The balance of acidity and redox capability over modified CeO_2 catalyst for the selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH_3

The effect of acidity and redox capability over sulfuric acid-modified CeO_2 catalysts were studied for the selective catalytic reduction of NO_x with NH_3(NH_3-SCR). The deposition of sulfate significantly enhanced the catalytic performance over CeO_2. NO_x conversion over4H_2SO_4/CeO_2 at 230–440 °C was higher than 90%. The strong redox capability of CeO_2 could result in unselective NH_3 oxidation and decrease high temperatures catalytic activity and N_2 selectivity. The deposition of sulfate increased the acidity and weakened the redox capability, and then increased the high temperature NO_x conversion and N_2 selectivity. An appropriate level of acidity also promoted the activity at 190–250 °C over ceria-based catalysts, and with further increase in the acidity, the SCR activity decreased slightly. Weak redox capability lowered the low-temperature catalytic activity. Excellent SCR activity requires a balance of acidity and redox capability on the catalysts.

A laser-diode pumped passive Q-switched Nd:YAG/Cr^(4+):YAG laser with quick tunable pulse-width capability is studied and experimentally demonstrated. By focusing the auxiliary controlling laser beam onto a Cr^(4+):YAG crystal and thereby changing the initial transmission of the Cr^(4+):YAG crystal, laser pulses with different pulse widths can be achieved. The obtained laser pulse width is tunable in the range of 550–1492 ps with a fixed cavity length of 7 mm. The laser can be used to achieve different pulse widths between two pulses in the range of sub-nanosecond to a few tens of nanoseconds.

Organic-based electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are promising due to their high theoretical capacity,structure versatility and environmental ***,the poor intrinsic electric conductivity of most polymers results in slow reaction kinetics and hinders their application as electrode materials for LIBs.A binder-free self-supporting organic electrode with excellent redox kinetics is herein demonstrated via in situ polymerization of a uniform thin polyimide (PI) layer on a porous and highly conductive carbonized nanofiber (CNF) *** PI active material in the porous PI@CNF film has large physical contact area with both the CNF and the electrolyte thus obtains superior electronic and ionic *** a result,the PI@CNF cathode exhibits a discharge capacity of 170 mAh·g^-1 at 1 C (175 mA·g^-1),remarkable rate-performance (70.5% of 0.5 C capacity can be obtained at a 100 C discharge rate),and superior cycling stability with 81.3% capacity retention after 1,000 cycles at 1 *** but not least,a four-electron transfer redox process of the PI polymer was realized for the first time thanks to the excellent redox kinetics of the PI@CNF electrode,showing a discharge capacity exceeding 300 mAh·g^-1 at a current of 175 mA·g^-1.

The Lempel Ziv complexity （LZC） method is used to analyze the acceleration response of the T-shaped plate. The response is converted into symbolic sequences with the multi-segmented coarse-grained method. The LZC of the response of 240 points located in different areas near the center is calculated. The results show that LZC arithmetic applied to elastomer vibration can satisfy the discreteness condition.

The superposition dynamics of two confronting ultrasonic waves and their levitation capability for centimeter-sized thin disks are investigated by numerical analyses and validated by experiments. The sound pressure simulation reveals that two opposite ultrasonic waves provide a more effective standing-wave field than a single ultrasonic wave when the diameter of disk-shaped object approaches the wavelength scale. The dynamic superposition of two confronting beams facilitates the acoustic levitation of the clay disk and aluminum disk with diameters of 0.97 and 0.90. The acoustic radiation forces exerting on these thin disks are measured experimentally, which exhibit a better levitation stability for the centimeter-sized thin disks. The equilibrium levitation positions of the two disks are located near the sound pressure node, and the maximum acoustic radiation pressure on their surfaces is less than one percent of the maximum sound pressure.

Land use planning is one of the basic principles of sustainable development in a region and in a *** main objective of this paper is to test a new model of land use planning in order to evaluate ecological suitability and prioritize different land uses in Jahrom County placed in Fars Province,*** two main steps were prepared for the new model of Eco-Socioeconomic Model of Land Use Planning(EMOLUP).Step 1 includes ecological capability evaluation of different land uses including forest,rangeland,agriculture,conservation,and *** step is composed of the geometric mean method instead of the Boolean method;and step 2 includes land use planning and prioritizing for the various uses mentioned *** step is composed of intersecting ecological capability maps and land use planning,based on two scenarios(economic and social).It was compared with qualitative and current quantitative ***,current land use is employed for calibrating and modifying the *** results of ecological suitability evaluation showed that the EMOLUP model has more accuracy in the process of comparison than other current ***,revised method using the geometric mean(with overall accuracy>72 and kappa index>0.55 for all land uses and rangeland with overall accuracy=32 and kappa index=0.02)is better than Boolean models,and the method of the calibrated geometric mean(with overall accuracy>87 and kappa index>0.73 for all land uses)is the best among different used *** should be noted that the arithmetic mean has the lowest accuracy(with overall accuracy<45 and kappa index<0.24 for all land uses).Also,the results of prioritizing and land use planning showed that the quantitative method with two socio-economic scenarios(result based on average of EPM erosion model=0.3 that means 30%of modification in whole study area land uses)is the best method for land use planning in the study area.

While being generally appreciative of John Rawls' theory of justice,this paper aims to describe and compare the two metrics of justice—primary goods and capability,and through critiques and responses between Amartya Sen and John Rawls,I argue that the capability metric is a better project than the social primary goods metric insofar as it can provide a more practical path for rethinking the concept of social justice,as well as a better approach in resolving fundamental social justice issues in China.
