Objective To explore the effects of a potential anti-oxidative plant,erigeron multiradiatus(Asteraceae) ,plant materials from naturally distributed high-altitude populations at different stages of life cycle were *** Fifteen extracts obtained from the Ganzi region(Sichuan,China) were studied to assess their radical-scavenging ability on 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radicals and reducing power ***,considering that anti-oxidants and free radical scavengers can also exert protective effect on endothelial cells from oxidative injury,these extracts were also evaluated for their anti-oxidative activity against cellular injury in the cultured human endothelial cell line(ECV304) induced by hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) .Results All the extracts had radical-scavenging and/or reducing power ability,and the most active extract was found during flowering whereas the lowest appeared during vegetative growth *** accumulation of anti-oxidative compounds was found to be affected by the altitude of growth *** flavonoid content assay was also performed to support this ***,these extracts also exhibited different effects on attenuating H2O2-induced cytotoxicity and inhibiting lipid peroxidation and LDH leakage from endothelial *** *** may be an important natural anti-oxidant and this property may contribute to verifying the utilization of this plant in Tibet folk medicine.

A New Procedure for Separation and Purification of Scutellarin from erigeron multiradiatus

Abstract: Objective To establish a new procedure for isolating scutellarin from erigeron multiradiatus. Methods Aproposed method was developed by combining macroporous resins with ODS column. Firstly, E. multiradiatus wasextracted by ultrasound with 80% methanol. Preliminary separation was performed on macroporous resin *** performance and adsorption characteristics of three macroporous resins, D140, D141, and D605, were comparedand the enrichment procedure was optimized. Further purification was carried out by medium pressure liquidchromatography (MPLC) with ODS column. Results It was demonstrated that D141 had better extractive effects onscutellarin. The MPLC conditions were optimized as follows: 15% ethanol aqueous as mobile phase with flow rate at2.5 mL/min. The yield and purity of the isolated scutellarin were 1.20 mg/g and 96.5%, respectively. ConclusionThe overall procedure is efficient and low-cost, which is considered suitable for the separation and purification ofscutellarin from E. multiradiatus. The results provide the scientific basis for developing and using scutellarin in clinic.

Caffeoylquinic acid derivatives extract of erigeron multiradiatus alleviated acute myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury in rats through inhibiting NF-kappaB and JNK activations

erigeron multiradiatus(Lindl.)Benth.,has been used in Tibet folk medicine to treat various inflammatory *** aim of this study was to investigate anti-myocardial ischemia and reperfusion(I/R)injury effect of caffeoylquinic acids derivatives of ***(AE)in vivo and to explain underling *** was prepared using the whole plant of *** and contents of 6 caffeoylquinic acid determined through HPLC *** I/R were induced by left anterior descending coronary artery occlusion for 30 min followed by 24 h of reperfusion in *** administration(10,20 and 40 mg·kg-1)inhibited I/R-induced injury as indicated by decreasing myocardial infarct size,reducing of CK and LDH activities and preventing ST-segment depression in dose-dependent *** decreased cardiac tissue levels of pro-inflammatory factors TNF-αand IL-6 and attenuated leukocytes *** was further demonstrated to significantly inhibit I-κB degradation,nuclear translocation of p-65 and phosphorylation of *** results suggested that cardioprotective effect of AE could be due to suppressing myocardial inflammatory response and blocking NF-κB and JNK activation ***,caffeoylquinic acids might be the active compounds in *** on myocardial ischemia and be a potential natural drug for treating myocardial I/R injury.
