Healthcare providers’perspectives on factors influencing their critical care decision-making during the covid-19 pandemic:An international pilot survey

The covid-19 pandemic has raised awareness about various environmental issues,includ-ing PM_(2.5) ***,PM_(2.5) pollution during the covid-19 lockdown was traced and an-alyzed to clarify the sources and factors influencing PM_(2.5) in Guangzhou,with an emphasis on heavy *** lockdown led to large reductions in industrial and traffic emissions,which significantly reduced PM_(2.5) concentrations in ***,the trend of PM_(2.5) concentrations was not consistent with traffic and industrial emissions,as minimum concentrations were observed in the fourth period(3/01-3/31,22.45 μg/m^(3))of the ***,the concentrations of other gaseous pollutants,e.g.,SO_(2),NO_(2) and CO,were corre-lated with industrial and traffic emissions,and the lowest values were noticed in the sec-ond period(1/24-2/0_(3))of the *** correlation analysis revealed that the decreased PM_(2.5) concentrations during covid-19 can be mainly attributed to decreased in-dustrial and traffic emissions rather than meteorological *** meteorological factors were included in the PM_(2.5) composition and backward trajectory analyses,we found that long-distance transportation and secondary pollution offset the reduction of primary emissions in the second and third stages of the ***,industrial PM_(2.5) emis-sions from western,southern and southeastern Guangzhou play an important role in the formation of heavy pollution *** results not only verify the importance of control-ling traffic and industrial emissions,but also provide targets for further improvements in PM_(2.5) pollution.

The impacts of the covid-19 pandemic on multimodal human mobility in London:A perspective of decarbonizing transport

Decarbonizing transport is one of the core tasks for achieving Net Zero targets,but the covid-19 pandemic disrupts human mobility and the established transport development *** existing research has explored the relationship between virus transmission,human mobility,and restrictions policies,few have studied the responses of multimodal human mobility to the pandemic and their impacts on the achievement of decarbonizing *** paper employs 32 consecutive biweekly observations of mobile phone application data to understand the influences of the pandemics on multimodal human mobility from February 2020 to April 2021 in *** here illustrate that multimodal travel behavior and traffic flows significant changed after the pandemic and related lockdowns,but the decline or recovery varies across different travel modes and *** car mode has shown the most resilience throughout the pandemic,but the travel modes in the public transit sector were hit *** and walk modes remained high at the beginning of the pandemic,but the trend did not continue as the pandemic developed and the season *** findings suggest that the covid-19 pandemic brought more challenges to travel mode shifting and the achievement of decarbonizing transport rather than *** analysis will assist transport authorities to optimize the established transport policies and to redistribute limited resources for accelerating the achievement of decarbonizing transport.

pandemics like covid-19 have created a spreading and ever-higher healthy threat to the humans in the manufacturing system which incurs severe disruptions and complex issues to industrial *** intelligent manufacturing(IM)systems are promising to create a safe working environment by using the automated manufacturing assets which are monitored by the networked sensors and controlled by the intelligent decision-making *** relief of the production disruption by IM technologies facilitates the reconnection of the good and service flows in the network,which mitigates the severity of industrial chain *** this study,we create a novel intelligent manufacturing framework for the production recovery under the pandemic and build an assessment model to evaluate the impacts of the IM technologies on industrial *** the constraints of the IM resources,we formulate an optimization model to schedule the allocation of IM resources according to the mutual market demands and the severity of the pandemic.

Investigating the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on crime incidents number in different cities

The covid-19 pandemic is strongly affecting many aspects of human life and society around the *** investigate whether this pandemic also influences crime,the differences in crime incidents numbers before and during the pandemic in four large cities(namely Washington DC,Chicago,New York City and Los Angeles)are ***,the Granger causal relationships between crime incident numbers and new cases of covid-19 are also *** on that,new cases of covid-19 with significant Granger causal correlations are used to improve the crime prediction *** results show that crime is generally impacted by the covid-19 pandemic,but it varies in different cities and with different crime *** types of crimes have seen fewer incidents numbers during the pandemic than *** Granger causal correlations are found between the covid-19 cases and crime incidents in these *** specifically,crime incidents numbers of theft in Washington DC,Chicago and New York City,fraud in Washington DC and Los Angeles,assault in Chicago and New York City,and robbery in Los Angeles and New York City,are significantly Granger caused by the new case of *** results may be partially explained by the Routine Activity theory and Opportunity theory that people may prefer to stay at home to avoid being infected with covid-19 during the pandemic,giving fewer chances for *** addition,involving new cases of covid-19 as a variable can slightly improve the performance of crime prediction in terms of some specific types of *** study is expected to obtain deeper insights into the relationships between the pandemic and crime in different cities,and to provide new attempts for crime prediction during the pandemic.

