state-owned enterprises(SOEs)are both the economic and political bases of the Chinese Communist Party(the Party)and the Chinese *** overarching principle of SOE reform is to firmly implement the Party’s leadership and the modern enterprise *** principle creates a political governance system in China’s SOEs—a Party-dominated governance system characterized by Party leadership,state ownership,Party cadre management,Party participation in corporate decision-making,and intra-Party *** survey explains the logic of political governance in China’s SOEs,presents the evolution and current practices of each element of the system,and discusses findings from both academic research and the field.

A growing number of developed country governments in recent years have adopted a hostile attitude towards foreign direct investments undertaken in their markets by state-owned enterprises （SOEs）, the latter often based in China. The broad reason for this hostility is the belief that state-owned enterprises pursue non-commercial objectives with resulting damage to host economies. This paper argues that the empirical evidence shows SOEs are increasingly exhibiting market-owned behavior. Furthermore, any adverse consequences of non-commercial behavior are likely to be realized primarily by the SOEs themselves.

The study aims to explore whether internationalization by state-owned enterprises is a curse or blessing in the context of aspirant industrial economies,such as *** do state-owned enterprises'global production aspirations,such as outward foreign direct investment,bring into their home country?To answer this question,this study proposes a unique,co-evolutionary perspective of the state-driven industrialized economy by leveraging insights from economic discoveries such as Adam Smith's wealth of nations,David Ricardo's comparative advantage,and Michael Porter's competitive *** view suggests that an outward foreign investment strategy may likely provide state-owned enterprises with access to resources and advanced production technologies,enhance innovation capabilities,gain more competitive advantage,and achieve superior performance,thus leading to spillover effects on their home country's wealth,comparative advantage,and *** study discusses China's grand policies,economic performance,and successful cross-border industrial acquisitions.

China’s state-owned enterprises(SOEs)have developed more than 70 years since the People’s Republic of China(PRC)was founded in *** 1949 to 1978,SOEs provided material guarantee for the construction of the PRC,laid a solid foundation for the industrialization process,and ensured that the people were masters of their own *** 1978 to 2012,SOEs upgraded their growth quality and increased their efficiency for improving people’s material and cultural *** 2012,SOEs have become“stronger,better and bigger”on all fronts for satisfying people’s growing expectations for a better *** essence,reforming SOEs means interpreting and exercising the people-centered development philosophy,and means addressing principal social contradiction through different stages of socialist development,as SOEs care about the main needs of the *** a development is a process of constant exploration and continuous growth from strength to strength,which is the inherent logic of theory and practice of SOE growth in new China for more than 70 years.

The purpose of this paper is to examine whether and to what extend Greek state-owned enterprises engage in earnings management techniques during *** prior studies on earnings management have used data from large economies with relative stable macroeconomic contexts(e.g.,USA).Our knowledge about earnings management in smaller economies is rather *** fill this void,we conducted our study in Greece and focused on the abovementioned period,which is very interesting given that Greece experienced a substantial political and macroeconomic instability(e.g.,four elections,one referendum,capital controls,and two memorandums).Two different models(i.e.,The Earnings Distribution Model and the Modified Jones Model)are used to provide answers to the research *** sample is composed of 50 state-owned *** results show that Greek state-owned enterprises did not adopt any earnings management techniques during the examined *** results are rather robust given that they come from two different *** to the literature,macroeconomic and political instability provide incentives to managers to use earnings management *** though,our results suggest that this is not the case for a smaller *** findings of this study will allow investors,auditors,and users of the financial statements to make better decisions when studying companies that are experiencing those *** adoption of two different methods and the similar results is an indication of more robust and valid findings.
