Echocardiographic predictors and associated outcomes of multiple vegetations in infective endocarditis:A pilot study

Impact of Tourism Interference on vegetations in Xijing Mountain

[Objective] Taking Xijing Mountain for example,this study investigates characteristics of roadside plant communities and width changes of trampled vegetations by the tourist road,analyzes influence of tourism activities on environment.[Method] Characteristics of roadside plant communities are studied by applying species diversity index,coverage and other such indexes;from the bottom to the top of Xijing Mountain,investigation objects are selected along the tourist road to measure the trampled width of vegetations.[Result] Characteristics of plant communities,trampled vegetations are both closely related to the design of tourist road.[Conclusion] Suggestions are proposed for the design of tourist road.

Native Aortic Valve Endocarditis—A Case Report

Introduction: To report a case of isolated “endocarditic” aortic regurgitation in a 17-year old female with infective vegetations on aortic valve. Case Report: A 17-year old female was admitted with features of heart failure and a febrile illness. Blood cultures were negative and ECG revealed normal. Echocardiography revealed a “kissing-type” of vegetation on the bicuspid aortic valve with severe aortic regurgitation and a dilated left ventricle with moderate dysfunction. Conclusion: The management of aortic insufficiency occurring in infective endocarditis may differ and the presence of intractable pulmonary edema or shock is a clear indication for prompt valve replacement. The traditional diagnostic criteria are insufficient to diagnose infective endocarditis and the modified Duke criteria provide high sensitivity and specificity over 80% for the diagnosis of native valve endocarditis with positive blood cultures.

Dynamics of the Vegetation Landscapes of the Mbere Valley’s National Park and Its Southern Periphery

The present study is about the dynamics of the vegetation landscapes of the Mbere Valley’s National Park and its southern periphery (MVNP). The physical and human characteristics of this area, translated by an inter-twining of natural, anthropic and institutional factors, predispose its vegetation cover to a dynamic which can be progressive or regressive according to the dominant factor. The present study aims at reconstituting the various space-time variations of the MVNP vegetation cover and its periphery between 1987 and 2014, and at determining the processes and the factors having supported these space-time variations of vegetation cover. The methodological step consists of an association of fieldwork and remote sensing in order to characterize the vegetation cover, to reconstitute the evolution of the vegetation cover and to determine the main factors of the processes of this evolution or dynamic. The diachronic analysis shows that the dynamics of the vegetation cover was marked by a progressive evolution between 1987 and 1999, and a regressive evolution between 1999 and 2014. On the base of fieldwork observations and the socio-economic surveys, it arises that the dynamics of the vegetation cover of the valley of Mbere and its periphery is subjected to the combined influence of the natural conditions, from the recurring anthropic disturbances as well as the weight of regulatory measures.
