Objective: To investigate the effects of Composition of Ophiopogon polysaccharide, Notoginseng total saponins and rhizoma Coptidis alkaloids(CONR) on myocardial apoptosis of diabetic atherosclerosis(DA) rabbits Methods: Sixty male New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into 6 groups [control group, model group, CONR high-dose group(450 mg/kg), CONR medium-dose group(150 mg/kg), CONR low-dose group(50 mg/kg), and simvastatin group] by using a completely random method, 10 in each group. DA model was established by intravenously injected alloxan combined with high-fat diet and abdominal aortic balloon injury. After mediation for 10 weeks, fasting blood glucose(FBG), glycosylated hemoglobin(GHB), glycosylated serum protein(GSP), fructoseamine(FRA), aldose reductase(AR), advanced glycation end products(AGEs) in serum were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) method;the expression of receptor of AGEs(RAGE) in myocardial tissue were observed by immunohistochemical method;and p-Jun N-terminal kinase(p-JNK), caspase-3, B-cell lymphoma-2(bcl-2) protein expression in myocardial tissue were measured by Western blotting. The myocardial apoptosis was detected by Td T-mediated d UTPnick-end labeling(TUNEL) method, and apoptosis index(AI) was calculated. Results: Compared with the control group, serum FBG, GHB, GSP, FRA, AR, AGEs and the expression of myocardium RAGE, p-JNK, caspase-3 proteins, as well as apoptosis index(AI) were significantly increased and bcl-2 protein was significantly decreased in the model group(P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the levels of serum FBG, GHB, GSP, FRA and AR showed a significant decline in CONR high-and medium-dose groups(P<0.01). FBG and GHB showed a significant decline in CONR low-dose group(P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the expression of serum AGEs and myocardium RAGE, p-JNK and caspase-3 protein as well as AI were significantly decreased and bcl-2 protein was significantly up-regulated in all treatme

OBJEVTIVE: To investigate the effects of extracts from Chuanwu(Aconitum Carmichaelii) and Banxia(rhizoma Pinelliae) on the excisional wound healing in a rat's ***: Rats were performed a surgical lesion with a 2.0 cm resected tissue in the dorsal ***, animals were randomly divided into model group, YNB group and APE group those were respectively treated with saline, 1 mg/mL of Yunnan Baiyao and 1 mg/mL of Chuanwu(Aconitum Carmichaelii) and Banxia(rhizoma Pinelliae) extracts. Wound contractions in days 0, 3, 7, 14 and 21 were calculated by an image analyzer. Histological analysis was analyzed using hematoxilin and *** of tumor necrosis factor-2(IL-2), IL-4, IL-10, transformαin(TNF-g growα), interleukinth factor-1(TGF-nd basic fibroblast growth factor(bFββ1) a-GF) were determined by real-time quantitative ***: Compared with that of YNB group and APE gtoup, the skin of rats showed poor re-modeling and re-epithelization characterized by a significant decrease of neovascularization, epithelialization and fibroblast in the model group. In the APE group, levels of TNF-α-and IL-2 were significantly down-regulated and IL4 and IL-10 significantly upregulated in contrasted with that of model *** addition, levels of TGF-roup were significantly iβ1 and bFGF in the APE gnduced compared with that of model ***: The results suggest that the extracts from Chuanwu(Aconitum Carmichaelii) and Banxia(rhizoma Pinelliae) promote wound healing in the rats, which is associated with enhancing antiinflammatory ability and inducing fibroblast formation.

Objective: To explore the mechanism of action of Radix et rhizoma Rhei (Dahuang)(RERR) and Semen Persicae (Taoren)(SP) on adhesive intestinal obstruction (AIO). Methods: The main targets of the active ingredients of RERR and SP were filtered based on the traditional Chinese medicine system pharmacology analysis platform. Cytoscape 3.2.1 was applied to build the ingredient-target network of RERR and SP for AIO. Results: Fifteen active components were predicted from the RERR and SP herb pair, such as aloe-emodin, catechin, rhein, gibberellin (GA) 119, GA120 and GA121. These components were applied to 59 targets mainly involved in many biological processes such as signal transduction, anti-apoptosis, and inflammatory response involved in activating the immune effect. Conclusion: This study proposes the system pharmacology method and identifies the potent combination therapeutic mechanism of RERR and SP for AIO. This strategy will provide a new insight to the study of herb combinations.

