A genetic algorithm （GA） was studied to simultaneously determine the thermal transport properties and the contact resistance of thin films deposited on a thick substrate. A pulsed photothermal reflectance （PPR） system was employed for the measurements. The GA was used to extract the thermal properties. Measurements were performed on SiO2 thin films of different thicknesses on silicon substrate. The results show that the GA accompanied with the PPR system is useful for the simultaneous determination of thermal properties of thin films on a substrate.

This paper proposes a redundancy optimization method for smart grid Advanced Metering Infrastructure(AMI) to realize economy and reliability *** is a crucial part of the smart grid to measure,collect,and analyze data about energy usage and power quality from customer *** the communication perspective,the AMI consists of smart meters,Home Area Network(HAN) gateways and data concentrators;in particular,the redundancy optimization problem focus on deciding which data concentrator needs *** order to solve the problem,we first develop a quantitative analysis model for the network economic loss caused by the data concentrator ***,we establish a complete redundancy optimization model,which comprehensively consider the factors of reliability and ***,an advanced redundancy deployment method based on genetic algorithm(GA) is developed to solve the proposed *** simulation results testify that the proposed redundancy optimization method is capable to build a reliable and economic smart grid communication network.

Compared to a smooth channel, a finned channel provides a higher heat transfer coefficient; increasing the fin height enhances the heat transfer. However, this heat transfer enhancement is associated with an increase in the pressure drop. This leads to an increased pumping power requirement so that one may seek an optimum design for such systems. The main goal of this paper is to define the exact location and size of fins in such a way that a minimal pressure drop coincides with an optimal heat transfer based on the genetic algorithm. Each fin arrangement is considered a solution to the problem （an individual for genetic algorithm）. An initial population is generated randomly at the first step. Then the algorithm has been searched among these solutions and made new solutions iteratively by its functions to find an optimum design as reported in this article.

Aiming at the difficulty of accurately constructing the dynamic model of subtropical high, based on the potential height field time series over 500 hPa layer of T106 numerical forecast products, by using EOF（empirical orthogonal function） temporal-spatial separation technique, the disassembled EOF time coefficients series were regarded as dynamical model variables, and dynamic system retrieval idea as well as genetic algorithm were introduced to make dynamical model parameters optimization search, then, a reasonable non-linear dynamic model of EOF time-coefficients was established. By dynamic model integral and EOF temporal-spatial components assembly, a mid-/long-term forecast of subtropical high was carried out. The experimental results show that the forecast results of dynamic model are superior to that of general numerical model forecast results. A new modeling idea and forecast technique is presented for diagnosing and forecasting such complicated weathers as subtropical high.

A simple control structure in servo system is occasionally needed for simple industrial application which precise and high control performance is not exessively important so that the cost production can be reduced efficiently. Simplified vector control, which has simple control structure, is utilized as the permanent magnet synchronous motor control algorithm and genetic algorithm is used to tune three PI controllers used in simplified vector control. The control performance is obtained from simulation and investigated to verify the feasibility of the algorithm to be applied in the real application. Simulation results show that the speed and torque responses of the system in both continuous time and discrete time can achieve good performances. Furthermore, simplified vector control combined with genetic algorithm has a similar perfofmance with conventional field oriented control algorithm and possible to be realized into the real simple application in the future.

This article presents the genetic algorithm （GA） as an autonomic approach for the joint radio resource management （JRRM） amongst heterogeneous radio access technologies （RATs） in the end-to-end reconfigurable systems. The joint session admission control （JOSAC） and the bandwidth allocation are combined as a specific decision made by the operations of the genetic algorithm with certain advisable modifications. The proposed algorithm is triggered on the following two conditions When a session is initiated, it is triggered for the session to camp on the most appropriate RAT and select the most suitable bandwidth for the desired service. When a session terminates, it is also used to adjust the distribution of the ongoing sessions through the handovers. This will increase the adjustment frequency of the JRRM controller for the best system performance. Simulation results indicate that the proposed autonomic JRRM scheme not only effectively reduces the handover times, but also achieves well trade-off between the spectrum utility and the blocking probability.

A genetic algorithm of body waveform inversion is presented for better understanding of crustal and upper mantle structures with deep seismic sounding （DSS） waveform data. General reflection and transmission synthetic seismogram algorithm, which is capable of calculating the response of thin alternating high and low velocity layers, is applied as a solution for forward modeling, and the genetic algorithm is used to find the optimal solution of the inverse problem. Numerical tests suggest that the method has the capability of resolving low-velocity layers, thin alternating high and low velocity layers, and noise suppression. Waveform inversion using P-wave records from Zeku, Xiahe and Lintao shots in the seismic wide-angle reflection/refraction survey along northeastern Qinghai-Xizang （Tibeteau） Plateau has revealed fine structures of the bottom of the upper crust and alternating layers in the middle/lower crust and topmost upper mantle.

The Safety of The Intended Functionality(SOTIF)challenge represents the triggering condition by elements of a specific scenario and exposes the function limitation of an autonomous vehicle(AV),which leads to *** for operationcontent-related features,the scenario is similar to AVs’SOTIF research and ***,scenario generation is a significant topic for SOTIF verification and validation procedure,especially in the simulation testing of ***,in this paper,a well-designed scenario architecture is first defined,with comprehensive scenario elements,to present SOTIF trigger ***,considering complex traffic disturbance as trigger conditions,a novel SOTIF scenario generation method is *** indicator,also known as Scenario Potential Risk,is defined as the combination of the safety control intensity and the prior collision *** indicator helps identify critical scenarios in the proposed *** addition,the corresponding vehicle motion models are established for general straight roads,curved roads,and safety assessment *** for the traffic participants’motion model,it is designed to construct the key dynamic *** efficiently search for critical scenarios with the trigger of complex traffic flow,this scenario is encoded as genes and it is regenerated through selection,mutation,and crossover iteration processes,known as the genetic algorithm(GA).Experimental results show that the GA-based method could efficiently construct diverse and critical traffic scenarios,contributing to the construction of the SOTIF scenario library.

Mobile ad hoc network(MANET)is a dynamically reconfigurable wireless network with time-variable *** that nodes are highly mobile,MANET’s topology often *** changes increase the difficulty in finding the routes that the packets use when they are *** study proposes an algorithm called genetic algorithm-based location-aided routing(GALAR)to enhance the MANET routing protocol *** GALAR algorithm maintains an adaptive update of the node location information by adding the transmitting node location information to the routing packet and selecting the transmitting node to carry the packets to their *** GALAR was constructed based on a genetic optimization scheme that considers all contributing factors in the delivery behavior using criterion function *** results showed that the GALAR algorithm can make the probability of packet delivery ratio more than 99%with less network ***,GALAR was compared to other algorithms in terms of different network evaluation *** GALAR algorithm significantly outperformed the other algorithms that were used in the study.
