Introduction: Pregnancy as much as childbirth constitutes a risky situation, potentially fraught with sometimes dramatic complications: maternal death. Objective: We conducted this study with the aim of establishing the profile of those giving birth in our context with the aim to anticipate operationally in the future on morbidity but more on maternal deaths. Methodology: We conducted, using a structured questionnaire, a prospective descriptive study in representative maternity wards in the city of Douala;the study variables were socio-economic, anthropometric, obstetrical and clinical. Statistical analyses were carried out with CS Pro 7.3 and SPSS version 25.0 software. The Student, Chi-square and Fischer tests were used to compare the means of the variables and the percentages. Results: We recruited 305 births for our study. The average age of our births was 28.7 years ± 6.1 with an average height of 161.6 cm ± 5.06;an average body mass index at the start of pregnancy of 28.0 kilograms/square meter and 31.3 kilograms/square meter at delivery;the average weight gain was 8.4 g ± 5.37;an average gestation of 2.84±1.90;an average parity of 2.2 ± 2.1 with an average birth interval of 27.7 months ± 23.7. The average gestational age was 39.2 weeks ± 1.21 with pregnancy pathology dominated by malaria;85.9% began their prenatal follow-up before the 14th week of amenorrhea. Conclusion: The profile of childbirth in urban Cameroon does not seem potentially dystocic compared to that of the same regional and racial area.

History: Pediatric management of HIV infection in children in the Central African Republic began in 2004 with the use of fractionated adult antiretrovirals and Cotrimoxazole. It has evolved over the years with the use of pediatric forms, oral suspensions and dispersible tablets. The transition to Dolutegravir took place in 2020. The active file of our patients will grow from 78 to over 1900 today. Follow-up examinations are carried out to assess adherence to treatment. Objective: To determine the immunovirological profile and factors associated with treatment failure during follow-up of children on ART at the Bangui pediatric university hospital. Patients and Method: This was a cross-sectional, analytical study from May 30 to December 02, 2022. The study sample was drawn from a cohort of HIV-1-infected children followed up at the Bangui pediatric university hospital and on ART for three semesters who met the selection criteria. Results: The prevalence of treatment failure varied from one semester to the next. Thus, the prevalence of therapeutic failure was 20% in the first semester, 10% in the second semester and 7% in the third semester. The prevalence of virological failure was 10.28% in the first half of the year, 6.91% in the second half and 4.98% in the third. Secondly, immunological failure was 0.48% in the first half of the year, 0.32% in the second 0.64% in the third half. Finally, clinical failure was 8.82% in the first half, 4.82% in the second half, 1.92% in the third half. Socio-demographic and clinical factors associated with treatment failure were male gender (p 1000 copies/ml (p Conclusion: The occurrence of treatment failures in children is a major problem, especially in our resource-limited countries, given the challenges facing antiretroviral therapy. It is therefore necessary to carry out a study on resistance genotyping in order to propose correct management protocols, as the future of treatment programs depends on it.

Introduction: The stroke is a real public health problem due to its frequency, its severity, its residual physical and cognitive handicap and its financial cost for society. Goal of the Study: To contribute to the knowledge of these conditions in neurological practice in the Central African Republic. Methodology: Analytical cross-sectional study which took place over a period of 4 months from June 1 to September 30, 2020, in subjects aged 55 and over hospitalized in the Neurology department of the Friendship Sino University Hospital. Central African woman for a stroke with a complete file. Results: During the study, 118 patients were hospitalized in the department, including 24 cases of stroke, for a hospital frequency of 20.33%. The average age was 67.1 years old and the male/female sex ratio was 1.6. Motor deficit and language disorder were the main reasons for consultation (100%). Hypertension was the main risk factor (91.7%). Stroke was the most predominant type of stroke (54.8%). Most of our patients (58.3%) were admitted to healthcare facilities before 6 a.m. The lethality was 25%. There was a statistically significant association between the severity of hypertension and the type of stroke as well as the patient’s condition at discharge. The NIHSS score and the KARNOFSKY score were significantly related to the patient’s condition at discharge. All the discharged patients presented with sequelae such as hemiparesis (75%) and dysarthria (45.8%). Conclusion: Stroke is a serious, disabling pathology that is increasingly common with the aging of the population. The creation of a neurovascular unit and a rehabilitation unit could improve the prognosis and course of stroke in our elderly patients. .

Effects of saccharicterpenin on antioxidant status and urinary metabolic profile of rats

Saccharicterpenin is a new green additive agent that is derived from the extract of Theaceae plants and has the ability to improve immunity and meat quality, increase the digestive enzyme activity, and enhance the intestinal development and growth of animals. However, the antioxidant status and systematic changes in metabolic biochemistry associated with saccharicterpenin supplementation in animals are still unknown. This study examined the effects of saccharicterpenin on the antioxidant status and urinary metabolic profile of rats. Sixteen rats were randomly distributed to 2 groups. One group was treated with 400 mg/kg body weight of saccharicterpenin, and the other group was treated with equal amount of saline. Results revealed that saccharicterpenin significantly increased the capacities of antihydroxyl radical(13.18%) and anti-superoxide anion(14.36%), the total antioxidant capacity(48.27%),and the activities of total superoxide dismutase(3.68%), catalase(21.52%), glutathione peroxidase(5.83%)and glutathione S-transferase(29.59%)(P 0.05). Saccharicterpenin supplementation significantly increased the urinary levels of bile acids, ethanol. α-ketoglutarate, and a-hydroxy butyrate but decreased the level of N-acetylglutamate(P < 0.05). In summary, saccharicterpenin can enhance the antioxidant capacity and modulate the metabolism in rats.

