BACKGROUND This study examines the complex relationships among the neuroendocrine axis,gut microbiome,inflammatory responses,and gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).The findings provide new insights into the pathophysiology of IBS and suggest potential therapeutic targets for improving patient *** To investigate the interactions between the neuroendocrine axis,gut microbiome,inflammation,and gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with *** Patients diagnosed with IBS between January 2022 and January 2023 were selected for the *** individuals undergoing routine check-ups during the same period served as the control *** were collected on neuroendocrine hormone levels,gut microbiome profiles,inflammatory biomarkers,and gastrointestinal symptomatology to analyze their interrelations and their potential roles in IBS *** IBS patients exhibited significant dysregulation of the neuroendocrine axis,with altered levels of cortisol,serotonin,and neuropeptides compared to healthy *** gut microbiome of IBS patients showed reduced diversity and specific alterations in bacterial genera,including Bifidobacterium,Lactobacillus,and Faecalibacterium,which were associated with neuroendocrine ***,elevated levels of inflammatory markers,such as C-reactive protein,interleukin-6,and tumor necrosis factor-α,were observed and correlated with the severity of gastrointestinal symptoms like abdominal pain,bloating,and altered bowel *** The findings suggest that targeting the neuroendocrine axis,gut microbiome,and inflammatory pathways may offer novel therapeutic strategies to alleviate symptoms and improve the quality of life in IBS patients.

Celiac disease(CD) is a chronic immune-mediated disorder triggered by the ingestion of gluten in genetically predisposed individuals. Before activating the immune system, gluten peptides are transferred by the epithelial barrier to the mucosal lamina propria, where they are deamidated by intestinal tissue transglutaminase 2. As a result, they strongly bind to human leucocyte antigens(HLAs), especially HLA-DQ2 and HLA-DQ8, expressed on antigen-presenting cells. This induces an inflammatory response, which results in small bowel enteropathy. Although gluten is the main external trigger activating both innate and adaptive(specific) immunity, its presence in the intestinal lumen does not fully explain CD pathogenesis. It has been hypothesized that an early disruption of the gut barrier in genetically susceptible individuals, which would result in an increased intestinal permeability, could precede the onset of gluten-induced immune events. The intestinal barrier is a complex functional structure, whose functioning is dependent on intestinal microbiotahomeostasis, epithelial layer integrity, and the gutassociated lymphoid tissue with its intraepithelial lymphocytes(IELs). The aim of this paper was to review the current literature and summarize the role of the gut microbiota, epithelial cells and their intercellular junctions, and IELs in CD development.

Streptococcus thermophilus is one of the most prevalent species in stool samples of westernized populations due to continuous exposure to fermented dairy ***,few studies have explored the effect on host physiology by multiple *** strains and considered the inter-strain differences in regulating *** the present study,we investigated how four *** strains influenced the gut microbiota,mucin changes,and host metabolism after 28 days of intervention in conventional *** results indicated that the consumption of *** affected the host with strain *** four *** strains,DYNDL13-4 and DQHXNQ38M61,especially DQHXNQ38M61,had more effect on host physiology by modulating gut microbiota and host metabolism than LMD9 and *** of strains DYNDL13-4 and DQHXNQ38M61 resulted in more remarkable changes in amino acid metabolism and lipid metabolism than that of strains LMD9 and 4M6,which may be related to the elevation of intestinal Bifidobacterium by DYNDL13-4 and *** enriched Coriobacteriaceae UCG-002,Rikenellaceae RC9 gut group,and Lactobacillus only in the DQHXNQ38M61 group,had a close relationship with the prominent effect of DQHXNQ38M61 on regulating amino acid and lipid *** addition,DQHXNQ38M61 had a strong influence on degrading colonic mucin fucose by decreasedα-fucosidase activity in feces,and improving mucin sulfation by upregulated Gal3ST2 *** genomic analysis revealed that the four *** strains belonged to different branches in the phylogenetic tree,and DYNDL13-4 and DQHXNQ38M61 had more genes involved in carbohydrate metabolism,amino acid metabolism,membrane transport,and signal transduction,which may confer the capacity of nutrient utilization and gastrointestinal adaptation of the strains and be associated with their strong regulation in *** study provides valuable information for understanding the regulation of host metabolism aft

