Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional gut disorder with high *** of various factors involved in its pathophysiology and disappointing results from conventional IBS medications,the treatment of IBS is challenging and use of complementary and alternative medicines especially herbal therapies is *** this paper,electronic databases including PubMed,Scopus,and Cochrane library were searched to obtain any in vitro,in vivo or human studies evaluating single or compound herbal preparations in the management of *** in vitro,3 in vivo and 23 human studies were included and systematically *** majority of studies are about essential oil of Menta piperita as a single preparation and STW 5 as a compound *** evaluated herbs such as Curcuma xanthorriza and Fumaria officinalis did not demonstrate any benefits in ***,it seems there are many other herbal preparations such as those proposed in traditional medicine of different countries that could be studied and investigated for their efficacy in management of IBS.

As coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic poses a substantial global public health threat,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)was used in 91.50%of the COVID-19 cases in China,showing encouraging results in improving symptom management and reducing the deterioration,mortality,and recurrence rates.A total of 166 modified herbal formulae consisting of 179 single herbal medicines were collected for treating COVID-19 in *** Radix et Rhizome,Scutellariae Radix,and Armeniacae Semen Amarum are the most frequently utilized in clinics,most of which are antipyretic(47,26.26%),expectorant and cough-suppressing(22,12.29%),and dampness-resolving(21,11.73%)from traditional descriptions.A total of 1212 chemical components containingβ-sitosterol,stigmasterol,and quercetin were primarily ***,using complex system entropy and unsupervised hierarchical clustering,8 core herbal combinations and 10 new formulae emerged as potentially useful candidates for ***,following scaffold analysis,self-organizing mapping(SOM)and cluster analysis,12 clusters of molecules yielded 8 pharmacophore families of structures that were further screened as pharmacological targets in human metabolic pathways for inhibiting *** article aims to make more easily accessible and share historical herbal knowledge used in contemporary treatments in a modern manner to assist researchers contain the global spread of COVID-19.

A simple, rapid and accurate capillary zone electrophoresis method was developed for the determination of chlorogenic acid as a marker in traditional Chinese medicines. The buffer solution comprised of 10 mmol/L sodium phosphate and 20 mmol/L boric acid containing 5% ethanol with the pH value adjusted to 7.00. The contents of chlorogenic acid in Flos Lonicerae and Flos Lonicerae containing herbal preparations were determined within 15 min.

The current official quality control approaches meet the challenges from the complexity of herbal *** fact,any herbal medicines containing numerous unknown components,its curative effect usually depends on the whole of herbal medicines,so it is impossible and unnecessary to qualitatively and quantitatively study every *** investigating the limitations of current quality control approaches for herbal medicines and the difference and similarity in the chemical substantial style as well as quality control pattern of herbal medicines,a new quality control approach for Chinese herbal medicines should be explored and *** combination approach of chemical analysis with bioassay is promising to be developed and employed in order to ensure the safety and efficacy of Chinese herbal medicines.

Effects of Traditional Chinese herbal medicines on Blood Ions and Enzymes of Egg-laying Hens Under Heat Stress

[Objective] This study was conducted to investigate the effects of tradi- tional Chinese herbal medicines on blood biochemical indices of egg-laying hens under heat stress and to provide theoretical basis for clinical application of the medicines. [Method] One hundred of 88-day-old ISA-Brown hens were randomly di- vided into five groups. The hens in four groups were administrated with Prescription I herbal medicines, Prescription II herbal medicines, Vc and blank control under ar- tificially simulated heat stress, respectively. The last group was raised under normal temperature condition. Blood samples of the hens were collected on 1, 4, 8 and 10 d later and detected for their biochemical indices. [Result] The blood sodium （Na）, phosphorus （P）, potassium （K） and chlorine （CI） concentrations in hens under heat stress were decreased, while the activities of alanine aminotransferase （ALT）, lactate dehydrogenase （LDH） and creatine kinase （CK） were increased. These indices grad- ually returned to normal levels after the use of traditional Chinese herbal medicines. [Conclusion] The herbal medicines can relieve the adverse effects caused by heat stress to blood biochemical indices via different metabolic pathways of ions and en- zymes.

Chemical fingerprinting of Su-He-Xiang-Wan and attribution of major characteristic peaks for its quality control by GC-MS

A simple and facile gas chromatography-mass spectrometer （GC-MS） fingerprint of Su-He-Xiang-Wan （SHXW） was developed, the similarity analysis was conducted, and attribution of the major characteristic peaks was identified for SHXW quality control. GC-MS analysis was performed on a QP2010 instrument （Shimadzu, Japan） equipped with a capillary column of RTX-5MS. The column temperature was initiated at 50℃, held for 5 min, increased at the rate of 3 ℃/min to 120 ℃, held for 2 min, and then increased at the rate of 4 ℃/min to 220℃, held for 10 min. Helium carrier gas was used at a constant flow rate of 1.3 mL/min. Mass conditions were ionization voltage, 70 eV; injector temperature, 250℃; ion source temperature, 250 ℃; splitting ratio, 30：1; full scan mode in the 40-500 Da mass ranges with rate of 0.2 s per scan. Attribution of the major characteristic peaks was identified for SHXW by comparing the chemical standards, references of Chinese herbal medicines and the negative controls of prescription samples （NC） of SHXW. With the help of the temperature-programmed retention indices （PTRIs） used together with mass spectra and chemical standards, 25 major characteristic peaks have been identified. Nine volatile medicinal materials were identified in the prescription of SHXW by attributing to the 27 major characteristic peaks. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is a powerful approach to quality control of complex herbal medicines.

Objective:To gather the fragmented literature on ethnobotany,phytochemistry and in-vitro activities of medicinal plants of Pakistan being used against common infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus(***).Methods:A large number of published and unpublished research studies related to the ethnomedicinal,phytochemical and *** activity of medicinal flora of Pakistan published from 1990-2018 were reviewed using online bibliographic databases such as PubMed,Web of Science,Science Direct,ResearchGate and ***:*** can cause many human ailments including endocarditis,staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome,septic arthritis,respiratory problems with an estimated infection rate of 25%-35%across the *** review comprised of 86 medicinal *** showed that people mostly used leaves(50%)for the preparation of traditional *** analysis on the reviewed data revealed that methanolic extract concentrations of medicinal plants was highly significantly positive correlated(r=0.8;P<0.01)with the *** zone of *** reportedly showed complete resistant to the commonly used antibiotic *** compounds like altheahexacosanyl lactone,cinnamaldehyde,niloticane,gobicusin A,asparacosin A,muzanzagenin,isoagatharesinol,friedelin,inophynone and eugenol were active against *** study provided in-vitro proof for the flora of Pakistan used against different infections caused by ***:Antibacterial agents from natural sources could be more effective against bacterial pathogens and will be helpful in minimizing the adverse effects of synthetic drugs,and hence provides a base for the pharmaceutical industries.