Abstract: Objective To establish an objective method for evaluating the intrinsic characteristics between hot and cold properties of herbal drugs and to study the hot property of Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (ALRP) and its compatibility with Zingiberis rhizoma (ZR) on animal temperature tropism. Methods The equipment with cold/hot pads was used to investigate the variety of temperature tropism among mice treated by ALRP and its compatibility with ZR. Meanwhile, the activities of adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase), total anti-oxidant capability (T-AOC), and total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD) were measured. Results Compared with the homologous ALRP group, the compatibility between ALRP and ZR (AZ) had a stronger action against the decreasing of remaining rate on hot pad (P < 0.05), suggesting an enhancement of cold tropism. Meanwhile, the internal indexes of Na+-K+-ATPase activity, Ca2+-Mg2+-ATPase activity, and oxygen consuming volume increased significantly (P < 0.05), suggesting an enhancement of energy metabolism. The changes of T-AOC and T-SOD activity suggested that AZ reinforced the anti-oxidative capability of mice. In addition, it could be inferred from cluster analysis that the activity of AZ was concretely stronger than that of homologous ALRP. Conclusion ALRP and ZR are both herbs with hot property, but AZ has an enhanced trend of hot property. This external behavior of cold tropism and the internal activity of energy metabolism and anti-oxidant might reflect the internal hot property in an intuitive and objective way. The changes of ATPase activity of liver tissue might be the mechanism of drug action.

Effects of Inhaled the Cyperi rhizoma and Perillae herba Essential Oil on Emotional States, Autonomic Nervous System and Salivary Biomarker

It is well-known that odor has a good influence on a human mind and body. In this study, we investigated the effect of the essential oil inhalation of Cyperi rhizoma and Perillae herba which were main aromatic herbs ingredient of the Kososan, to psychological condition, autonomic nerve activity and salivary biomarker. In addition, we examined influence by the favorite difference in odor. 25 healthy female volunteers (control group: 5 people;Cyperi rhizoma group: 10 people;Perillae herba group: 10 people) were examined. POMS was examined at PRE and POST the experiment. Pulse analyser was examined and saliva samples were collected before the inhalation, just after the inhalation, 10 minutes and 20 minutes later, respectively. Saliva samples analyzed for levels of α-amylase and cortisol. At the examination for POMS after the experiment, the preference for the odor was confirmed. About both Cyperi rhizoma and Perillae herba, by the essential oil inhalation, mental stability and relaxation effect were provided in psychological and psysiological evaluation. In the “like” group, relaxation was greater than “unlike” group. However, about Cyperi rhizoma, the stress was relaxed regardless of the favorite difference in odor, and a physical relaxation effect was shown. In addition, about the autonomic nerve activity, the parasympathetic nerve was not activated, and it was suggested that it was made and stabilized the balance of the autonomic nerve.

rhizoma Menispermi, derived from the rhizoma of Menispermum dauricum DC., is one of the most popular Chinese medicines. However rhizoma Menispermi is often illegally mixed with other species in the herbal market, including Aristolochia mollissimae Hance, which is toxic to the kidneys and potentially carcinogenic. The use of DNA barcoding to authenticate herbs has improved the management and safety of traditional medicines. In this paper, 49 samples belonging to five species, including 34 samples of M. dauricum, from different locations and herb markets in China were collected and identified using DNA barcoding. The sequences of all 34 samples of rhizoma Menispermi are highly consistent, with only one site variation in internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) of nuclear ribosomal DNA and no variations in the psbA-trnH region. The intra-specific genetic distance is much smaller than inter-specific one. Phylogenetic analysis shows that both sequences allow the successful identification of all species. Nearest distance and BLAST1 methods for the ITS2 and psbA-trnH regions indicate 100% identification efficiency. Our research shows that DNA barcoding can effectively distinguish rhizoma Menispermi from its adulterants from both commercial and original samples, which provides a new and reliable way to monitor commercial herbs and to manage the modern medicine market.

[Objectives]To accurately determine the naringin content in rhizoma Drynariae.[Methods]The high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)method was applied in the determination of the naringin content in rhizoma *** sample was sonicated at room *** mobile phase was 0.1%phosphoric acid-acetonitrile(75∶25),detected by diode array detector at the wavelength of 284 nm,and quantified by external standard method.[Results]The linearity of naringin was good in the concentration range of 5-500μg/mL with a correlation coefficient of 0.9999.[Conclusions]This method has good linearity,easy operation,correctness and reproducibility as required,and is expected to provide a method for the determination of naringin content in rhizoma Drynariae.