Ulcerative colitis(UC) is an inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) with chronic and recurrent characteristics caused by multiple *** the pathogenic factors have not been clarified yet,recent studies have demonstrated that intestinal microbiota plays a major role in UC,especially in the immune *** review focuses on the description of several major microbiota communities that affect UC and their interactions with the *** this review,eight kinds of microbiota that are highly related to IBD,including Faecalibacterium prausnitzii,Clostridium clusters Ⅳ and XⅣa,Bacteroides,Roseburia species,Eubacterium rectale,Escherichia coli,Fusobacterium,and Candida albicans are demonstrated on the changes in amount and roles in the onset and progression of *** addition,potential therapeutic targets for UC involved in the regulation of microbiota,including NLRPs,vitamin D receptor as well as secreted proteins,are discussed in this review.

Background:Gut microbiota play crucial roles in host *** birds and domestic poultry often occupy sympatric habitats,which facilitate the mutual transmission of intestinal ***,the distinct intestinal microbial communities between sympatric wild birds and poultry remain *** present,the risk of interspecies transmission of pathogenic bacteria between wild and domestic host birds is also a research ***:This study compared the intestinal bacterial communities of the overwintering Hooded Crane(Grus monacha)and the Domestic Goose(Anser anser domesticus)at Shengjin Lake,China,using Illumina high-throughput sequencing technology(Mi-Seq platform).Results:Our results revealed that Firmicutes,Actinobacteria,Proteobacteria,Bacteroidetes and Chloroflexi were the dominant bacterial phyla in both *** gut bacterial community composition differed significantly between sympatric Hooded Cranes and Domestic ***,the hosts exhibited little variation in gut bacterial *** relative abundance of Firmicutes was significantly higher in the guts of the Hooded Cranes,while the relative abundances of Actinobacteria,Proteobacteria,Bacteroidete and Chloroflexi were significantly higher in guts of Domestic ***,a total of 132 potential pathogenic operational taxonomic units(OTUs)were detected in guts of Hooded Cranes and Domestic Geese,and 13 pathogenic OTUs(9.8%)were found in both host *** bacterial community composition and diversity differed significantly between ***:The results showed that the gut bacterial community composition differs significantly between sympatric Hooded Cranes and Domestic *** addition,potential pathogens were detected in the guts of both Hooded Cranes and Domestic Geese,with 13 pathogenic OTUs overlapping between the two hosts,suggesting that more attention should be paid to wild birds and poultry that might increase the risk of disease transmission in conspecific

Xylooligosaccharide(XOS)has been considered to be an effective prebiotic,but its exact mechanisms remain *** research was conducted to evaluate the effects of XOS on pig intestinal bacterial community and mucosal barrier using a lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-caused gut damage ***-four weaned pigs were assigned to 4 treatments in a 2×2 factorial design involving diet(with or without XOS)and immunological challenge(saline or LPS).After 21 d of feeding 0%or 0.02%commercial XOS product,piglets were treated with saline or *** that,blood,small intestinal mucosa and cecal digesta were *** XOS enhanced intestinal mucosal integrity demonstrated by higher villus height,villus height-to-crypt depth ratio,disaccharidase activities and claudin-1 protein expression and lower crypt *** also caused down-regulation of the gene expression of toll-like receptor 4 and nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain protein signaling,accompanied with decreased pro-inflammatory cytokines and cyclooxygenase 2 contents or mRNA expression and increased heat shock protein 70 mRNA and protein ***,increased Bacteroidetes and decreased Firmicutes relative abundance were observed in the piglets fed with *** the genus level,XOS enriched the relative abundance of beneficial bacteria,e.g.,Faecalibacterium,Lactobacillus,and ***,XOS enhanced short chain fatty acids contents and inhibited histone *** correlation analysis of the combined datasets implied some potential connections between the intestinal microbiota and pro-inflammatory cytokines or cecal *** results suggest that XOS inhibits inflam-matory response and beneficially modifies microbes and metabolites of the hindgut to protect the in-testine from inflammation-related injury.
