The pervasive presence of microplastics in marine environments has raised significant concerns. This review addresses the pressing issue of microplastic pollution in marine ecosystems and its potential implications for both the environment and human health. It outlines the current state of microplastic occurrence, distribution, and extraction methods within marine organisms. Microplastics have emerged as a significant environmental concern due to their harmful effects on ecosystems and their potential human health risks. These particles infiltrate marine environments through runoff and atmospheric deposition, ultimately contaminating beaches and posing threats to marine life. Despite the gravity of this issue, there has been limited research on the presence and distribution of microplastics in marine organisms. This review aims to bridge this knowledge gap by comprehensively examining the occurrence, distribution, and various extraction methods used to detect microplastics in marine organisms. It emphasizes the urgent need for targeted measures to manage microplastic pollution, highlights the significant role of human activities in contributing to this problem, and underscores the importance of reducing human-induced pollution to safeguard marine ecosystems. While this paper contributes to the understanding of microplastic pollution in marine environments and underscores the critical importance of taking action to protect marine organisms and preserve our oceans for future generations, it also emphasizes that, in effectively tackling the microplastic problem, a well-coordinated approach is essential, involving research initiatives, policy adjustments, public involvement, and innovative technologies. Crucially, prompt and resolute responses must exist to counteract the escalating peril posed by microplastics to the oceans and the global environment.

Condensed and hydrolysable tannins are non-toxic natural polyphenols that are a commercial commodity industrialized for tanning hides to obtain leather and for a growing number of other industrial applications mainly to substitute petroleum-based *** are a definite class of sustainable materials of the forestry *** have been in operation for hundreds of years to manufacture leather and now for a growing number of applications in a variety of other industries,such as wood adhesives,metal coating,pharmaceutical/medical applications and several *** review presents the main sources,either already or potentially commercial of this forestry by-materials,their industrial and laboratory extraction systems,their systems of analysis with their advantages and drawbacks,be these methods so simple to even appear primitive but nonetheless of proven effectiveness,or very modern and *** constitutes a basic but essential summary of what is necessary to know of these sustainable *** doing so,the review highlights some of the main challenges that remain to be addressed to deliver the quality and economics of tannin supply necessary to fulfill the industrial production requirements for some materials-based uses.

extraction of Fat and Fatty Acid Composition from Slaughterhouse Waste by Evaluating Conventional Analytical methods

To attain maximum recovery of useful compounds from slaughterhouse waste (Suet, Tongue, Pancreas) of selected ruminant (cow, goat, lamb, and bull), the fat extraction efficiency of popular methods was compared along with fatty acid (FAs) composition. Four selected methods including Soxhlet (SOX), acid hydrolysis, Bligh & dyer (B&D), and Folch (FOL) were assessed. After methylation, extracted lipids were analyzed by Gas chromatography for FA composition. Data indicated that all selected methods were significantly (p extraction was achieved with the FOL method.

Corbicula fluminea distillate(CFD),as an industrial sub-product of the steaming process of ***,is rich in polysaccharides,proteins,and amino acids and has important developmental *** this study,therefore,three water-soluble polysaccharides(CFDPs:CFDP-D,CFDP-U,and CFDP-T)were extracted and separated from CFD through direct ethanol precipitation,ultrasound-assisted extraction,and three-phase partitioning(TPP),*** demonstrated that the three extraction methods had important influences on extraction yields,chemical compositions,molecular weights,monosaccharide and amino acid constituents,structural characteristics,and microstructures as well as biological activities of ***,CFDP-T had higher yield(60.92%±3.58%),carbohydrate content(91.05%±1.22%),and uronic acid content(8.55%±0.18%)and lower protein content(7.15%±0.15%)than CFDP-D and *** three CFDPs were acidic proteoheteroglycans combined through O-glycosidic bonds and had high molecular weights of 1.93–2.41×10^(7) Da and the same monosaccharide and amino acid compositions but different *** with CFDP-D and CFDP-U,CFDP-T exhibited more excellent free radical scavenging and stimulating(1.57±0.03μM,500μg/mL)activities on RAW264.7 macrophages in ***,our findings suggested that CFDP-T obtained from CFD by TPP had the potential to be a functional food ingredient in food industry.

Comparison of Some Physicochemical Properties of Locust Bean Seeds Gum Extracted by Acid and Water Pre-Treatments

In this research, locust bean gums were removed from seeds with different extraction methods and some physicochemical properties were analyzed for gums and also locust beans. Three different extractions were treated at different temperatures and durations of sulfuric acid (H2SO4, 60%) solution, hydrochloric acid (HCl, 30%) solution and boiling water. Following dehulling and drying processes, seeds were milled and locust bean gums (LBG) were obtained eventually. The color values, moisture, protein, ash, sugar, pH, total acidity, soluble solids content, foreign particulates, acid insoluble ash contents and viscosity curves were compared for all samples. The results exhibited that the highest ash (1.94%) and protein (6.65%) contents were determined by water extraction gum, the highest acid-insoluble ash (3.58%) and foreign particulates (44.17%) contents were determined by HCl extraction gum. The lowest protein (5.01%), acid insoluble ash (1.29%), the foreign particulates (34.99%) and the highest viscosity value (533.9 mPas) were found from H2SO4 extraction gum. The results of investigation also showed that the H2SO4 extraction method was found to be more appropriate than HCl and water extraction methods to obtain a good quality gum.

Determination of the Content of Chlorophyll a in Surface Water

Advantages and disadvantages of three extraction methods （acetone grinding, heating and freezing extraction methods） in determination of chlorophyll a in surface water were compared, and the distribution of chlorophyll a in the Fenhe River in Taiyuan region was discussed. The results showed that more chlorophyll a was extracted using acetone heating and freezing extraction methods compared with acetone grinding method, and standard deviation （SD） was smaller. Interference of pheophytin a was eliminated, so accuracy of chlorophyll a content was improved. Chlorophyll a content at points 1 # and 2# in the upper reaches of the Fenhe River was lower than that at other points close to residential areas.
