Background Growth differentiation factor-15(GDF-15)is involved in multiple processes that are associated with coronary artery disease(CAD).However,little is known about the association between GDF-15 and the future ischemic events in patients with Intermediate CAD.This study was conducted to investigate whether plasma GDF-15 constituted risk biomarkers for future cardiovascular events in patients with Intermediate CAD.Methods A prospective study was performed based on 541 patients with Intermediate CAD(20%–70%).GDF-15 of each patient was determined in a blinded manner.The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiac event(MACE),which was defined as a composite of all-cause death,nonfatal myocardial infarction,revascularization and readmission due to angina pectoris.Results After a median follow-up of 64 months,504 patients(93.2%)completed the follow-up.Overall,the combined endpoint of MACE appeared in 134 patients(26.6%)in the overall population:26 patients died,11 patients suffered a nonfatal myocardial infarction,51 patients underwent revascularization,and 46 patients were readmitted for angina pectoris.The plasma levels of GDF-15(median:1172.02 vs.965.25 pg/m L,P=0.014)were higher in patients with ischemic events than those without events.After adjusting for traditional risk factors,higher GDF-15 levels were significantly associated with higher incidence of the composite endpoint of MACE(HR=1.244,95%CI:1.048–1.478,Quartile 4 vs.Quartile 1,P=0.013).Conclusions The higher level of GDF-15 was an independent predictor of long-term adverse cardiovascular events in patients with Intermediate CAD.

Many key cellular functions are regulated by the interplay of three distinct cytoskeletal networks, made of actin filaments,microtubules, and Intermediate filaments(IFs), which is a hitherto poorly investigated area of research. However, there are growing evidence in the last few years showing that the IFs cooperate with actin filaments to exhibit strongly coupled functions.This review recapitulates our current knowledge on how the crosstalk between IFs and actin filaments modulates the migration properties, mechano-responsiveness and signaling transduction of cells, from both biophysical and biochemical point of view.

Summary of main observation and conclusion A general and efficient protocol to synthesize substituted olefins from carbonyl compounds via nickel catalyzed C-O activation of enolates was developed.Besides ketones,aldehydes were also suitable substrates for the presented catalytic system to produce di-or tri-substituted olefins.It is worth noting that this approach exhibited good tolerance to highly reactive tertiary alcohols,which could not survive in other reported routes for converting carbonyl compounds to olefins.This method also showed good regio-and stereo-selectivity for olefin products.Preliminary mechanistic studies indicated that the reaction was accomplished through nickel catalyzed C-O activation of enolates,thus offering helpful contribution to current enol chemistry.

(NH4)3PW12O40 and(NH4)3PW12O40-H3PO4 composites have been synthesized by precipitation method.Their phase compositions,thermal stability and morphologies have been investigated.The synthesized composites maintain the same structures as pure(NH4)3PW12O40 where phosphoric acid is preserved in residual space of the"spongy crystals"of(NH4)3PW12O40.FT-IR spectra confirm the strong interactions between phosphoric acid and Keggin ions.Pristine(NH4)3PW12O40 shows poor conductivity in air at high temperatures and strongly depends on water molecules for proton transport.The composites exhibit a much higher conductivity compared with pure(NH4)3PW12O40.The highest conductivity achieved is 0.14 S/cm at 170℃where continuous channels based on phosphoric acid for proton transportation are probably established.Such high conductivity of(NH4)3PW12O40-H3PO4 composites implies promising applications in fuel cells and other electrochemical devices.

Intermediate annealing treatment produces different effects on the state of particles in Al-Mg-Si alloy sheets,thereby affecting their recrystallization textures and formability.To improve the formability of the sheets,the effects of different Intermediate annealing temperatures on the texture evolution and mechanical properties of these sheets for automotive applications were studied using optical microscope(OM),scanning electron microscope(SEM) and tensile tests.The results reveal that Intermediate annealing temperature has a significant influence on the recrystallization textures and average plastic strain ratio(r).After solution treatment,all the alloy sheets possess similar recrystallization texture components comprising of cubeND {100} and P {011} orientations,whereas a characteristic strong cube-oriented {100} texture is observed only in the alloy annealed at a temperature of 380℃.However,in comparison with the alloy not annealed,and the alloy annealed at 550℃,the alloy annealed at 380℃ possesses a lower average r value.Furthermore,the relationship between textures and r value was analyzed by using the Taylor full constraints model in this study.

