Hemoglobin was used as a mimetic enzyme for peroxidase to catalyze the oxidative reaction of o-phenylenediamine with H2O2 which functioned as an oxidant. The relationship between physicochemical properties of the intermediate and enzymatic activity of hemoglobin was studied. Since the solubility of the intermediate in the reaction is higher in butanol phase than in water phase, the intermediate itself diffused from the aqueous phase to the butanol phase. The experimental results showed that the rate of product and the stability of intermediate were associated with the temperature and the pH value of the buffer. The formation rate of intermediate and half-life period reveal the maximal in pH7, nevertheless, the whole rate of the catalytic reaction is the greatest in pH5, which the ratio of the initial rate in final product formation compared to that intermediate formation is the greatest.

Based on the characteristics of the interactions between intermediate energy heavy-ion beam and target matter, a method to calculate the depth-dose distribution of heavy-ion beams with intermediate energy (10-100 MeV/u) is presented. By comparing high energy beams where projectile fragmentation is overwhelming with low energies where energy straggling is the sole factor instead, a crescent energy spread with increasing depth and a simple fragmentation assumption were included for the depth-dose calculation of the intermediate energy beam. Relative depth-dose curves of carbon and oxygen ion beams with intermediate energies were computed according to the method here. Comparisons between the calculated relative doses and measurements are shown. The calculated Bragg curves, especially the upstream and downstream Bragg peaks, agree with the measured data. Differences between the two results appear only around the peak regions because of the limitations of the calculation and experimental conditions, but the

Objective:This study was conducted to update the prevalence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) isolates among human clinical *** isolates recovered from Northern Palestine,to evaluate the possible presence of vancomycin-Resistant ***(VRSA) and vancomycin- intermediate resistant *** strains(VISA) and to determine the antimicrobial susceptibilities of these clinical ***:The in vitro activities of 11 antibiotics against 204 non-duplicate *** isolates from clinical samples in North of Palestine were determined by the diskdiffusion *** samples were isolated between June 2006 and December *** minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of vancomycin for 115 methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) strains was carried out using the agar dilution ***:One hundred and fifteen(56.4%) of these isolates were MRSA and according to their antibiotic profile these are multidrug resistant(resistant to three or more non-p-lactam antibiotics). Ninety nine(43.6%) isolates were methicillin sensitive ***(MSSA),forty four of MSSA isolates(44.4%) were multidrug resistant,while forty five(45.6%) were non multidrug *** results showed that the most common resistance(95.6%) was to *** strains of MRSA have shown to be vancomycin- intermediate resistant,had MIC of 4μg/rnL and 8μg/mL and these vancomycin- intermediate resistant *** strains(VISA) are resistant to all antibiotics ***:According to our information this is the first study report about VISA in Palestine.

Shot boundary detection is the fundamental part in many real applications as video retrieval and so on. This paper tackles the problem of video segment obtaining in complex movie videos. Firstly, intermediate descriptor is proposed to depict the variation of both abrupt and gradual change in shot boundaries, which is formed by distance vector on Local Binary Pattern(LBP), GIST(GIST) or their fusion. Instead of just using the adjacent frames distance, intermediate descriptor keeps the distances between current frame and consecutive frames. It comprehensively characterizes local temporal structure, which is especially important for gradual change. For the excellent ability for feature fusion in random forests, it is adopted here to verify the fusion effect of intermediate descriptor on LBP and GIST. The whole experiments are designed on the subset of TRECVid 2013 INS(INstance Search) task to verify the effectiveness of proposed intermediate descriptor and the fusion ability for random forest. Compared with static and adaptive thresholds approaches, the best performance can be achieved by post-fusion of intermediate descriptor on LBP and GIST.

Objective: To evaluate the predatory capacity of the Odonata, Hemianax ephippiger nymph as a biocontrol agent for the freshwater snail Lymnaea natalensis, intermediate host of Fasciola gigantica. Methods: Observations on the searching, attacking and devouring of the snails with a series of laboratory-based predation experiments, whose aims were to determine daily predation rate, differential predation on small-, medium- and large-sized snails were carried out. Results: Laboratory evaluation revealed that, the Odonata nymph could kill and consume all three sizes of snails. Searching and handling time of the predator differed depending on snail size and predator vulnerability. The predation rate varied also with respect to snail size and ***: Our observations suggested that the predator Hemianax ephippiger may be a suitable bio-control agent of Lymnaea natalensis snail population.
