volatile oil and ferulic acid in different parts of wild and cultivated varieties of Ferula. [Results] In the volatile oil measured from artificially pressed Ferula lipid,wild varieties in different places conformed to the pharmacopoeia standard( volatile oil content ≥10%); in cultivated varieties,F. fukanensis K. M. Shen and F. sinkiangensis K. M. shen reached the pharmacopoeia standard. According to measurement results of ferulic acid,the ferulic acid content of roots and leaves of Altay,Fukang,and Yining cultivars were higher than that of wild varieties. [Conclusions]The ferulic medicinal herbs collected from artificial cultivation environment have considerable prospect,and many parts of Ferula herbs can be used for raw materials for preparation of extracts.
