A periodic inspection policy for a single component system based on a three-stage failure process is proposed, and two different kinds of failures covering "hard" and "human" are considered in the proposed *** system is periodically inspected and inspections are perfect so that they can identify the intended *** the severe defect is detected by an inspection, an immediate repair is needed. However, once the system is identified to be in the minor defective state, there are two options. The first is to do nothing till the arrival of identifying the severe defect or hard failure, and the second is to repair immediately. Repair for any defect can renew the system with a limited probability such that the system may fail after repair due to human errors, which is common in many industrial applications. Two models are constructed by minimizing the expected cost per unit time and compared. We provide a numerical example to demonstrate the proposed model.

Availability is a main feature of design and operation of all engineering system. Recently,availability evaluation of periodical inspection systems with different structures is at the center of attention due to the wide application in engineering. In this paper, an analytical and probabilistic availability model for periodical inspection system is proposed by a new recursively algorithm,which can achieve limiting average availability and instantaneous availability of periodical inspection system under arbitrary lifetime and repair-time distributions. Then three application examples are presented, the systems lifetime and repair-time are respectively fellow exponential/exponential,Weibull/normal and Weibull/lognormal distribution. Finally, a Weibull/lognormal system is studied to analyze the dynamic relationship between inspection period and availability. The results indicate that the proposed approach can provide the technology support for improving system availability and determining reasonable inspection period.

In recent years,there are many crimes related drug fraud occuring in China and many experts think that the main cause is that China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA)adopts announced inspection (AI).In order to circumvent this difficulty,CFDA has exploited unannounced inspection (UI)since *** this paper,the authors study the problem of which one performs better, AI or ***,the authors consider a supervisor,which decides the inspection approach,inspection strength and punishment to force the firm to put self-inspection effort to meet the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice,and a firm,which produces a drug and decides its self-inspection effort. The authors use game theory to model this problem,characterize the equilibrium policies under AI, and compare the effects of the two approaches on preventing drug fraud under complete and incomplete *** results show that under the complete information,UI performs better if the firm's technical level and the inspection cost are low and AI performs better *** the supervisor doesn't know the firm's technical level,if the low technical level is high,AI performs ***, UI performs better if the inspection cost is low and AI performs better if the inspection cost is high.

Since the carbon neutrality target was proposed,many countries have been facing severe challenges to carbon emission reduction *** study is conducted using a tripartite evolutionary game model to explore the impact of the central environmental protection inspection(CEPI)on driving carbon emission reduction,and to study what factors influence the strategic choices of each party and how they interact with each *** research results suggest that local governments and manufacturing enterprises would choose strategies that are beneficial to carbon reduction when CEPI *** the initial willingness of all parties increases 20%,50%—80%,the time spent for the whole system to achieve stability decreases from 100%,60%—30%.The evolutionary result of“thorough inspection,regulation implementation,low-carbon management”is the best strategy for the tripartite evolutionary ***,the smaller the cost and the larger the benefit,the greater the likelihood of the three-party game stability strategy *** study has important guiding significance for other developing countries to promote carbon emission reduction by environmental policy.

Investigation of the factors affecting the limit of detection of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy for surface inspection

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) was examined to detect a trace substance adhered onto Al alloys for the surface inspection of materials to be adhesively bonded. As an example of Si contamination, silicone oil was employed and sprayed onto substrates with a controlled surface concentration. LIBS measurements employing nanosecond UV pulses(λ?=?266 nm) and an off-axis emission collection system with different detecting heights were performed. Because surface contaminants are involved in the plasma formed by laser ablation of the substrates, the relative contribution of the surface contaminants and the substrates to the plasma emission could be changed depending on the conditions for plasma formation. The limit of detection(LOD) was evaluated under several detecting conditions for investigating the factors that affected the LOD. A significant factor was the standard deviation values of signal intensities obtained for the clean substrates. This value varied depending on the measurement *** the Al alloy(A6061), the smallest LOD obtained was 0.529 μg?·?cm^(-2). Furthermore, an improved LOD(0.299 μg?·?cm^(-2)) was obtained for the Al alloy with a lower Si content.

Oil and gas pipeline networks are a key link in the coordinated development of oil and gas both upstream and *** improve the reliability and safety of the oil and gas pipeline network, inspections are implemented to minimize the risk of leakage, spill and theft, as well as documenting actual incidents. In recent years, unmanned aerial vehicles have been recognized as a promising option for inspection due to their high efficiency. However, the integrated optimization of unmanned aerial vehicle inspection for oil and gas pipeline networks, including physical feasibility, the performance of mission, cooperation, real-time implementation and three-dimensional(3-D) space, is a strategic problem due to its large-scale,complexity as well as the need for efficiency. In this work, a novel mixed-integer nonlinear programming model is proposed that takes into account the constraints of the mission scenario and the safety performance of unmanned aerial vehicles. To minimize the total length of the inspection path, the model is solved by a two-stage solution method. Finally, a virtual pipeline network and a practical pipeline network are set as two examples to demonstrate the performance of the optimization schemes. Moreover, compared with the traditional genetic algorithm and simulated annealing algorithm, the self-adaptive genetic simulated annealing algorithm proposed in this paper provides strong stability.
