The paper provides an overview of changes in the US policy stance toward China that have resulted in the currently unstable economic and trade relationship between the two countries. It reviews the trade and economic relationship between China and the US during the first year of the Trump Administration, summarizes the systematic changes in trade and external economic policies adopted by the Trump Administration in general, and particularly toward China, and observes the implementation of a hawkish trade policy that ignited dispute between the US and China. The main factors shaping the current situation are examined, including structural difficulties in the US economy, the characteristics of the Chinese institutional setting and policies that have become increasingly unacceptable to the US, the specific personal beliefs and positions of President Trump and his main aides in the economic and trade team, and short-term factors in the US internal political arena.

As an extension of traditional trade,digital trade is a new type of trade in the era of the digital *** this paper,we first analyze the digital trade-related strategies of eight leading economies through word clouds and dissect China s digital trade-related policies using the word frequency method by sorting through the digital trade-related policy documents of 26 economies and Chinese *** then evaluate the status quo of digital trade development in 111 countries and Chinese provinces by building a digital trade index system to determine the development environment and market *** results show that all countries attach great importance to digital technology,data and government guidance in the development of digital *** results also reveal that"development,""service"and"construction"are the three most frequently used words in various Chinese *** overall level of China s digital trade is at the global vanguard,but is characterized by uneven regional *** the era of digital trade,traditional international trade theory is also in urgent need of breakthroughs and innovation.

From 2000 to 2007, Chinese exports grew at a phenomenal pace. Our paper uses finely detailed Chinese export data （8-digit Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System codes） combined with US trade data to explore how this was achieved. Although general explanations such as China ~ exchange rate policy no doubt played a role, we find that sector-specific stories, effective Chinese industrial policy and fortuitous timing were more critical The detailed trade data reveal that ＂＇new ＂＇ technology goods, such as cell phones, LCD screens and laptops, played a key role. Finally, we use the data to examine the relationship between Chinese exports and global manufacturing, in particular US manufacturing employment. We find that competition from China in both domestic and foreign markets likely contributed to a significant decline in USA manufacturing employment, but that relatively low US investment and slow GDP growth in the US following the 2001 recession played an equally important role.

Inspired by recent environmental historical studies on animal extinctions and human-animal relations,this paper shifts scholarly attention from the plague-centered narrative of the great Pneumonic Plague Epidemics(1910—11)to the fate of the plague host animals,Tarbagan marmots(Marmota sibirica>,and examines their ncar-extinction in Northwest Manchuria(Hulunbuir)from the 1900s to *** on changing images of Tarbagan marmots from“inexpensive,”“sacred,”and“beneficial”in the pre-modem period to“valuable,”“dangerous,”and“noxious”in the early twentieth century,it argues that three interrelated factors:the international fur trade,pneumonic plagues,and environment changes together resulted in the“retreat of the marmots.”It also]uses this case study to help us better understand larger historical changes that occurred by contextualizing them in terms of human-marmot relations in Manchuria,China and beyond.

China has continued to experience rapid growth in its foreign trade since the implementation of its reform and opening-up policies. In recent years, the country has become the world＇s largest exporter and second largest importer of goods and commodities. China＇s trade policy has also gradually been transforming from protectionism to open trade. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive survey on the literature of China＇s trade policy. The review covers （1） export and import policies, （2） tariff and non-tariff barriers, and （3） policy effects and motivations behind the policy design. This paper also reports on important topics and issues that deserve more research attention.

This paper investigates the effect of trade openness and other variables on thedemographic transition in China using the instrumental variables regression methodbased on provincial panel data for the period between 1981 and 2013. The resultsindicate that trade openness is one of the determinants of China＇s demographictransition and has two distinct effects：（i） an income effect that accelerated thedemographic transition by increasing per capita income; and （ii） a human capital effectthat suppressed the demographic transition by reducing human capital *** effects of trade on demographic transition vary across different regions. This studyidentifies the important determinants of demographic transition in China＇s regions, andhas rich policy implications for demographic transition and the upgrading of tradestructure.

In this survey, we discuss how intellectual property rights （IPR） protection in the South affects trade flows, foreign direct investment （FDI） flows, and technology transfers from the North to the South. We also discuss optimal IPR policies and their effect on innovation. Our discussion covers both theoretical studies and empirical evidence. This survey is both comprehensive and critical. It aims to give readers the current state of IPR and globalization literature. Some issues have been studied more thoroughly, whereas for others the surface has only been scratched upon. This survey gives readers a clearer picture of the literature and may help them find future research topics.

China＇s recent surge in trade has been associated with its deepening but contrasting trade relations with its two groups of key trading partners. On the one hand, China＇ s trade surpluses with the USA and the EU have risen rapidly, reaching US$144bn and US$91bn in 2006, respectively. On the other hand, China is importing heavily from its Asian neighbors. This diverging pattern of trade relations between China and its main trading partners reflects the continuous expansion and intensification of a complex cross-border production network in Asia, particularly for consumer electronics. In the process of deepening manufacturing sharing, China serves as an essential export platform for firms headquartered in the more advanced economies. These firms export intermediate goods from the relatively more advanced Asian economies to their affiliates in China where these inputs are assembled and then shipped to key export markets, including primarily the USA and the EU. One apparent outcome of the growing processing and assembly trade is the increased interdependency among Asian economies, which are now more dependent on each other than ever. It has also led to substantial structural changes and technological upgrading in China＇ s traded goods.

Decision-Making of a Single Supplier and Multiple Loss-Averse Retailers under Partial trade Credit

Under partial trade credit,suppliers usually require retailers to pay a fraction of the purchase cost immediately when ordering and the remaining payment is deferred at the end of the sales *** a supply chain consisting of a risk-neutral supplier and multiple loss-averse retailers,we develop models under partial trade *** analyze the optimal decisions of a supplier and retailers under decentralized *** study shows that there is a unique Nash equilibrium among the retailers,and the optimal total order quantity of retailers increases as the delayed payment ratio increases and as the degree of retailers'competition increases,but decreases with an increase in the loss *** studies are conducted to demonstrate the solution procedures and the effects of the parameters on decisions and profits.
