The goal of the present study is to investigate the relationship between pupils’problem posing and problem solving abilities,their beliefs about problem posing and problem solving,and their general mathematics abilities,in a Chinese *** instruments,i.e.,a problem posing test,a problem solving test,a problem posing questionnaire,a problem solving questionnaire,and a standard achievement test,were administered to 69 Chinese fifth-grade pupils to assess these five variables and analyze their mutual *** revealed strong correlations between pupils’problem posing and problem solving abilities and beliefs,and their general mathematical abilities.

Research suggests that physical fitness is positively associated with cognitive functioning in older adults, and that executive functions may be associated in particular. This study explored whether personality supplemented the relationship between physical activity and problem-solving. A computerized version of the Tower of London provided number of errors and time to completion as dependent variables using a sample of 65 community-dwelling older people. The NEO-FFI assessed the Big 5 dimensions of personality. Choice reaction time was used to control for changes in speed of processing with increased age. Age remained a significant predictor of both dependent variables, with neuroticism and agreeableness also showing predictive ability. Aerobic fitness was not associated with either outcome measure, suggesting that there might be differential effects of exercise on measures of different executive functions. Personality factors appear to have a stronger association with the cognitive function that has been reported previously.

This paper looks at student's view of the usefulness of a problem solving and programming module in the first year of a 3-year undergraduate *** School of Science and Technology,University of Northampton,UK has been investigating,over the last seven years the teaching of problem *** looking at whether a more visual approach has any benefits(the visual programming includes both 2-d and graphical user interfaces).Whilst the authors have discussed the subject problem solving and programming in the past [1] this paper considers the students perspective from research collected/collated by a student researcher under a new initiative within the *** students interviewed either had completed the module within the two years of the survey or were completing the problem-solving module in their first year.

Scheduling plays an important role in many different service industries. In this paper we provide an overview of some of the more important scheduling problems that appear in the various service industries. We focus on the formulations of such problems as well as on the techniques used for solving those problems. We consider five areas of scheduling in service industries, namely （i） project scheduling, （ii） workforce scheduling, （iii） timetabling, reservations, and appointments, （iv） transportation scheduling, and （v） scheduling in entertainment. The first two areas are fairly general and have applications in many different service industries. The third, fourth and fifth areas are more related to some very specific service industries, namely the hospitality and health care industries, the transportation industries （of passengers as well as of cargo）, and the entertainment industries. In our conclusion section we discuss the similarities and the differences between the problem formulations and solution techniques used in the various different industries and we also discuss the design of the decision support systems that have been developed for scheduling in the service industries.

The effect of range-Doppler coupling caused by aircraft moving at very high speed makes trouble on selection of waveform parameters by using frequency-modulated interrupted continuous wave (FMICW) or frequency-coded pulse (FCP). It also limits the increasing of coherent integration time. In this paper, application of coherent phase-coded pulse train (CPCPT) solves range-Doppler coupling well. Relevant processing of CPCPT consists of three parts: Doppler preprocessing, pulse compression, and Doppler post-processing. The velocity information obtained by Doppler preprocessing is used for better pulse compression and range tracking. Doppler post-processing with range tracking could make longer coherent accumulation for better detection of target and higher velocity resolution. Finally, examples of data simulation are given to demonstrate the achievements mentioned above.

In this paper, we propose a modified evolutionary programming with dynamic domain for solving nonlinear IP/MIP problems with linear constraints, without involving penalty function or any transformation for the problem to a linear model or others. The numerical results show that the new algorithm gives a satisfactory performance in which it works of high speed, and accuracy in IP/MIP problems.

First of all, this paper discusses the drawbacks of multilayer perceptron (MLP), which is trained by the traditional back propagation (BP) algorithm and used in a special classification problem. A new training algorithm for neural networks based on genetic algorithm and BP algorithm is developed. The difference between the new training algorithm and BP algorithm in the ability of nonlinear approaching is expressed through an example, and the application foreground is illustrated by an example.

In this paper, antiplane response of an isosceles triangular hill to incident SH waves is studied based on the method of complex function and by using moving coordinate system. The standing wave function, which can satisfy the governing equation and boundary condition, is provided. Furthermore, numerical examples are presented; the influences of wave number and angle of the incident waves and the angle of the hill’s peak on ground motion are discussed.
