China protests EU first anti-subsidy duties on Chinese goods BEIJING,May 14—China opposes the european Union’s decision to impose its first-ever anti-subsidy and antidumping duties on imports from China,said Ministry of Commerce(MOC) spokesman Yao Jian on Saturday. Yao made the remarks in a statement on the MOC website after the EU announced its anti-subsidy and antidumping duties on Chinese coated fine paper—used for high-quality printing. The EU has violated the World Trade Organization (WTO) rules by imposing both anti-subsidy and anti-dumping trade remedies on the same goods,Yao said. The Chinese government and enterprises provided much evidence to show the coated fine paper industry in China is a competitive one where market economy principles are applied and the government never intervened in company operations or goods pricing,Yao said.

Since the mid-2000s, the PRC has increasingly focused on pursuing cultural diplomacy abroad to improve its national image and enhance cultural soft power. Although China＇s cultural ＂Charm Offensive＂ has not gone unnoticed, a variety of specific activities have not been subject to research so far. This paper, therefore, attempts to fill this research gap by analyzing Chinese state-level cultural diplomacy through a comparative case study of three China Culture Year events held in France （2004）, Italy （2010）, and Germany （2012）. These findings are subsequently compared to the China Culture Year in Australia （2012）, thereby allowing the identification of spatial variations. I argue that the Chinese government applies a general approach of organizing the events abroad by making use of local institu- tions. At the same time, through the strategic selection of events, the festivals portray distinct national images that transmit particular narratives of self-presentation to the european audience and take into account country-specific preferences.

The territory of the Balkan Peninsula in SE europe is reviewed, from the point of gemmology, as the cradle of gem and decorative minerals and metals in european prehistory. During the local Neolithic period (end of 7 th -6 th millennium BC), as material for tools or for beads, nephrite (with the earliest known Balkan nephrite culture), jadeite-omphacite and quartz (different varieties) were introduced to make pendants and idols. Large quantities of copper and gold artifacts are known since the Chalcolithic period (5 th millennium BC)(unique for the region;the largest in number of gold artifacts is the Varna I Chalcolithic necropolis in Bulgaria). The gemmological materials in the Balkans are known for malachite, antigorite serpentinite, turquoise, rock crystal, carnelian, jasper, jet and obsidian. In the Varna I necropolis (mid 5 th millennium BC) are recorded the first known complex faceted carnelian beads with 32 facets, as well as some of the most important gemmological techniques and procedures such as faceting, tumbling, annealing, miniaturization and standardization. As pigments for pottery, cinnabar, graphite and gold were used in different prehistoric sites. The earliest salt production in the Balkans is known from sites in Romania and Bulgaria, and because of its trade, salt is positively linked to a population rich with prestigious goods. The introduced possible Chalcolithic weight unit “van”(2 carats) is supposed to be the earliest known in prehistoric times.

In Krisis,and in many of the preparatory papers for his last published work,Edmund Husserl repeatedly declares his allegiance to the Enlightenment,but,at the same time,always expresses his misgivings about its concrete *** Horkheimer and Adorno,but for somewhat different reasons,he thus succumbs to what Ferrone has termed the philosopher’s conception of the Enlightenment,as opposed to that of the historian of *** doubt Husserl is explicit about not aiming to write a history of ideas,but in so doing he misses the essential thrust of the Enlightenment as being a part of what he himself describes as the european *** accordance with his own notion of generativity,the Enlightenment must be seen as going well beyond the Greek beginnings by epitomizing,in the 18th century,the idea of human rights,as well as that of universal ***,it is the discovery of the(rights of the)Other which justifies Husserl’s claim for europe being the bearer of a universal *** days,however,Enlightenment values,by means of a genuine dialectics,have been brought,in the guise of the so-called Social Justice Theory,to enter into contradiction with themselves,one of the victims of which is Husserl’s notion of *** the new struggle for Enlightenment,like the classical one,has to be fought out in the Public Sphere,we need to develop a novel Ethics of communication.

Prostate cancer(PCa)is the second most common cancer among men worldwide and even ranks first in *** Asia is known as the region with the lowest PCa incidence,it has been rising rapidly over the last 20 years mostly due to the introduction of prostate-specific antigen(PSA)*** PCa screening studies in europe show a mortality reduction in favor of PSA-based screening but coincide with high proportions of unnecessary biopsies,overdiagnosis and subsequent *** data on the value of PSA-based screening and hence the balance between harms and benefits in Asia is still *** of known racial variations,Asian countries should not directly apply the european screening *** in the western world also in Asia,new predictive markers,tools and risk stratification strategies hold great potential to improve the early detection of PCa and to reduce the worldwide existing negative aspects of PSA-based PCa screening.