Preparation and Characterization of Component Materials for Intermediate Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cell by Glycine-Nitrate Process

La1-xSrxGa1-yMgyO3-δ (LSGM) electrolyte, La1-xSrxCr1-yMnyO3-δ (LSCM) anode and La1-xSrxFe1-yMnyO3-δ (LSFM) cathode materials were all synthesized by glycine-nitrate process (GNP). The microstructure and characteristics of LSGM, LSCM and LSFM were tested via X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microcopy (SEM), A C impedance and four-probe direct current techniques. XRD shows that pure perovskite phase LSGM electrolyte and electrode (LSCM anode and LSFM cathode) materials were prepared after being sintered at 1400 ℃ for 20 h and at 1000 ℃ for 5 h, respectively. The max conductivities of LSGM (ionic conductivity), LSCM (total conductivity) and LSFM (total conductivity) materials are 0.02, 10, 16 S·cm-1 in the air below 850 ℃, respectively. The conductivity of LSCM becomes smaller when the atmosphere changes from air to pure hydrogen at the same temperature and it decreases with the temperature like metal. The porous and LSGM-based LSCM anode and LSFM cathode films were prepared by screen printing method, and the sintering temperatures for them were 1300 and 1250 ℃, respectively. LSGM and electrode (LSCM and LSFM) materials have good thermal and chemical compatibility.

An Intermediate coupled model for the tropical ocean-atmosphere system

An Intermediate ocean-atmosphere coupled model is developed to simulate and predict the tropical interannual variability. Originating from the basic physical framework of the Zebiak-Cane(ZC) model, this tropical Intermediate couple model(TICM) extends to the entire global tropics, with a surface heat flux parameterization and a surface wind bias correction added to improve model performance and inter-basin connections. The model well reproduces the variabilities in the tropical Pacific and Indian basins. The simulated El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO) shows a period of 3–4 years and an amplitude of about 2°C, similar to those observed. The variabilities in the Indian Ocean, including the Indian Ocean basin mode(IOBM) and the Indian Ocean Dipole(IOD), are also reasonably captured with a realistic relationship to the Pacific. However, the tropical Atlantic variability in the TICM has a westward bias and is overly influenced by the tropical Pacific. A 47-year hindcast experiment using the TICM for the period of 1970–2016 indicates that ENSO is the most predictable mode in the tropics. Skillful predictions of ENSO can be made one year ahead, similar to the skill of the latest version of the ZC model, while a "spring predictability barrier" still exists as in other models. In the tropical Indian Ocean, the predictability seems much higher in the west than in the east. The correlation skill of IOD prediction reaches 0.5 at a 5-month lead, which is comparable to that of the state-of-the-art coupled general circulation models. The prediction of IOD shows a significant "winter-spring predictability barrier", implying combined influences from the tropical Pacific and the local sea-air interaction in the eastern Indian Ocean. The TICM has little predictive skill in the equatorial Atlantic for lead times longer than 3 months, which is a common problem of current climate models badly in need of further investigation.

Thick GaN layer deposited by hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE) on a metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) GaN template with a thin low temperature (LT) AlN Intermediate layer was investigated. High resolution X-ray resolution diffraction (HRXRD) shows that the crystalline quality of thick GaN layer was improved compared with the template. As confirmed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) observations, the surface morphology of AlN Intermediate layer helps to improve the nucleation of GaN epilayer. Photoluminescence (PL) spectra measurement shows its high optical quality and low compressive stress, and micro Raman measurement confirms the latter result. Thus, the deposition of the LT-AlN interlayer has promoted the growth of an HVPE-GaN layer with an excellent crystalline quality.

Anopheles stephensi is the main vector of urban malaria in South Asia. Three ecological variants （‘type’, ‘mysorensis’ and ‘Intermediate’） of An. stephensi have been reported on the basis of ecology and egg morphology. However, it is unclear if there is any genetic isolation between the three variants. We analyzed the three variants of An. stephensi using eight microsatellite loci and found that large and significant genetic differentiation exists between them （mean FST = 0.393 and mean RST = 0.422）. Pairwise estimates of genetic differentiation between the variants were ‘type’ versus ‘mysorensis’ （mean FsT = 0.411 and mean RST = 0.308）, ‘type’ versus‘Intermediate’ （mean FsT = 0.388 and mean RST = 0.518） and ‘Intermediate’versus ＇mysorensis＇（mean FST = 0.387 and mean RST = 0.398） and all were statistically significant （P 〈 0.05）. The greater sensitivity of RST in differentiation indicated that mutations and not genetic drift had generated the differences between three variants of An. stephensi. The present study indicated large genetic differentiation and presence of non-significant low level ofgene flow between the three variants （‘type’,‘ mysorensis’ and ‘Intermediate’） of An. stephensi.
