Traditional Chinese Medicine in the prevention and treatment of stable angina pectoris in patients with coronary heart disease based on the theory of "phlegm and blood stasis" under guidance of evidence-based medicine:a prospective cohort study

OBJECTIVE: To ascertain whether continuous treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) combined with standardized drug therapy from Western Medicine can further reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease and angina and reduce the incidence of angina pectoris in patients with coronary heart ***: A multicenter, prospective cohort study of 1042 patients in 22 hospitals was conducted. A total of 423 patients with angina pectoris were treated with standardized Western Medicine alone(control group) and 619 with a combination of Chinese and Western Medicine(exposure group). The two groups underwent follow-up for 1 year to establish whether there was any improvement in the incidence of cardiovascular events or change in the curative ***: The incidence of primary endpoint events in the combined-exposure group decreased by 0.45%(P > 0.05) and the incidence of secondary terminal events decreased by 5.25% in comparison with the control group(P < 0.05). The total angina pectoris score clearly decreased in the Western Medicine group over the first 6 months, but the decline was more apparent in the combined-exposure ***: Compared with treatment using standardized Western Medicine alone, providing TCM combined with Western medical treatment reduced the incidence of cardiovascular events in patients with stable angina pectoris(grade Ⅱ endpoint) and effectively improved the curative effect.

Obesity is closely related to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Although sex differences in body fat distribution have been well demonstrated,little is known about the sex-specific associations between adipose tissue and the development of *** community-based cohort data,we evaluated the associations between magnetic resonance imaging quantified areas of abdominal adipose tissue,including visceral adipose tissue(VAT)and subcutaneous adipose tissue(SAT),and incident NAFLD in 2830 participants(1205 males and 1625 females)aged 55–70 *** a 4.6-year median follow-up,the cumulative incidence rates of NAFLD increased with areas of VAT and SAT both in males and in *** analyses showed that the abovementioned positive associations were stronger in males than in females,especially in participants under 60 years *** contrast,these sex differences disappeared in those over 60 years ***,the risk of developing NAFLD increased non-linearly with increasing fat area in a sex-specific ***,sex-specific potential mediators,such as insulin resistance,lipid metabolism,inflammation,and adipokines,may exist in the associations between adipose tissue and *** study showed that the associations between abdominal fat and the risk of NAFLD were stratified by sex and age,highlighting the potential need for sex-and age-specific management of NAFLD.

Decompression alone versus decompression with instrumented fusion for young patients with single-level lumbar disc herniation：a short-term prospective comparative study

prospective cohort studies linking dietary patterns and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) are limited, especially in Asian populations. This study aimed to prospectively investigate the association between dietary patterns and risk of NAFLD in a general Chinese adult population. Methods This study included a total of 17,360 participants free from NAFLD at baseline. Dietary patterns at baseline were identified with factor analysis based on responses to a validated 100-item food frequency questionnaire. NAFLD was diagnosed by abdominal ultrasound after excluding other causes related to chronic liver disease. Cox proportional regression models were used to assess the association between dietary patterns and risk of NAFLD. Results During a median follow-up of 4.2 years, 4,034 NAFLD cases were documented. Three main dietary patterns were extracted: sugar rich dietary pattern, vegetable rich dietary pattern, and animal food dietary pattern. After adjusting for age, sex, body mass index, smoking, alcohol, education, occupation, income, physical activity, total energy intake, personal and family history of disease, depressive symptoms, dietary supplement use, inflammation markers, and each other dietary pattern score, comparing the highest with the lowest quartiles of dietary pattern scores, the multivariable hazard ratios(95% confidence interval) of NAFLD were 1.11(1.01, 1.23) for sugar rich dietary pattern, 0.96(0.86, 1.07) for vegetable rich dietary pattern, and 1.22(1.10, 1.36) for animal food dietary pattern. Further adjustment for waist circumference instead of body mass index provided similar results. Conclusion Dietary patterns rich in animal foods or sugar were associated with a higher risk of NAFLD among Chinese adults, whereas a vegetable rich dietary pattern was not associated.

Background: Gastric cancer(GC), particularly of the intestinal subtype, is known to be preceded by a stepwise progression of precancerous gastric lesions, and its early detection and early management remain a major public health challenge. Robust biomarkers are urgently required to distinguish individuals of precancerous gastric lesions that have progression potential to GC. Lipids are involved in various key cellular processes that may be crucial for GC. Exploration of lipidomic profiles thus represents a biologically plausible approach to pursue promising biomarkers for early detection and diagnoses of GC. In a lipidomic study, we aimed to explore lipidomic fingerprints that may distinguish subjects with different gastric lesions and individuals that had a potential of progressing to ***: Our population-based cohort study included a total of 400 subjects in two stages, which was initiated in 2017 based on the National Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer Early Detection Program in Linqu County, Shandong Province of China, a recognized high-risk area for GC. The discovery stage involved 200 participants with different gastric lesions(n=169) and GC(n=31). We then sought to validate the findings on the discovered lipidomic profiles and individual lipids based on an independent validation set of 200 participants, including 48 cases of GC and 152 cases of different gastric lesions, which were prospectively followed for the progression of gastric lesions by 118 to1204 days. Of them, 76 subjects undertook three or more gastroendoscopy examinations during the follow-up. The plasma lipidomic profiling was conducted by using ultra high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. We examined the lipidomic signatures associated with the risk of advanced gastric lesions and their progression to GC, leveraging the prospective follow-up of study subjects. Objective To compare the short-term efficacy indicators of laparoscopic technique and open surgery in patients with rectal cancer surgery,and to further evaluate the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic rectal cancer *** This study adopted a prospective multicenter,open-label,non-randomized concurrent control method to analyze patients who received rectal cancer surgery from 10 colorectal tumor centers across the country from January 2017 to December *** two groups of patients received laparoscopic-assisted surgery and conventional open surgery *** surgeons were selected according to relevant standards and participated in the two groups of operations at the same *** evaluation and analysis of the operation and postoperative recovery,postoperative pathological results,survival information,postoperative related functional scores and other *** In the open surgery group,the proportion of tumors with a maximum diameter of more than 5 cm was higher(χ2=0.089,P=0.018),and the proportion of T4 was higher(χ2=0.478,P<0.001).In the laparoscopic group,the proportion of more than 12 harvested lymph nodes was higher(χ2=0.248,P<0.001).There were no significant differences in the length of postoperative hospital stay,intraoperative blood loss,time to first flatus after operation,time to first out of bed,time to first liquid diet,and preservation rate of anal sphincter between the two groups,but in the laparoscopic surgery group the operation time was shorter(t=6.750,P<0.001)and postoperative pain was less(t=0.896,0.63,0.964,and 0.989 on postoperative days 1,2,and 3,respectively,all P<0.001).The incidence of grade 2–4 adverse complication in the two groups was 12.5%and 14.6%,respectively,with no statistical difference(χ2=0.061,P=0.105),but the incidence of incision infection was lower in the laparoscopy group(χ2=0.19,P<0.001).There was no significant difference in 3-year disease-free survival between the two groups(HR=1.089,9
