individualized college English teaching is an important practice for colleges and universities to carry out college English teaching *** from the analysis of the connotation of individualized college English teaching,this paper summarizes the significant characteristics of individualized college English teaching,and puts forward the idea of constructing an individualized college English teaching mode,in the hope that provides some reference for the comprehensive implementation of the current college English teaching reform.

The demand for individualized teaching from E-learning websites is rapidly increasing due to the huge differences existed among Web learners. A method for clustering Web learners based on rough set is proposed. The basic idea of the method is to reduce the learning attributes prior to clustering, and therefore the clustering of Web learners is carried out in a relative low-dimensional space. Using this method, the E-learning websites can arrange corresponding teaching content for different clusters of learners so that the learners’ individual requirements can be more satisfied. 当代“因材施教”的发展呈现出具有科学化、人性化、系统化和复杂化特征的多元取向态势，而每一种取向背后都隐藏着典型的思维方式，存在着自身独特的理论逻辑。从生成论教学哲学的立场考察，分属不同思维范式的“因材施教”，其间既有着不同的价值意蕴又有着现实的内在关联，因而亟须在教学生成和人的文化生成的意义上，通过辩证批判和整体现照，展开认识与实践的现实整合。

Study on college English elective courses

College English Curriculum Requirements poses a great challenge for college English teaching. One way to deal with the status quo is to offer selective courses to non-English majors. This article gives an early probe into the rationale on a new course-designing practice as well as a detailed introduction to an illustrative course. As proved, the attempt to practice selective courses is feasible and effective for individualized teaching and integrated language competence cultivation.
