Alien calculus and non perturbative effectsin quantum field theory

In many domains of physics, methods for dealing with non-perturbative aspects are required. Here, I want to argue that a good approach for this is to work on the Borel transforms of the quantities of interest, the singularities of which give non-perturbative contributions. These singularities in many cases can be largely determined by using the alien calculus developed by Jean Écalle. My main example will be the two point function of a massless theory given as a solution of a renormalization group equation.

Today's quantum field theory (QFT) relies heavenly on canonical quantization (CQ), which fails for φ44 leading only to a “free” result. Affine quantization (AQ), an alternative quantization procedure, leads to a “non-free” result for the same model. Perhaps adding AQ to CQ can improve the quantization of a wide class of problems in QFT.

Present day quantum field theory (QFT) is founded on canonical quantization, which has served quite well but also has led to several issues. The free field describing a free particle (with no interaction term) can suddenly become nonrenormalizable the instant a suitable interaction term appears. For example, using canonical quantization , has been deemed a “free” theory with no difference from a truly free field [1] [2]. Using the same model, affine quantization has led to a truly interacting theory [3]. This fact alone asserts that canonical and affine tools of quantization deserve to be open to their procedures together as a significant enlargement of QFT.

This paper uses the background field method to calculate one-loop divergent corrections to the gauge field propa- gators in noncommutative U（1） gauge theory with scalar fields. It shows that for a massless scalar field, the gauge field propagators are renormalizable to 02-order, but for a massive scalar field they are renormalizable only to O-order.

Path integral approach to electron scattering in classical electromagnetic potential

As is known to all, the electron scattering in classical electromagnetic potential is one of the most widespread applications of quantum theory. Nevertheless, many discussions about electron scattering are based upon single-particle Schrodinger equation or Dirac equation in quantum mechanics rather than the method of quantum field theory. In this paper, by using the path integral approach of quantum field theory, we perturbatively evaluate the scattering amplitude up to the second order for the electron scattering by the classical electromagnetic potential. The results we derive are convenient to apply to all sorts of potential forms. Furthermore, by means of the obtained results, we give explicit calculations for the one-dimensional electric potential.

We implement a two-atom √swap Bate via cavity QED. During the preparation, a cavity-assisted collision betweenatoms is required, and this does not need any auxiliary atom. The cavity is only virtually excited, thus our scheme is insensitive to the cavity field states and to the cavity decay. The scheme can be implemented by the present cavity QED techniques.

Noncommutative Chern-Simons （NCCS） theory is a workable description for the fractional quantum Hall fluid. We apply and generalize the NCCS theory to the physically important case with an edge. Prom relabeling symmetry of electrons and incompressibility of the fluid, we obtain a constraint and reduce the two-dimensional NCCS theory to a one-dimensional chiral Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid theory, which contains additional interaction terms. Further, we calculate one-loop corrections to the boson and electron propagators and obtain a new tunneling exponent, which agrees with experiments.
