The study was conducted to understand the cognitive status of medical staff and patients on the status of periodontal disease and oral health care in patients with diabetes,and to provide reference for the implementation and improvement of diabetes management and health *** the Diabetes periodontal Status and Oral Health Knowledge Questionnaire,108 doctors,190 nurses,and 212 inpatients were *** study demonstrated that,the total scores of doctors,nurses,and patients with diabetes periodontal status and oral health knowledge were(31.18±5.14),(28.58±4.09)and(18.67±3.45)points,*** results of regression analysis showed that education level,department,and related training experience(pperiodontal status and oral health knowledge level of the medical staff,meanwhile the monthly income,department,and relevant training experience(pperiodontal status and oral health care knowledge level of the *** summary,the cognitive level of diabetic periodontal status and oral health care knowledge of the medical staff and patients’needs to be *** staff should pay attention to the study of diabetic periodontal status and oral health care knowledge,further perform a good job in the relevant health education of patients,which is helpful to maintain good oral hygiene.

The aim of this study was to identify the potential antibacterial effects of gatifloxacin on one of canine periodontal pathogens, Porphyromonas gulae. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of gatifloxacin and its bactericidal effects were investigated. Gatifloxacin inhibited the growth of the canine periodontopathic bacteria tested in broth. An MIC of 50 nM was found to be effective in inhibiting P. gulae. On performing adenosine triphosphate bioluminescence assay, gatifloxacin was found to exhibit bactericidal effects on the tested bacteria in a concentration-dependent manner. The safety of gatifloxacin in mammalian cells was evaluated by assessing the viability of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem (BMMS) cells treated with gatifloxacin. Almost over 80% of BMMS cells survived after a 3-day culture when treated with 100 nM of gatifloxacin. These results indicate that locally administered gatifloxacin has the potential for being used to prevent canine periodontal infection.

Chronic kidney disease(CKD)and chronic periodontitis(CP)are prevalent conditions which significantly impact public health *** diseases share inflammatory and oxidative stress mechanisms,an indication of a likely bidirectional *** editorial explored the association between CKD and CP by highlighting common inflammatory mechanisms and recent research findings that address this *** reviews of recent studies,we discussed how periodontal bacteria may activate systemic immune responses that affect both periodontal and renal ***,meta-analysis data indicated an increased risk of CKD development in patients with CP,and vice *** results suggest the need for more rigorous research in the future in order to address the confounding factors and evaluate specific periodontal health interventions and their direct effects on kidney *** emphasized the importance of comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for the improvement of the overall health of patients affected by CP and CKD.

Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is a common genetic disorder with a highly variable phenotype. The disease affects both proliferation and differentiation of cells of neurectodermal origin. The presence of tumors is very common like benign nodular neurofibromas. Tumors with unclear prognosis may be present like plexiform neurofibromas whose prognosis is more uncertain. While many organs exhibit pathologies, most commonly affected are the nervous system, skin, gastrointestinal tract and heart. Oral abnormalities are also very common: 72% of NF-1 patients exhibit pathologies in oral mucosa, gums, maxillary and temporomandibular joints, and teeth. The incidence of NF-1 and its relationship to the prevalence of caries have been discussed in other researches. It is known that poor oral hygiene plays a key role in the development of periodontal disease and caries. Here we review the oral manifestations of neurofibromatosis type 1 that we illustrate by a patient followed in the center of rare diseases of the hospital Henri Mondor, clinical service in which we work.

Effects of Nanometer Hydroxyapatite on Proliferation of periodontal Ligament Fibroblasts

Objective:To investigate possible effects of nanophase powder of hydroxyapatite on proliferation of periodontal ligament cells. Methods: With sol-gel method, the nanophase hydroxyapatite powders were fabricated. These powders were proved nanopaticles by transmission electron microscope. The effects on proliferation of periodontal ligament cell(PDLC) were observed in vitro with MTT [3-(4,5dimethylthiazo;-2-yl)-2,5-diphenytetralium bromide] method. Results: On the 2nd,3rd,4th day after treated with nanoparticles of hydroxyapatite, the proliferate activity of the PDLC increases significantly, compared with those with dense hydroxyaoatite and control but no significant difference could be found between the dense hydroxyapatite and the control. Conclusion: Nanophase hydroxyapatite can promote the regeneration of periodontal tissue.
