Objectives:Although the enterococcal bloodstream infections(EBSI) are often observed in clinic,the mixedEBSI were few *** aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics and risk factors of mixedEBSI in comparison with monomicrobial EBSI(mono-EBSI).Methods:A single center retrospective observational study was performed between Jan 1,2013 and Dec 31,2018 in a tertiary *** patients with EBSI were enrolled,and their data were collected by reviewing electronic medical ***:A total of 451 patients with EBSI were enrolled including 157 cases(34.8%) with *** most common co-pathogens were Gram-negative bacteria(57.1%),followed by Gram-positive bacteria(38.3%) and fungi(4.6%).In multivariable analysis,burn injury(adjusted odds ratio [OR],0.136;95% confidence interval [CI],0.050-0.373),and length of prior hospital stay(aOR,1.009;95% CI,1.001-1.017) were associated with *** with mixed-EBSI developed with more proportion of septic shock(19% vs.31.8%,p=0.002),prolonged length of ICU stay [9(0,25) vs.15(2.5,36),p<0.001] and hospital stay [29(16,49) vs.33(18.5,63),p=0.031].The mortality was not significantly different between mixed-EBSI and mono-EBSI(p=0.219).Conclusions:A high rate of mixed-EBSI was among EBSI,and the Gram-negative bacteria were the predominant co-existed *** injury and length of prior hospital stay were independent risk factors for *** the mortality was not different,patients with mixed-EBSI had poor outcomes in comparison with mono-EBSI,which merits more attention by physicians in the future.

BACKGROUND Gardnerella vaginalis(***)is a facultative anaerobic bacteria known to cause bloodstream ***,cases are very rare in *** is very limited clinical experience in the treatment of bloodstream infections caused by ***,there is an urgent need for effective antibacterial drugs to treat patients with bloodstream infections caused by *** SUMMARY A woman who underwent a cesarean section presented with a sudden onset of high fever 1-d *** blood cultures suggested an infection due to ***,and treatment with cefoperazone-sulbactam was *** 5 d of treatment,there was a decrease in the hemogram;however,the temperature and C-reactive protein levels remained *** on clinical experience and a review of literature,the treatment was modified to include ornidazole in combination with *** a week of treatment,the temperature,hemogram and C-reactive protein levels returned to normal,and blood cultures turned negative,suggesting a therapeutic effect of the combination *** This case highlighted the effective use of cefoperazone-sulbactam combined with ornidazole for bloodstream infection caused by *** following a cesarean section.

Analysis of Clinical Characteristics and Risk Factors of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bloodstream Infection in 55 Cases

Objective: Pseudomonas aeruginosa bloodstream infection presents a severe challenge to hospitalized patients. To investigate the clinical characteristics, risk factors and drug resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bloodstream infection. Methods: Clinical data and laboratory results of patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa bloodstream infection in the First Affiliated Hospital of Yangtze University from January 2019 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The factors associated with infection and death were analyzed by univariate analysis. Results: A total of 55 patients were enrolled in this study, The 28-day mortality rate was 14.5%. Univariate analysis showed that high procalcitonin, low albumin, ICU admission, central venous catheterization, indwelling catheter, and mechanical ventilation were associated with death. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that hypoproteinemia and central venous catheters were independent risk factors for death in patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa bloodstream infection. Conclusions: The drug resistance of P. aeruginosa bloodstream infection is not high, but the fatality rate is high. The combination of hypoalbuminemia after the onset of the disease and the use of central vein catheters can lead to increased mortality, suggesting that clinical identification of high-risk patients as early as possible, reducing the use of catheters, preventing the occurrence of P. aeruginosa bloodstream infection and improving the prognosis.

Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae(CRKP) NB5306 producing OXA-232 carbapenemase was isolated from bloodstream of a hospitalized *** isolate was ST437(sequence type 437),and the results of antimicrobial susceptiblity test showed that NB5306 was resistant to ertapenem,intermediate to meropenem but susceptible to *** to the results of plasmid sequencing and transformation,the blaOXA-232 gene was located on a ColKP3-type transformable plasmid of 6141 *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first report of OXA-232 carbapenemase-producing ST437 *** in the world.
