Cytomegalovirus is the most frequent agent of congenital viral infections,affecting approximately 0.2%-2.4%of live births in different countries[1-7].Universal screening for congenital cytomegalovirus infection in newborns is not a standard practice considering cost-benefit issues and viabil-ity of diagnostic ***,most newborns are asympto-matic and there is no effective treatment for this population[2-5].

Background There is a paucity of studies conducted in India on neonatal outcomes of preterm birth and low birth ***,we aimed to assess the impact of preterm birth and low birth weight on medical conditions,medication use and mortality among *** A prospective observational cohort study was conducted at the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) over a period of 9 *** of either sex,admitted to NICU and who received at least one medication were enrolled in the *** and demographic data,reason(s) for NICU admission,diagnoses,medications prescribed,medication-related problems,discharge status and the direct medical cost were documented and *** Four hundred and five neonates Were included in the study:60.5% were boys,32.7% were preterm and 44.2% were born *** sepsis (n =125,16.7%),unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia (n =83,11.1%) and respiratory distress syndrome (n =62,8.3%) were the most common medical conditions and were significantly more common among preterm and underweight *** half of the medications prescribed were anti-infectives for systemic use (n =1310,47.4%).The mean number of medications received by neonates increased from term to extremely preterm (5.2-15.0) and normal birth weight to extremely low birth weight (5.0-14.9).Mortality rate was significantly higher among extremely preterm (66.7%),and very preterm (15.2%) neonates compared to term (2.9%) *** median direct medical cost for NICU admission was INR 21,430 (USD 331).Conclusion Medical conditions,medications prescribed and mortality rate were significantly higher among preterm and underweight neonates admitted to NICU.

Objective To explore the interactions between pre-pregnancy body mass index(BMI) and age on offspring neuropsychological development from 1 to 24 months in *** In this birth cohort study, a total of 2,253 mother-child pairs were enrolled in Tianjin, China,between July 2015 and May 2018. The China Developmental Scale for Children was used to assess developmental quotient(DQ) of children aged from 1 to 24 *** Mixed-models analysis revealed significant age × pre-pregnancy BMI interactions for total DQ and five neurobehavioral domains(gross motor, fine motor, adaptive, language, and social;P < 0.001).Age × pre-pregnancy BMI ≥ 25 kg/m^2 was associated with a negative effect on total DQ and five neurobehavioral domains, as compared to pre-pregnancy BMI < 25 kg/m^2(P < 0.01). Multiple comparisons showed pre-pregnancy BMI ≥ 25 kg/m^2 of mothers had a positive effect on child total DQ at the age of 1 month but a negative effect at 24 months(P < 0.05).Conclusions This study supported the age × pre-pregnancy BMI interaction on offspring neuropsychological development. It also revealed a short-term positive impact of high pre-pregnancy BMI on neuropsychological development at 1 month of age, but a long-term negative effect(from 1 to24 months).

Objective Structural lows and major rift systems provide the basis for the creation of large *** uplift of the Qinling and Daba Mountains structural belts and Tibetan Plateau would have provided the basis for the origin and northwest–southeast flow of the ancient Hanjiang River(Lu et al.,2018).After a long-term evolution,the present pattern of Hanjiang River has been *** to six river terraces in the Hanzhong and Yunxian basins along the flanks of Hanjiang River valleys had been identified and some terraces had been dated by using optically stimulated luminescence(OSL),paleomagnetic,and electron spin resonance(ESR)dating methods,and correlating the pedostratigraphy and magnetic susceptibility with the Luochuan loess section by our team(Sun et al.,2016,2017).These terraces are composed of fluvial deposits overlaid with eolian deposits,and record the evolution history of the Hanjiang River.(Fig.1).This study is aimed to deduce the birth time of the present Hanjiang River by using 26Al/10Be burial dating method to date the highest fluvial terraces of the Hanjiang River.

Introduction:An estimated of 900,000 infants are born with birth defects each year in China causing a substantial disease *** study aimed to depict the epidemiological patterns of selected major birth defects in Chinese perinatal births and provide important baseline data for future ***:Data from the Chinese birth Defects Monitoring Network(CBDMN)during 2010–2018 were used to analyze the epidemiological pattern in the prevalence of 15 major birth defects and the trends over ***:In the period of 2010–2018,the top 10 most frequently-occurring birth defects in China included congenital heart diseases(CHDs),polydactyly,cleft lip with or without palate(CL/P),club foot,syndactyly,hydrocephalus,hypospadias,limb reduction defects(LRD),anotia/microtia,and anorectal atresia/*** was a decrease in the prevalence of neural tube defects,CL/P,hydrocephalus,LRD,gastroschisis,and omphalocele,but there were increases in the prevalence of CHDs,cleft palate,hypospadias,club foot,polydactyly,and *** prevalence of most birth defects varied significantly by maternal age,area types(urban/rural),and geographic *** and Implications for Public Health Practice:The findings indicated that the comprehensive prevention of birth defects should focus on these selected birth defects,elderly pregnant women,rural areas,and western regions.
