Principles of inexpensive biotechnology are being increasingly used to address the problems posed by the use of lithium-sulfur *** used chitin,a low-cost marine biowaste product,as a precursor for the in-situ preparation of chitin-derived nitrogendoped hierarchical porous carbon fibers(CNHPCFs)containing abundant *** materials are characterized by varying morphologies and high specific surface areas and present a hierarchical porous *** adsorb polysulfides,exhibit good ionic conductivity,and can be potentially used to generate green *** properties help address the problems of volume expansion and slow *** CNHPCF-1@S cathode exhibits excellent cycling performance and high capacity(1368.80 mAh·g^(−1)at 0.2 C;decay rate:0.011%per turn at 5 C).The high electrochemical reversibility recorded for CNHPCF-1@S and the stepwise reaction mechanism followed were studied using the in-situ X-ray diffraction and in-situ raman spectroscopy *** results reported herein can potentially help develop new ideas for the recycling and treatment of marine *** results can also provide a platform to improve the application prospects of lithium-sulfur batteries.

Manipulating the oxidation state of Cu catalysts can significantly affect the selectivity and activity of electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction(CO_(2)RR).However,the thermodynamically favorable cathodic reduction to metallic states typically leads to catalytic ***,a defect construction strategy is employed to prepare crystalline/amorphous Cu_(2+1)O/CuO_(x)heterostructures(c/a-CuO_(x))with abundant Cu0 and Cuδ+(0in-situ raman spectroscopy confirms the stability of Cuδ+species under long-term high current density *** functional theory(DFT)calculations further reveal that the adjacent Cu0 and Cuδ+sites in heterostructured c/a-CuO_(x)can efficiently reduce the energy barrier of CO coupling for C^(2+)products.

Rechargeable aqueous magnesium-ion batteries(MIBs)show great promise for low-cost,high-safety,and high-performance energy storage *** manganese dioxide(MnO_(2))is considered as a potential electrode material for aqueous MIBs,the low electrical conductivity and unsatisfactory cycling performance greatly hinder the practical application of MnO_(2)*** overcome these problems,herein,a novel Mg-intercalation engineering approach for MnO_(2)electrode to be used in aqueous MIBs is presented,wherein the structural regulation and electrochemical performance of the Mg-intercalation MnO_(2)(denoted as MMO)electrode were thoroughly investigated by density functional theory(DFT)calculations and in-situ raman *** results demonstrate that the Mg intercalation is essential to adjusting the charge/ion state and electronic band gap of MMO electrode,as well as the highly reversible phase transition of the MMO electrode during the charging-discharging *** of these remarkable characteristics,the MMO electrode can be capable of delivering a significant specific capacity of~419.8 mAh·g^(−1),while exhibiting a good cycling capability over 1000 cycles in 1 M aqueous MgCl_(2) *** the basis of such MMO electrode,we have successfully developed a soft-packaging aqueous MIB with excellent electrochemical properties,revealing its huge application potential as the efficient energy storage devices.

Nickel-iron sulfide has shown attractive activity in electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction(OER).However,the effects of low valence sulfur(S^(2−))and metal species on OER in binary nickel-iron sulfide have rarely been systematically *** based on post-catalysis characterization have led to the assumption that the real active species are nickel-iron oxyhydroxide,and that nickel-iron sulfide acts only as a ***,to study the role of S,Ni,and Fe for the development of nickel-iron sulfide catalyst is of self-evident ***,a facile solvothermal method is used to synthesize acetylene black coated with nickel-iron sulfide *** tests show that the presence of low valence S species makes the catalyst have faster OER kinetics,larger active area,and intermediate active species adsorption ***,the present study reveals the enhancing effect of low valence sulfur species(S^(2−))on OER in binary nickel-iron *** situ raman spectroscopy shows that the generation ofγ-NiOOH intermediate is essential and Fe does not directly participate in the oxygen *** functional theory(DFT)calculation shows that Ni-OH deprotonation is a rate-determining step for both binary nickel-iron sulfide and nickel *** addition of Fe into NiSx lightly increases the charge transfer of Ni atom to O atom,which makes deprotonation easier and thereby improves the OER performance.

In this study,the interaction between primary amine and diketones was *** diketones with a general structure of—(CH2C(O)CH2C(O))-X-R(X is C,O or N and R is H and/or alkyl groups)were selected to react with primary amine in aqueous *** reaction was in-situ monitored by raman technique and the reaction products were identified by FTIR,NMR and *** is found that the reaction products strongly depend on the structures of *** X is nitrogen,the expected Schiff base or its analog can be ***,Schiff base or its analog is not detected if X is C or O,instead,ion pairs or hydrolysis products are formed accordingly,suggesting critical impacts of acidity of CH2 inβ-diketone on the product *** study also shows that in-situ raman is a powerful technique for reaction monitoring and structure characterization,which is useful for mechanism understanding.

Developing an understanding of the physics underlying vibrational phonon modes,which are strongly related to thermal transport,has attracted significant research ***,we report the successful synthesis of bulk SbCrSe_(3)single crystal and its thermal transport property over the temperature range from 2 to 300 *** angle-resolved polarized raman spectroscopy(ARPRS)and group theory calculation,the vibrational symmetry of each observed raman mode in the cleaved(001)crystal plane of SbCrSe_(3)is identified for the first time,and then further verified through firstprinciples *** ARPRS results of some raman modes(e.g.,Ag2~64 cm-1 and Ag 7~185 cm-1)can be adopted to determine the crystalline *** importantly,the temperature dependence of the lattice thermal conductivity(κL)is revealed to be more accurately depicted by the three-phonon scattering processes throughout the measured temperature range,substantiated by in-situ raman spectroscopy analysis and the model-predictedκ*** results reveal the fundamental physics of thermal transport for SbCrSe_(3)from a completely new perspective and should thus ignite research interest in the thermal properties of other lowdimensional materials using the same strategy.

Two-dimensional(2D) molybdenum disulfide(MoS2 ) holds significant promise as an energy storage material, whereas the exfoliation of MoS2 into few-layer from natural molybdenites remains a challenge. An efficient electrochemical strategy was proposed for the preparation of fewlayer MoS2 through cationic intercalation. Few-layer MoS2 without the impurity phases was obtained with high yield through raman mapping analysis, and the intermediate(TBA+)xMoS2x- was captured by in-situ raman. Note that the charge transport kinetics of the exfoliated few-layer MoS2 was further enhanced by the introduction of graphene, which could efficiently enhance the Na+diffusion mobility, alleviate the volume change of MoS2 and stabilize the reaction products. Commendably, the exfoliated MoS2 /graphene hybrid shows a reversible specific capacity of 642.8 mA h g-1 at 0.1 A g-1, superior rate performance(447.8 and 361.9 mA h g-1 at 1 and 5 A g-1, respectively) and remarkable long-cycle stability with 328.7 mA h g-1 at 1 A g-1 after 1000 cycles for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs). Therefore, this efficient electrochemical exfoliation method can be driven to prepare other few-layer 2D materials for SIBs.