Missing microbes in infants and children in the covid-19 pandemic:a study of 1,126 participants in Beijing,China

The covid-19 pandemic has caused many fatalities worldwide and continues to affect the health of the recovered patients in the form of *** this study,we compared the gut microbiome of uninfected infants and children before the pandemic began(BEFORE cohort,n=906)to that of after the pandemic(AFTER cohort,n=220)to examine the potential impact of social distancing and life habit changes on infant/children gut *** on 16S rRNA sequencing,we found a significant change in microbiome composition after the pandemic,with Bacteroides enterotype increasing to 35.45%from 30.46%before the *** quantification indicated that the bacterial loads of seven keystone taxa decreased by 91.69%–19.58%.Quantitative microbiome profiling,used to enhance the resolution in detecting microbiome differences,revealed a greater explained variance of pandemic on microbiome compared to gender,as well as a significant decrease in bacterial loads in 15 of the 20 major *** random forest age-predictor indicated the gut microbiomes were less mature in the after-pandemic cohort than in the before-pandemic cohort in the children group(3–12 years old)and had features of a significantly younger age(average of 1.86 years).Lastly,body weight and height were significantly lower in the after-pandemic cohort than in the before-pandemic cohort in infants(<1 year of age),which was associated with a decrease in bacterial loads in the fecal microbiome.

An MCDM approach to assessing influential factors on healthcare providers’safe performance during the covid-19 pandemic:Probing into demographic variables

This study assessed the influence of occupational stress,individual resilience,and organizational resilience on the safety performance of healthcare providers during the covid-19 *** variables including age,work experience,and gender were *** were collected from 344 healthcare providers employed at a teaching *** entropy method and the multi-criteria decision-making(MCDM)method were used to examine the influence of occupational stress,individual resilience,and organizational resilience on the safe performance of healthcare *** results of the entropy method showed that organizational resilience was the most influential factor in the safe performance of older healthcare *** contrast,individual resilience was the most significant factor in enhancing the safety performance of younger healthcare *** of work experience indicated that individual resilience was the most influential factor in the safe performance of less experienced healthcare ***-based analysis revealed that individual resilience had a major effect on the safety performance of both women and *** findings of this study could assist managers in improving the performance of the healthcare sector during pandemics by using and implementing resilience concepts at both the individual and organizational levels.

A significant increase in the number of coronavirus cases can easily be noticed in most of the countries around the *** of the consistent preventive initiatives being taken to contain the spread of this virus,the unabated increase in the cases is both alarming and *** role of mathematical models in predicting and estimating the spread of the virus,and identifying various preventive factors dependencies has been found important and effective in most of the previous pandemics like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome(SARS)*** this research work,authors have proposed the Susceptible-Infectected-Removed(SIR)model variation in order to forecast the pattern of coronavirus disease(covid-19)spread for the upcoming eight weeks in perspective of Saudi *** study has been performed by using SIR model with a proposed simplification using average progression for further estimation ofβandγvalues for better curve fittings *** predictive results of this study clearly show that under the current public health interventions,there will be an increase in the covid-19 cases in Saudi Arabia in the next four ***,a set of strong health primitives and precautionary measures are recommended in order to avoid and prevent the further spread of covid-19 in Saudi Arabia.

The covid-19 pandemic has severely affected various aspects of life,and its compounding and cascading impacts have been observed in most industries and *** oil and gas(O&G)industry was among the first to experience the impacts as the pandemic began due to the global economic recession and a sharp decline in demand for *** pandemic revealed major risk management and business continuity challenges and uncovered some of the vulnerabilities of the O&G industry and its major companies during a prolonged global *** and understanding how the covid-19 pandemic impacted the O&G sector in different countries,considering their unique circumstances,can provide important lessons for managing the current and future similar *** study investigated various impacts of the covid-19 pandemic on the O&G industry using Iran's Pars Oil and Gas Company(POGC)as a case *** were collected through indepth interviews with key managers of the *** methods,specifically thematic analysis,were used to analyze the *** of this study provide further insights into how the pandemic impacted the operations,risks,and business continuity of the *** results show that the pandemic caused significant operational,financial,and legal impacts by disrupting routine maintenance,reducing the availability of human resources under the public health measures and mobility restrictions,increasing processing and delivery times,increasing costs and decreasing revenues,and delaying contractual obligations.
