Diverse genotypes of norovirus genogroup I and II contamination in environmental water in Thailand during the COVID-19 outbreak from 2020 to 2022

Noroviruses(NoVs)are the most significant viral pathogens associated with waterborne and foodborne outbreaks of nonbacterial acute gastroenteritis in humans *** study aimed to investigate the prevalence and diversity of NoVs contaminated in the environmental water in Chiang Mai,Thailand.A total of 600 environmental water samples were collected from ten sampling sites in Chiang Mai from July 2020 to December *** presence of NoV genogroups I(GI),GII,and GIV were examined using real-time RT-PCR *** genotype of the virus was determined by nucleotide sequencing and phylogenetic *** results showed that NoV GI and GII were detected at 8.5%(51/600)and 11.7%(70/600)of the samples tested,***,NoV GIV was not detected in this *** circulated throughout the year,with a higher detection rate during the winter *** NoV GI genotypes(GI.1-GI.6)and eight NoV GII genotypes(GII.2,GII.3,GII.7,GII.8,GII.10,GII.13,GII.17,and GII.21)were *** 121 NoV strains detected,GII.17 was the most predominant genotype(24.8%,30 strains),followed by GII.2(21.5%,26 strains),GI.3(17.4%,21 strains),and GI.4(16.5%,20 strains).Notably,NoV GII.3,GII.7,GII.8,and GII.10 were detected for the first time in water samples in this *** study provides insight into the occurrence and seasonal pattern of NoV along with novel findings of NoV strains in environmental water in Thailand during the COVID-19 *** findings emphasize the importance of further surveillance studies to monitor viral contamination in environmental water.

Magnetic Solid-Phase Extraction of Phthalate Esters from environmental water Samples using Fibrous Phenyl-functionalized Fe3O4@SiO2@KCC-1

A new kind of phenyl-functionalized magnetic fibrous mesoporous silica(Fe3 O4@Si O2@KCC-1-phenyl) was prepared by copolymerization as an efficient adsorbent for the magnetic extraction of phthalate esters from environmental water samples. The obtained Fe3 O4@Si O2@KCC-1-phenyl showed monodisperse fibrous spherical morphology, fairly strong magnetic response(29 emu/g), and an abundant π-electron system, which allowed rapid isolation of the Fe3 O4@Si O2@KCC-1-phenyl from solutions upon applying an appropriate magnetic field. Several variables that affect the extraction efficiency of the analytes,including the type of the elution solvent, amount of adsorbent, extraction time and reusability, were investigated and optimized. Under optimum conditions, the Fe3 O4@Si O2@KCC-1-phenyl was used for the extraction of four phthalate esters from environmental water samples followed by high-performance liquid chromatographic analysis. Validation experiments indicated that the developed method presented good linearity(0.1-20 ng/m L), low limit of detection(7.5-29 μg/L, S/N =3). The proposed method was applied to the determination of phthalate esters in different real water samples, with relative recoveries of 93%-103.4%and relative standard deviation of 0.8%-8.3%.

An efficient resin for solid-phase extraction and determination by UPLCMS/MS of 44 pharmaceutical personal care products in environmental waters

In this study,a hydrophilic resin named GCHM was fabricated based on poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone-codivinylbenzene),characterized,and applied as a solid-phase extraction(SPE)*** to 44 pharmaceuticals and personal care products(PPCPs)belonging to 10 classes were recovered in environmental water *** variables affecting extraction,such as adsorbent amount,sample pH,and loading speed,were *** optimal conditions,the average absolute recovgy of 44 PPCPs was 75.6%using GCHM,indicating a better performance than the commercial Oasis^*** with home-made hydrophilic polymeric sorbent followed by ultra-performance liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry was validated,and the method achieved good linearity(r2>0.991,for all analytes).In addition,the method detection limits of target compounds ranged from 0.03 to 0.6 ng/*** developed method was applied to determine PPCPs in 10 environmental water samples taken from the Yangtze River,Huaihe River,and Taihu Lake,1 groundwater sample from Changzhou in Jiangsu Province,1 wastewater sample from Xiamen and 2 seawater samples from the Jiulong River in Fujian Province,*** these samples,22 compounds were determined at levels ranging from 0.5 to 1590 ng/L.

An Ultrasensitive and Selective Probe for Ratiometric Determination and Removal of Hg^(2+)

New methods are desired not only to quantitatively determine but also effectively remove mercury from environmental sources,because mercury is a highly hazardous and ubiquitous pollutant with bioaccumulative ***,we developed an ultrasensitive and highly selective ratiometric electrochemical probe for accurate determination and quick removal of mercury from *** thiourea(PT)was designed as a specific recognition element for Hg^(2+,and detection was achieved by selective binding and reduction of Hg^(2+on PT-functionalized ***,HS-DNA-MB(50-MBAGGAGGAGGAGGGAGGAGGG-SH-30)was designed as an inner reference element,providing a built-in correction for quantitative determination of Hg^(2+.The present probe shows high sensitivity for Hg^(2+detection in a broad dynamic range from 1 nM to 1.3 lM,with relatively low detection limit of 0.12 nM(0.024 ppb).This electrochemical probe was successfully applied for determination of Hg^(2+in environmental *** interestingly,it was also used to effectively remove Hg^(2+from Huangpu River water within just 7 min without further separation.

Fluoroquinolones（FQs） are a widely used class of synthetic antibiotics with broad activity spectrum of mycoplasma and bacteria（both Gram positive and negative）. Due to the extensive use of FQs in veterinary science and pharmaceutical industry, they are expected to enter the environmental water via animal excretion and hospital waste, giving rise to a constant need for a sensitive and reliable method to monitor FQs in aquatic environment. Thus, an off-line procedure of immunoaffinity extraction（IAE） followed by capillary electrophoresis-mass spectroscopy（CE-MS） has been developed for simultaneous determination of eight typical FQs in environment water. A broad-specific polyclonal antibody was home-prepared and immobilized on a Sepharose 4B stationary phase for sample cleanup, FQs extraction and pre-concentration. CE-MS was subsequently applied for FQs separation and quantification. The immunoaffinity column was evaluated in the parameters of selectivity, binding capacity, elution protocol, and recovery. The separation and detection by CE-MS were also investigated. Under the optimized conditions, the developed method was finally applied to analyze FQs in environmental water sample from a local lake, providing satisfactory recoveries from 72% to 112% and LODs ranging from 1.2 n M to 5.0 n M.
