The contamination of antibiotics in aqueous environment causes increasing concerns recently.Lightassisted activation of peroxydisulfate(PDS)has been demonstrated as an efficient technology for re moval of contamination in water.Herein,a hollow sphere of CuWO_(4)(h-CuWO_(4))was employed as a visible lightactivated photocatalyst for the activation of PDS,and following with high removal efficiency(98%)of antibiotic sulfamethoxazole(SMX).Under visible light irradiation,the degradation rate on hollow structures system is nearly 2 times higher than the traditional solid CuWO_(4) spheres.Furthermore,the underlying mechanism and detailed pathway of SMX degradation were proposed based on density functional theory(DFT)calculations and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS).This work provides a new feasible way for advanced oxidation processes to remove antibiotics SMX in heterogeneous system,and open up new application possibilities of CuWO_(4)-based materials.

Nanocrystalline MoS2 with hollow spherical morphology has been prepared by the hydrothermal method. The products are characterized by means of X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The experimental results give the evidence that the sample is consists of hollow spheres 400~600 nm in diameter, and there is much whisker on the surface of MoS2 hollow sphere.

The triple-shelled hollow spheres with optical properties were prepared via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization.After removal the core templates of the poly(styrene),the hollow silica spheres were obtained.The coating process of poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) on the hollow silica spheres surface via surface RAFT polymerization was performed subsequently.The polymers coated on the hollow spheres surfaces were end-functionalized by trithiocarbonate,and they were used as RAFT agent to proceed the chain extension polymerization using Tb complex as monomer.The samples were characterized by FT-IR,SEM and luminescence spectroscopy respectively.The results indicated that the triple-shelled hollow spheres had been prepared successfully and the average diameter of the hollow core was about 1μm.

A solvothermal method has been successfully used to prepare nanostructured hydroxyapatite （HA） hollow spheres with average diameters of about 500 nm and shell thicknesses of about 100 nm in a glycerin/water mixed solvent. Transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and field-emission scanning electron microscopy （FESEM） images show that the shells of the HA hollow spheres are actually composed of nanosheets with thicknesses of about 10 nm. By tuning the glycerin/water volume ratio, two other kinds of HA solid spheres with average diameters of about 6 or 20 pm were assembled from nanoflakes. The properties of the different kinds of spheres as drug delivery carriers were evaluated. Ibuprofen （IBU） was chosen as the model drug to load into the HA samples. The nanostructured HA samples showed a slow and sustained release of IBU. The HA hollow spheres exhibited a higher drug loading capacity and more favorable release properties than the HA solid spheres and thus are very promising for controlled drug release applications.

Novel hollow ZnxCdl xS spheres that are uniform in size are synthesized through the one-step thermal evaporation of a mixture of Zn and CdS powder. From an X-ray diffraction （XRD） study, the hexagonal wurtzite phase of ZnxCdl_xS is verified, and the Zn mole fraction （x） is determined to be 0.09. According to the experimental results, we propose a mechanism for the growth of Zn0.09Cd0.91S hollow spheres. The results of the cathodoluminescence investigation indicate uniform Zn, Cd, and S distribution of alloyed Zn0.09Cd0.91S, instead of separate CdS, ZnS, or nanocrystals of a core- shell structure. To the best of our knowledge, the fabrication of ZnxCd1-xS hollow spheres of this kind by one-step thermal evaporation has never been reported. This work would present a new method of growing and applying hollow spheres on Si substrates, and the discovery of the Zn0.09Cd0.91S hollow spheres would make the investigation of ZnxCd1-xS micro/nanostructures more interesting and intriguing.

A simple method was developed to prepare the uniform hematite hollow submicro-spheres with controllable structure and different diameter based on monodisperse poly（styrene-co-acrylic acid） [P（St-co-AA）] particles. The structure and formation mechanism of the hollow spheres were investigated in detail. The control mechanism of shell thickness was also discussed. The results indicated that the shell thickness and coarseness of the synthesized core-shell hematite hollow spheres could be tuned simply by the surface carboxyl content of the P（St-co-AA） particles. This method provided a new approach for the structure control in the preparation of hollow spheres. A Brunauer-Emmett-Teller （BET） test shows that the prepared hollow spheres have large surface areas which were decreased along with the increase of the diameter. The magnetic properties of the as-obtained hematite hollow spheres were investigated. The result showed that the coercivity and saturated magnetization were increased along with the increase of the shell thickness, and the remanent magnetization was increased along with the decrease of the diameter.

