Mechanical and Thermal Properties of polysiloxanes and NBR Blend Elastomer

A series of elastomers , based on NBR , polysiloxanes （PS） were prepared and characterized by tensile tests, thermogravimetry （ TG ） and differential scanning calorimetry （ DSC ）. Two kinds of vulcanizing agent, DMDBH （2,5-dimethyl- 2,5-di （ t- butyl perory ） hexane ） and DCP （ dicumylperoxide ） were used to investigate the influence of different vulcanizing agents on properties of PS/ NBR. The addition of PS to NBR was found to improve the thermal stability and decrease the tensile strength of NBR. The tensile strength decreased conshterably while the elongation at break increased obviously with the increase of PS content. The series using DMDBH as vulcanizing agent showed a higher tensile strength and elongation at break than the series using DCP as vulcanizing agent. Simultaneity the thermal stability increased with the increase of PS content.

A new serial chiral side-chain liquid crystal polysiloxanes containing L-Tyr structures were synthesized at room temperature. Both of them exhibited Sc phase at room temperature.

Two new kinds of Cholesteric cyclohexaneContaining Side-Chain Liquid-Crystalline polysiloxanes（PA and PB）were synthesized via hydrosilylation reaction of polymethyl hydrogen siloxane with cyclo-hexane mesogenic monomers（MA and MB）.The yield of PA,PB were 71.6%,82.5%and 81.0%,*** molecular structures of MA and MB,PA and PB were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR）and hydrogen-nuclear magnetic resonance spectra（1H-NMR）.The corresponding liquid crystalline phase type was also observed by polarizing optical microscopy（POM）and Xray diffraction（XRD）.The liquid crystalline phase behavior and thermal properties of the polymers were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry（DSC）.Results showed that MA and MBexhibited multicolor platelet texture of a blue phase and cholesteric phase,and the Tm and Ti of MA and MBincreased with the increasing flexible chain *** mesophase temperature range of PA and PB was broader than that of MA and *** a rare nematic phase——spherulite texture of polymeric smectic A *** of cholesteric and nematic——cholesteric *** Tm and Ti of PA and PB increased with the increasing flexible spacer groups.

Synthesis of poly[methyl(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)siloxane]-b-poly(ethylene oxide) block copolymers

A series of new amphiphilic poly[methyl（3,3,3-trifluoropropyl）siloxane]-b-poly（ethylene oxide）（PMTFPS-b-PEO） diblock copolymers with different ratios of hydrophobic segment to hydrophilic segment were prepared by coupling reactions of end-functlonal PMTFPS and PEO homopolymers. Copolymers were shown to be well defined and narrow molecular weight distribution （MWD）（1.07-1.3） by characterizations such as gel permeation chromatography （GPC） and ^1H-nudear magnetic resonance （^1H-NMR）.
