Dynamic ageing research of cross‐linked polyethylene cable insulation based on temporal‐spatial Dimension under combined electro‐thermal effect

Dynamic ageing process of cross‐linked polyethylene(XLPE)cable insulation under combined electro‐thermal effect is investigated by the construction of theoretical analysis model and the practice of operation‐simulated ageing test.Firstly,theoretical analysis model is constructed from time and spatial Dimensions.From the time Dimension,in the light of the impeding trend of internal stress to external stress,the XLPE ageing process of Steady state‐Transition state‐Steady state(STS)is proposed to illustrate the dynamic ageing process of XLPE.From the spatial Dimension,the insulation is divided into three scales to quantify the ageing.Secondly,to practice the theoretical analysis model,an operation‐simulated ageing test was conducted on two high voltage alternating current cables with service years of 15 and 30 for 540 days.Subsequently,relevant diagnostic measurements were applied to analyse the influence of physicochemical characteristics on the dielectric and heat transfer performances of the cables.The results show that the degradation of the actual operating cable is an extremely slow process.On the one hand,the response in physical changes of morphology counterbalances the external stress,maintaining the stability.On the other hand,once the chemical changes occur,negative feedback mechanism tends to impede the occurrence of further degradation by regulating fields distribution.

A Fractal Dimension Based Framework for Night Vision Fusion

In this paper, a novel fusion framework is proposed for night-vision applications such as pedestrian recognition,vehicle navigation and surveillance. The underlying concept is to combine low-light visible and infrared imagery into a single output to enhance visual perception. The proposed framework is computationally simple since it is only realized in the spatial domain. The core idea is to obtain an initial fused image by averaging all the source images. The initial fused image is then enhanced by selecting the most salient features guided from the root mean square error(RMSE) and fractal Dimension of the visual and infrared images to obtain the final fused image.Extensive experiments on different scene imaginary demonstrate that it is consistently superior to the conventional image fusion methods in terms of visual and quantitative evaluations.

Geometric Flow Control Lateral Flow Immunoassay Devices (GFC-LFIDs): A New Dimension to Enhance Analytical Performance

Te nitrocellulose(NC)membrane based lateral fow immunoassay device(LFID)is one of the most important and widely used biosensor platforms for point-of-care(PoC)diagnostics.However,the analytical performance of LFID has limitations and its optimization is restricted to the bioassay chemistry,the membrane porosity,and the choice of biolabel system.Tese bottom neck technical issues resulted from the fact that the conventional LFID design principle has not evolved for many years,which limited the LFID for advanced biosensor applications.Here we introduce a new Dimension for LFID design and optimization based on geometric fow control(GFC)of NC membranes,leading to highly sensitive GFC-LFID.Tis novel approach enables comprehensive fow control via diferent membrane geometric features such as the width(θ)and the length(l)of a constriction,as well as its input angle(θ_(1))and output angle(θ_(2)).Te GFC-LFID(θ=0.5 mm,l=7 mm,θ_(1)=60∘,θ_(2)=45∘)attained a 10-fold increase in sensitivity for detection of interleukin-6(IL-6),compared with conventional LFID,whereas reducing by 10-fold the antibody consumption.Te GFC-LFID detects IL-6 over a linear range of 0.1–10 ng/mL with a limit of detection(LoD)of 29 pg/mL,which even outperforms some commercial IL-6 LFIDs.Such signifcant improvement is attained by pure geometric control of the NC membrane,without additives,that only relaying on a simple high throughput laser ablation procedure suitable for integration on regular large-scale manufacturing of GFC-LFIDs.Our new development on GFC-LFID with the combination of facile scalable fabrication process,tailored fow control,improved analytical performance,and reduced antibodies consumption is likely to have a signifcant impact on new design concept for the LFID industry.

Fast Growth Entire Functions Whose Escaping Set Has Hausdorff Dimension Two

The authors study a family of transcendental entire functions which lie outside the Eremenko-Lyubich class in general and are of infinity growth order. Most importantly,the authors show that the intersection of Julia set and escaping set of these entire functions has full Hausdorff Dimension. As a by-product of the result, the authors also obtain the Hausdorff measure of their escaping set is infinity.

Cloud detection from visual band of satellite image based on variance of fractal Dimension

Cover ratio of cloud is a very important factor which affects the quality of a satellite image, therefore cloud detection from satellite images is a necessary step in assessing the image quality. The study on cloud detection from the visual band of a satellite image is developed. Firstly, we consider the differences between the cloud and ground including high grey level, good continuity of grey level, area of cloud region, and the variance of local fractal Dimension (VLFD) of the cloud region. A single cloud region detection method is proposed. Secondly, by introducing a reference satellite image and by comparing the variance in the Dimensions corresponding to the reference and the tested images, a method that detects multiple cloud regions and determines whether or not the cloud exists in an image is described. By using several Ikonos images, the performance of the proposed method is demonstrated.

Spectrum manipulation of a dual-stop-band metamaterial terahertz filter based on unit cell Dimension changes

We numerically and experimentally proposed a dual-stop-band terahertz filter based on standard microelectronic fabrication method. The stop bands locate at 0.32 THz and 1.02 THz with 3 dB bandwidths of 0.26 THz and 0.55 THz, respectively. The resonance characteristics of the proposed device were discussed with the help of surface current maps and field density maps extracted from computer simulation software to better understand the working principle of the proposed device. On top of that, a total of seven devices with different Dimensions were fabricated to fully discuss the Dimension effects on the resonant frequency shift and bandwidth changes. This fabrication process is applicable for related integrated metamaterial devices and provides essential experiment evidences for effective ways of manipulating the transmission spectrum of the proposed filter.