The high frequency of dental extractions creates a high demand for prosthetic rehabilitation. Therefore, this study aimed to describe the profile of consumers of prosthetic care at the Institute of Odontology and Stomatology in Dakar. It was a descriptive and retrospective study of patients who had been consulted at the prosthetic clinic of the Institute of Odontology and Stomatology of Dakar. Data were collected from medical records from 09 November 2019 to 09 June 2020. The tools used to collect and process the information were the Sphinx software and the Excel spreadsheet. Out of the 101 patient records, 51% were male and 48% belonged to the age group of 18 to 39 years. Nearly 38.61% of the patients lived less than 5 km from the health care facility and 70.3% of the respondents had a monthly income of fewer than 100,000 FCFA. Clinically, 96% of patients came for functional reasons, 78.2% for aesthetic reasons, and partial edentulism was the most frequent diagnosis (96%). Chi-square tests were performed to find a dependency or non-dependency relationship between diagnosis and age, but also between income and treatment cost. In sum, age and diagnosis were independent of each other, just as patient income was not related to treatment cost. Proximity to health facilities, income, and cost of treatment are factors that influence accessibility to oral health care. It is important to integrate the profile of the consumer of care into global management.

Background: Programs targeting serodiscordant couples in Africa are not a priority in efforts to prevent Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection, although a large proportion of these occur in stable relationships, of which serodiscordance accounts for about two-thirds with a high risk of seroconversion of the seronegative partner. Objective: The objective of this study was to describe the profile of HIV serodiscordant couples followed in Kinshasa, DRC. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study to describe the profile of different heterosexual HIV serodiscordant couples followed at the Monkole Medical Center in Kinshasa, DRC, from November 2021 to June 2022. The data were collected from the information sheets elaborated by the research team as well as from the information provided by the computerized files of the patients managed at the Infectious Diseases Unit of the Monkole Medical Center after the signature of the informed consent. An average of 8 cc of blood was taken from a peripheral vein in the patient’s forearm, and was stored in EDTA tubes at −20˚C, of which at least 6 mL were used for biochemical analyses, 2 spots of 200 μL for each partner were stored on filter paper at −20˚C and were used for DNA extraction. Nested PCR confirmed the serological diagnosis. Results: Out of a total of 482 heterosexual couples followed for HIV at the Monkole Medical Center, 28 (5.8%) were HIV serodiscordant, of which 14 (2.9%) couples agreed to participate in the present study. The mean age was 43.39 ± 10 years with extremes ranging from 24 to 62 years. The patients were mainly from the informal sector (53.6%) and weighed between 61 and 71 kg (46.4%). Sexual intercourse continued in all couples, without condom use (85.7%) for desire of procreation (82.1%);although the great majority of HIV-negative partners (85.7%) were not under ARV prophylaxis. Leukopenia was found in 42.9% of HIV-negative partners compared to 21% of HIV-positive partners;all partners had a predominantly lymphocytic white blood cell count. 21.4% of

Background: For several decades, the introduction of AntiRetrovirals (ARVs) has improved the symptomatology of People Living with HIV (PLHIV), a spectacular reduction in morbidity and mortality, an improvement in life expectancy and quality of life of PLHIV. Objective: The objective of this study was to determine the profile of PLHIV initiating AntiRetroViral Treatment (ART) in the era of Dolutegravir in Kinshasa. Methods: Cross-section of a prospective cohort to determine the profile of PLHIV initiating ART in Kinshasa. The inclusions were from October 04, 2021 to February 15, 2022. Confirmation of the diagnosis was carried out by Nested PCR. The inclusion criteria were: being at least 18 years old, confirmed HIV positive, naïve to ART, consenting and having signed an informed consent. The parameters of interest followed for the present study were: age, sex, religion, level of study, marital status, occupation, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), the clinical profile, the opportunistic infections as well as the para-clinical assessment (biochemistry and molecular biology). Results: 67 (56.3%) women and 52 (43.7%) men were included, thus 119 patients, all confirmed positive for HIV by Nested PCR on the gag, pol and env regions. The average age of the patients included is 39.87 ± 12.36 years and the most represented age group is that of 36 to 45 years with 37 patients (31.9%). The average height was 1.66 ± 0.08 meters, with an average weight of 56.41 ± 13.30 kg, giving an average Body Mass Index (BMI) of 21.54 ± 5.17 kg/m2. The majority of patients were married (46.1%), of Protestant religion (70.7%), with secondary education (66.7%), and working in the informal sector (29.4%). 49 patients (41.5%) were in clinical stage 3 and 55 patients (47.0%) had a normal clinical status. Dear editor,The fictitious play(FP) was initially proposed by Brown [1]in 1951 as a handy learning rule. The main idea of FP can be described as follows: In a game process, the player who adopts FP assumes that the others choose their strategies randomly and independently, according to a fixed distribution. Based on this assumption, the player tends to choose his or her own strategy empirically to counter the opponents and ultimately earn more benefits. Many distinguished studies have been springing up after the introduction of FP.