The synthesis of multimodal hierarchically porous materials is of great challenge by facile approach.Herein,we assemble BPO_(4) hollow spheres into macroscopic foam materials with multimodal hierarchically porous structure by combining down-to-up process and Ostwald ripening effect.Tailored monolithic B_(2)O_(3)@BPO_(4) foams were obtained from a sticky hydrogel precursor by a one-step annealing process.The foam has the self-supporting frame of BPO_(4) hollow spheres with covering B_(2)O_(3) nanowires and shows excellent permeability and relatively high surface area due to hierarchical structure.The formation mechanism of monolithic B_(2)O_(3)@BPO_(4) foams mainly undergoes inflation,particle aggregation,and Ostwald ripening process.Monolithic foams exhibit superior catalytic activity in oxidation dehydrogenation of alkanes due to the sufficient exposure of active sites over the special frame structure.Furthermore,various monolithic functionalized BPO_(4) foam composites can be easily synthesized and exhibit superior performance in different applications including the oxidation of carbon monoxide,and the self-driven removal of organic pollutants.More interestingly,we also found the sticky hydrogel precursor possesses good heat shielding effect.This work provides a new insight for constructing multimodal hierarchically porous materials with the remaining superior property of nanoscale to cope with various challenges.

Preparation of hollow ZrB_2 spheres by a Combined Sol-gel and Boro/carbothermal Reduction Method

Carbon microspheres were firstly prepared using glucose （C6H12O6 ） as the starting materials by hydrotherreal carbonization. Then hollow ZrB2 spheres were successfully synthesized using zirconium oxychloride （ ZrClO2 · 8H2O）, boric acid （ H3BO3 ） by a combined solgel and boro/carbothermal reduction method, and the prepared carbon microspheres as the template. The effects of the reaction temperatures （1 200, 1 300, 1 400 and 1 500 ℃, respectively） and contents of carbon microspheres （ n （ C ）： n （ ZrO2 ＋ B2O3） is 5. 0, 5. 5, 6. 0 and 6. 5, respectively） on the synthesis of hollow ZrB2 spheres were studied. The prepared carbon microspheres have smooth sugrace and good hollow structure by hydrothermal nitridation. Increase of reaction temperature and excessive carbon microspheres can greatly promote the formation of hollow ZrB2 spheres. The optimized reaction temperature and molar ratio of n （C）/ n （ ZrO2 ＋ B2O3 ） were 1 500 ℃ and 6.5, respectively.

A new nanocomposite of hollow covalent organic framework(COF)conjugated with the apatinib(AP)and loading microwave-sensitizer(ionic liquid,IL)was prepared by layer by layer(LBL)method and hyaluronic acid(HA)coating,named as COF-AP-IL@HA.AP loading rate in COF hollow-spheres(~30 nm shell thickness)was~40.3%,due to the interactions of hydrogen andπ-πbonds between AP and COF shell,and acidic environment destroyed COF structure,promoting AP release.Microwave sensitization of loaded IL in COF hollow-spheres could enhance the microwave heat-effect,and combined AP therapeutic ability,leading to their higher inhibitation on tumor,due to targeting ability of HA and the local release of apatinib.88.9%of inhibition rate of COF-AP-IL@HA under microwave on the in vivo tumor was significantly higher than those without microwave(12.3%)and COF-IL@HA with microwave(37.5%),indicating a synergism of sensitized microwave hyperthermia and AP therapy on the reduced expression of VEGF via the downregulation pathway of hypoxia inducible factor.These results indicated that COF-AP-IL@HA was potential to the application in the combination therapy of tumor of the sensitized microwave hyperthermia and apatinib.
