Understanding information seeking behavior of rural women:Field studies in China

Based on the bibliometric and visualization methods, this paper related to information behavior research analyzes 2093 journal papers included in CNKI and WOS in the field of information behavior research, from 2010 to *** hot domains, research fronts and the knowledge base are investigated respectively by means of knowledge mapping generated by visualization software. Conclusions at home and abroad for the past ten years are as flows. Firstly, investigations reveal that user demand, technology, network, retrieval, and medical health information have been the five research hot domains in IBR. Secondly, investigations reveal that medicine, informatics, virtual community of network, semantic information retrieval have been research fronts in IBR. Thirdly, the knowledge base collection of information behavior for the past ten years includes high yield author and representative works which have a significant impact.

Purpose:The purpose of this research is to investigate Chinese rural women’s information needs and information seeking behavior,with an emphasis on exploration of the intervening variables that influence information needs and information seeking ***/methodology/approach:The sample consisted of 27 women from 9 villages in Gansu Province,Anhui Province and Tianjin City,*** were collected through in-depth individual *** quantitative and qualitative methods were employed to analyze the ***:Chinese rural women’s needs are basically tied to agricultural technologies,employment and health *** network,rather than the Internet,serves as the most frequently used information ***’s cognitive ability,social role and their living environment are the 3 intervening variables that have an impact on their information needs and their information seeking *** limitations:This qualitative research is based on a small sample and conducted on specific socio-economic settings in China,which may restrict the generalization and application of relevant findings in other settings and *** implications:The study results will help librarians and information professionals better understand Chinese rural women’s information needs and information seeking behavior in an effort to find ways to solve problems they may encounter in their information seeking ***/value:This paper introduced an analysis framework that provides an integrated perspective on understanding information needs and information seeking behavior of Chinese women in rural areas.

This paper reports an investigation on everyday life information seeking behavior of urban low-income group in the Haizhu District of Guangzhou City. Empirical data were collected via in-depth interviews with low-income urban residents and were analyzed using qualitative methods. This paper discusses the research findings based on the more noticeable results of information seeking behavior among these people. Our approach touches on a focused study of such issues as what the role of information seeking in their everyday life is, what information they care about, which information channels they prefer to use, which factors influence their information seeking behavior, how difficult it is to seek the information they need, and how they use public libraries. Based on our research findings, we propose that public libraries should provide customized information services for urban low-income residents according to the unique characteristics of their information seeking behavior in everyday life.

在中国式现代化建设要求的背景下，情报事业进入了新的发展阶段。情报赋能理念的提出，不仅为情报学术探索注入了新的动力，也为信息行为研究开辟了新的空间。本文运用情报赋能理念，审视信息行为研究中积累的成果，分析通过信息行为研究实现情报赋能的可行性，探讨利用信息行为研究的成果增强情报工作中的线索发现、分析研究和决策保障的效能，进而提升情报用户的决策能力以达到赋能目标；同时，在情报赋能的关切下，拓展信息行为研究成果的应用范围，为信息行为研究的未来探索新的途径。

Exploring the measurement features of usage data for academic literature

The emergence of new data has always been a major force driving the advance of informetrics. The magnitude of data usage for academic literature, given by the Web of Science(Wo S), can be expected to provide a supplementary perspective for citation analysis in three theoretical aspects, which are influence dimension, discipline difference and behavioral motive. Based on 166,767 articles in physics, computer science, economics, and Library and information Science included by SCI and SSCI in 2013 as research samples, this paper conducts an exploratory investigation into the measurement features of the usage data. According to the results, compared with citation data, usage is more discriminative and sensitive. In terms of distribution, usage presents an approximate and positively skewed distribution at high-frequency. An approximate power-law distribution is observed in the cumulative integral. The evaluation result of usage is independent to a certain degree and poses no essential opposition to the result of citation. Although the usage of the Wo S platform still has the limitations of generality, falsifiability and isolation, usage may be accepted as one of the possible options that supplement citation data and provide a richer field of vision for influence evaluation. There are 4 figures, 6 tables and 23 references in this paper.

按照“理论基础、行为特征和应用改进”的研究框架，对国外图书情报学领域跨学科信息行为的研究进行综述。本文将“信息分散下的信息行为”作为该领域跨学科信息行为研究的主要研究对象和理论基础；从信息分散理论和文献计量学对信息分散的证明两方面说明信息分散理论的研究情况；从弱信息理论和行为、跨学科信息行为模型和信息偶遇三方面说明跨学科信息行为的研究情况。将跨学科信息行为的特征总结为：依赖人际渠道的信息获取；以知识融合和创造为目标的研究合作和知识构建；具有群体差异性，人文社会科学跨学科研究特性明显。从改进信息服务以及改进信息检索和信息系统两方面整理跨学科信息行为的应用研究。

[目的/意义]了解新时代用户信息需求和信息行为特征，对促进信息资源保障工作高质量发展与重构保障体系具有重要意义。[方法/过程]通过梳理已有研究，利用问卷调查法、综合分析法对新时代用户信息需求和信息行为进行调查和分析。[结果/结论]研究发现，新时代用户信息需求和信息行为表现出更注重信息内容质量、更倾向于使用电子资源等特征。与此同时，信息噪音严重、知识付费争议、信息素养较低等问题也日益凸显。研究认为，用户信息需求和信息行为特征的变化是社会逻辑、技术逻辑和市场逻辑共同作用的结果。贯彻以用户为中心的资源保障观是第一要务，满足用户信息需求、保障用户信息自由、平等获取更应成为保障工作的重点与基本目标；注重技术应用是服务提升的主要手段，体现人文关怀、效率、数量与质量齐头并进更应成为服务发展的底线和追求；保护和传承人类文化遗产是保障体系必须承担的历史使命，提升公民信息素养、推动创新型国家建设和社会文明整体进步更应成为保障体系建设的当务之急。

信息行为是图书情报学科的研究热点之一，随着人们对健康信息的日益关注，健康信息行为研究也已经发展成为具有成熟话语体系和价值认同的交叉研究领域。本文通过对国内外健康信息行为研究文献的梳理，追本溯源，理清“医学信息学—健康信息学—消费者健康信息学—健康信息行为研究”的发展脉络；通过对该领域研究主题的归纳，界定了健康信息行为研究的范畴，指出健康信息行为研究重点聚焦于健康信息发现、健康信息采纳、健康信息评价和健康信息共享四个主题；通过对健康信息行为研究范式的总结，论述了该领域研究的共同价值与实践规范；结合研究实践，提出未来健康信息行为研究的发展趋势，为该领域进一步开展研究提供理论参考。
